The graphic novel for Atlantis is very well done. I was a big fan of the movie and reading through the graphic novel reminded me of the happy memories of watching the movie. The illustrations and dialogue are wonderfully done. It's great to see this become available for a new generation of readers.

A wonderful rendition of a classic and underrated film. The work is stunning, and I believe this will be excellent for fans of the film, as well as introducing a new generation of readers to the brilliant story. Excellent work.

The movie this is based on is one I really enjoyed and remember fondly.
I'd heard that Mike Mignola had worked on the look and feel of the movie, so I was really looking forward to this comic book.
The story is exactly what I remembered, a lot of sillyness and quite a strange plot, but it's all in good fun.
The art does have a bit of that Mignola-esque feel to it, but I feel that color are way to loud - however this is a Disney product so I completly understand it, I just wish they could have gotten Dave Stewart who colored so much of the Mignola-verse art.
This is a very action pack book, it look very good and I really love the extra materials in the back; the sketches and doodles.

To make things clear: I have never seen the original movie. I wanted to, but somehow i never really got to it. Maybe after this, I finally will. The story is interesting, and the graphics are neat. But for me, it wasn't that easily understandable. That's probably the fault of me not seeing the story. Overall, I think it is good for young readers, who can finish books on their own. Looking forward to the rest of the classics.

I have always loved the story of Atlantis, and the graphic novel did not disappoint!

The action in this book will keep any audience hooked, and the illustrations are stunning. The colours especially are beautiful!

I loved the inclusion of the original language, it made for a great, immersive experience!

The Atlantis duology were films that my brother and I would rewatch all of the time when we were kids. As both fans of mythology it fascinated us, from the leviathan to the city itself.
This graphic novel took the best scenes and lines from the film and made them come to life with beautiful artwork to match. I will definitely purchasing a copy of this for my nephew to restart a new generation of kids to adore the story.

Also, they kept my favourite line: In being told that the people on the adventure need 4 basic food groups the chef quips

"I've got your four basic food groups: Beans, bacon, lard and beans!"- adapted from the original whisky from the movie, a food group that I thoroughly agree with as an adult.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from #netgalley , thank you. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Milo Thatch is preparing for the meeting of his life. Growing up on stories told by his grandfather about a lost civilisation called Atlantis, he was bitten by the desire to find it too. Now with his grandfather gone, it seems it's only Milo who believes in Atlantis. The meeting is to convince influential historians and scientists of its existence.

But just as these powerful men scoffed at Milo's grandfather, they scoff at Milo too, not even bothering to stay and listen.

Milo has no sway in the museum where he works. His most important job is to look after the museum's boiler, and no more. He feels like he will never achieve his dream of finding Atlantis and proving his grandfather right.

One night he finds a stranger in his apartment, with an invitation to meet her boss. Preston Whitmore claims to be a friend of the family and has an item to prove it. Milo finally has someone who will not only listen to his Atlantis theories but someone who will finance the expedition to find it!

Milo meets a talented and crew of men and women, all hired for their special skills for the voyage. Milo's years of research with his grandfather and beyond has set him up well for the trip, but his lack of life skills has not.

He is about to be terribly successful, and terribly out of his depth - under the ocean and in the mission itself.

Atlantis is a world many have heard of over many generations with Plato first telling the story around 360 BC. It has been the subject of movies, tv series, books and artists, all imagining a hidden world deep beneath the ocean's waves.

Originally a Disney animated film back in 2001, Atlantis - The Lost Empire graphic novel follows Milo Thatch on a voyage of discovery to find the legend of Atlantis he grew up with.

Full of adventure, evil villains, a dream to conquer and a cute love interest, the graphics include a collection of architectural styles instead of the standard Greek columns and design. The rich cultures of "Mayan, Southeast Asian, Cambodian, Indian, and Tibetan" are in the novel's images and concept artwork.

Humour is also interspersed throughout as Milo is a fish out of water among an experienced but oddball crew.

Completely fantastic graphic novel adaptation, I’ve got to own this in physical. The nostalgia is so real, I love Atlantis and am constantly looking for new things related. The art is excellent and the story adapted perfectly.

It's exactly what you think it's going to be and that is absolutely wonderful. I mostly wanted to check out this graphic novel for the additional sketchbook at the end with Mike Mignola. Stunning to see his rough sketches for so many of ships and characters.
I will always love the story of Atlantis.

I haven't seen the movie, but, this seemed like a really fun story.

Milo know that Atlantis exists, but, can't prove it. Then he gets a chance to prove it. but, not everything might be as it seems. And he may have to wind up helping save Atlantis. It was definitely an adaptation of the movie and not one to one.

Even I could tell that even though I haven't watched the movie. Still, the art was fun, and the story kept me interested.

I feel like Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a cult classic, but I do not remember if I've ever watched the whole movie from start to finish...
Some parts of the graphic novel felt rushed, like some parts are missing.
Overall the art is nice, the story is good, I just wish it was a bit longer and more detailed.

The art is very good, looks like the movie. On page 32 Kida and Milos dialogue has been swapped. Kida should be saying "Oh there is so much to ask about your world!" and Milo should say "I have questions. too. how did all of this end up down here?" On Page 38 Rourke telling Milo he is going to count to ten and then saying "the heart of the Atlantis lies in the eyes of her king! this it it! we're in!" would be confusing as the reading doesn't have anyway of knowing that Rourke is realizing that the "eye" refers to pattern in the water leading them to discover the chamber with the heart. the comic makes it seem like Rourke just repeats the line Milo told him and boom somehow they are in the chamber with the heart, its confusing.

The comic is a decent adaption of the movie. Young kids will enjoy it.

This was a fun graphic novel to go along with the early 2000s classic. As a fan of the movie, I loved to getting to enter the world again by reading the graphic novel and seeing some of the original art. I think this is a great way to introduce younger audiences to the story. I do wish it was a little longer since the cuts between scenes/pages left a lot more questions if you hadn't seen the movie.

Thank you NetGalley and Papercutz for this arc!!

5/5 stars!

This was a fantastic adaptation of one of my favourite animated movies! I loved the use of lighting in this, the harsh shadows really added to the feeling of them being deep beneath the sea. The story was exactly like the movie, and I love the bonus concept art at the end! I loved this!

I haven't watched this movie, but my son really enjoyed it when he was little. I learned the the art style was inspired by Mike Mignola and having him draw the book was so nice. It was a fun story.

This is a graphic novel version of Disney's movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire. It follows the movie well, but with lots of details left out. If I hadn't watched the movie first, I probably would have been a little lost. Overall, a good adaptation.

I'm always team more Atlantis content. The best part of this was the art design concepts in the back, other than that it was basically a frame by frame of the movie, it didn't really add or take anything. If that's what you're looking for though, then this is it.

This graphic novel hits every beat on the important scenes of Atlantis, one of the underrated and classic Disney movies of my life.
The art design is true to your memory and keeps the charm that the movie gave us.
A great way to remind the next gen, what a incredible story this was.
