Genuinely loved the art in this book, and thought the story itself was interesting, but was not a huge fan of the writing style. My 8y/o had no such qualms about the writing, but thought it was "too cute."
(Apologies for the very late review, I'm going back and adding those that didn't save for some reason)
Maddy Kettle Book 1 was a really cute and fast read. Loved the illustrations and the writing style was very different but it a great way. I loved every minute it took to read this story. My kids both loved this one as well!
This book might not be good for all children, especially the ones that are frightened of the supernatural. They may be too young to fully comprehend the point. My favorite part of this book were the illustrations though.
What first caught my eye was the stunning artwork- the style was very reminiscent of Neil Gaiman's Coraline. Thankfully this was a fun filled adventure with imaginative heroes, villains and challenges and I adored Maddy as our protagonist. I keep flicking through it just for the pictures as there is so much more story than is just written. Love it.
