On The Last Day Of School, written by Maggie C. Rudd and read by Tara Novie, is a great book for young readers. This book talks about children as they experience their last day of school, how they look back at how they have grown through the year, and look forward to the summer and their future time in school. I loved the way this author focuses on the relationships with the students and their peers and teachers, as well as the growth that happens through the school year. I think this would be a great book to read to prepare students for their end of year celebrations!
Thank you to NetGalley, and to the author, publisher, and narrator of this book for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
This book written in rhyme really depicts what the last day of school means to the children. A teacher could read this on the last day of school and have the children illustrate what they feel too.
The story, sound effects, and music were all well done. I would definitely recommend this book and would add this book to my child's library. I will check out more books from Rudd as well.
On the Last Day of School is a short and sweet story about things that may happen on the last day of school. It is told in rhyme and the narrator speaks very clearly, which is a benefit for potential kiddo listeners. I can't speak to all the illustrations since I listened to audio only, but the cover is cute and colorful. This would be a great audio for the last days of school in early to mid elementary school.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio for an ALC of this audiobook for an honest review.
