Very enjoyable. Got a little slow in the 75% section and became predictable but the characters were fun and interesting. Always enjoy Sandra Brown and this fits well into her catalog.

Detective John Bowie and TV producer Beth Collins find themselves in a gripping race against time to unravel a chilling mystery and prevent another devastating incident during the next blood moon. The high-stakes investigation is packed with twists and turns, but amidst the tension, sparks fly between the determined detective and the sharp-witted producer. Their growing chemistry adds an intriguing layer to the story, making you wonder: can they crack the case while navigating their undeniable connection? While the focus remains on the compelling murder plot, the limited character growth doesn’t detract from the book's narrative—it simply keeps the spotlight on the crime-solving journey. A blend of mystery and romance that will keep you turning the page until the end.

Oh how I love a good Sandra Brown Romantic Suspense book. This book captured and held my interest from the first to last page. It had twists and turns that I was not expecting. I had this book in an audiobook format and the narrator had a great voice. This is a book that you will want to have lots of time for because once you start you will not be able to put it down.

Detective John Bowie has been hanging on for years after the case of missing teenage girl Crissy Mellin has gone cold. Crisis Point, a true crime documentary, is running a series on the unsolved case. Beth is the producer for Crisis Point and she knows that the chance to catch the suspect is coming as Crissy and other missing teenager cases have one thing in common – they are committed on the night of the blood moon. And one of those nights is coming up shortly.

Lots of tension, fast paced, I really like Beth. This is a good one! RECOMMEND

Thank you #NetGalley for the complimentary copy of #BloodMoon in exchange for an honest review.

Sandra Brown is the premier spicy thriller author. Set in swampy sultry Louisiana, police detective John Bowie, and tv producer Beth Collins are brought together to investigate a cold case that revolves around the Blood Moon. The chemistry between these two is like moths drawn to a bright flame. Multiple missing girls, a wrongfully arrested guy, crooked cops, and lunar fanatics all make this book work.

I listened to the audiobook, the narrator Kyf Brewer, does an outstanding job creating the atmosphere of this book.

Almost 4 stars...

I’ve been a fan of Sandra Brown’s books for over 15 years, and in the last five years, I’ve been equally captivated by her audiobooks. Her romantic suspense novels are always a great escape, and Blood Moon is a perfect example of why I keep coming back for more.

One of the things I loved most about Blood Moon was how the hero and heroine worked together almost from the beginning. This dynamic allowed them to build a natural connection, making their relationship and later their sexual chemistry feel more realistic. It wasn’t rushed; their bond grew organically, which made it all the more satisfying.

The mystery and crime aspect was equally engaging, keeping me hooked like a well-executed crime podcast. I loved the way they unraveled a solved case, and the twist at the end was just right— unexpected yet fitting. The epilogue was a nice touch, providing a satisfying and complete ending.

In true Sandra Brown style, Blood Moon delivered all the right ingredients: a broody, grumpy hero, a strong, feisty heroine, an age gap, and tons of attraction. It's a great starting point for anyone new to her work and will not disappoint long-time fans. The audiobook was expertly narrated and kept me captivated from start to finish. I usually don’t need more than a few days to get through her books, and this one was no exception—it was fast-paced, engaging, and overall an enjoyable listen.

Sandra Brown writes such a boldly unique genre; her thrillers will hook you quickly: they are intense and dark and raw; but the thriller plot usually moves against the storyline of a budding love story that leads to graphic sex scenes that you don't usually find in thrillers... it makes for such a bold contrast in the story but it blends just as seamlessly as can be.

BLOOD MOON is no exception; Brown tackles kidnapping, a true crime television show, shoddy police work, a rogue police officer, strange scientific theories about murder, and so much more in this novel. It has a lot going on but it's beyond page turning and I couldn't put it down. She's always going to be a favorite of mine!

A race against the next blood moon has Beth Collins, a senior producer on Crisis Point, a true crime documentary, travels to Louisiana to meet with Detective John Bowie for an interview in hopes it will help her solve a new angle that she is working on. This book was a whirlwind and I was on the edge of my seat. Detective John is a mysterious and quiet detective that is reluctant to help. I really enjoyed the both of them together and felt like they make a good team. There is a romance to the subplot but I don’t think it distracts from the main plot. The narrator, Kyf Brewer did a good job portraying Beth, and John. I was engaged till the very end.

I could not stop this book! I started the audiobook version and was done in under 24 hours. John Bowie is a detective who's last three years have been rough, all sense the disappearance of a local girl and the promotion of his nemesis. Beth Collins, a producer on a true crime television show has been working on an episode dedicated to the missing girl and is trying to get an interview with John, mainly because she has figured out why the local girl, Crissy, went missing and fears that it will happen again. After the first meeting things kick off fast, and it is a race to find out what happened to Crissy and prevent it from happening again. I really liked the mystery and all the twists. The narrator does a fantastic job.

This thriller features Detective Bowie, who teams up with Beth Collins to solve the mysterious deaths of women that coincide with the blood moon. Fans of Michael Connelly’s "Lincoln Lawyer" series and his other works will likely find this book appealing.

"Blood Moon" is well-constructed, guiding readers through a labyrinth of twists and turns. While I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning and end of the book, there were stretches in the middle that felt somewhat prolonged. Despite these slower parts, the book was overall a compelling and enjoyable read.

A bizarre story with some fanatical views! Embittered Detective John Bowie and ambitious TV producer Beth Collins are on a race against the clock to solve a mystery and prevent another incident from happening. Along the way things heat up between the two. They also learn things are not as they seem.

The setting was atmospheric enough to make me feel the humidity! I loved the story and how it slowly untangled bit by bit. The chemistry was undeniable and plenty of spice. I enjoyed it and look forward to more!

This was my first time listening to a Sandra Brown title and was curious to experience one of her novels. As far as the quality of writing and audio presentation, both were excellent. Unfortunately, I was not fond of the setting and characters in the story. As a result, I did not finish the audiobook.

Blood Moon by Sandra Brown, narrated by Kyf Brewer, is a thrilling ride from start to finish! The suspense is bone-chilling, with an ending that will leave you breathless—completely unexpected yet utterly satisfying. Kyf Brewer's gravelly voice is the perfect match for the tense, atmospheric tone of the story, bringing every twist and turn to life. The sizzling chemistry between the characters adds an extra layer of intensity, making this audiobook impossible to pause. (I received an advance listener copy and all opinions are my own.) Highly recommended for fans of suspense and romance!

Thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the digital copy of this book; I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I aspired to, and eventually did work in TV news for many years, and Sandra Brown was always one of my favorite authors at that time because her main characters are usually TV producers. As I moved away from a life in journalism, I stopped reading Brown’s books. Recently, I was given the opportunity to preview an upcoming release from Sandra Brown called Blood Moon. I jumped at the chance!

First impressions: there’s a lot going on in this book, from kidnapping and murder to being wrongfully incarcerated because of police corruption. And something I didn’t remember from Brown’s books from 30 years ago, NSFW content! I don’t remember Brown’s books being so–spicy. That’s not a bad thing if you’re into that kind of book, but I listen to audiobooks at work, so it was a little awkward! That said, I did like the romance between Beth and John and thought it very realistic.

This book is packed full of tension and suspense, just like I remember Brown’s books. I thought the subject of police corruption was interesting and on-point instead of always having the cops be the good guys. But make no mistake, the good guys do win in this book, it’s just that the path to get there is fraught with difficulties.

Narrated by Kyf Brewer, I enjoyed the audio narration for the most part. I do think that for books with a male narrator, in general they have a hard time getting the women’s characterizations right. Sometimes, and part of this was due to the way Brown wrote, I had a hard time distinguishing who was talking, John or Beth. But overall, he did a good job.

I would definitely read another Sandra Brown book again, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to revisit one of my favorite authors from the past.

The setting is costal Louisiana. Our main character is Detective John Bowie, a member of the Auclair Police Department. Bowie was recently divorced, enjoys his liquor a bit too much and is struggling to come to turns with the Crissy Mellin investigation. Crissy Mellin, a teenager, disappeared three years ago. A television show, Crisis Point plans to run a documentary on the unsolved case. Bowie’s boss has warned him to keep all of his complaints and blame over the case to himself.
Senior producer of Crisis Point, Beth Collins, knows a great story when she sees one. She has spent the last years examining, studying, and editing a multitude episodes of the show. Her experience tells her that Crissy Mellin’s disappearance is linked to several disappearances. All the teenage girls disappeared on the night of the Blood Moon. Beth travels to Louisianna to ask Detective Bowie to assist in finding out what happened to Crissy. Time isn’t on their side with only four days until the next blood moon. They must find answers before the offender strikes again. The life of someone close to Bowie is on the line. Bowie and Collins’ jobs and lives are on the line.
Both John Bowie and Beth Collins are on the verge of being fired. There is corruption in the Auclair Police Department. The department has a dark side. There was an immediate attraction between Bowie and Collins.
Author Sandra Brown, like most successful authors, has a formula that works well for her. Brown’s characters follow a pattern. Like most of Brown’s male main character, Bowie comes across as caring and slightly controlling. He is a man that needs a woman that will stand up to him, a woman that will love him despite his imperfections. Bowie’s character has depth. Collins also follows the female main character formula. She is strong, smart, capable of standing up for herself and yet ready for a man like Bowie.
Thank you NetGAlley for the ARC.

Working against the clock you have a detective and tv producer.

Detective John Bowie is close to being fired from the Police Department he works at in coastal Louisiana. Recently divorced, Bowie is not happy with how one of his cases was handled and makes sure everyone knows. But now, Crisis Point, a long-running true crime television series, is soon to air an episode documenting the unsolved Mellin case he worked on. Bowie has been instructed by his unscrupulous boss to keep to himself his grievances and criticisms over the mishandling of the investigation.

Beth Collins, a senior producer on Crisis Point, knows what classifies as a great story and when there’s something more to be told. After working on the show for seven years researching, fact checking, and editing dozens of episodes, Collins is convinced that Crissy Mellin’s disappearance was not an isolated incident. A string of disappearances of teenage girls in nearby areas have only one thing in common: They took place on the night of a blood moon. In a last-ditch effort to find out the truth, Beth leaves New York City for Louisiana to enlist Detective Bowie in helping her figure out what happened to Crissy and find the true culprit before he acts on the next blood moon—in four days’ time.

At the risk of their jobs and lives, Bowie and Collins band together to identify and capture the bad guy. Unfortunately Bowie’s teenager daughter gets mixed into the drama as things unfold.

I enjoyed this book and the locations featured throughout. You have coastal Louisiana and also places like Galveston and Beaumont.
