Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the eARC! Young space lovers will love this book! The illustrations are very detailed. Space lovers will enjoy Fly’s adventure of wanting to going into space. This book as a great message as well- never give up on your dreams!
The story is adorable, as are the illustrations, but the billionaire cameo and love towards Blue Origin felt really weird and took away enjoyment from the story. The fly even has the Blue Origin logo on it's uniform at the end of the story.
A very cute story about a young fly who wants to go space, and makes his dreams a reality! A perfect for children who have big dreams, or just have a deep love of space! It evens come with a glow-in-the-dark poster.
The Fly Who Flew to Space is an absolute treat! Its fun approach allows kids to relate to the Flynn, recognizing where he's from and the daily activities he does, while also having an adventure element to make normal, boring days vibrant and exciting. The illustrations are dynamic and inviting for kids encouraging them to use their imaginations to go on a space adventure of their own. The wide expanse of the universe is explored in an approachable way that'll definitely leave kids wanting to learn more about all the features space has to offer.
Well this was a very random and ridiculous story with illustrations that did nothing to help.
I question this being a New York Times Best Seller..
Thank-you NetGalley, The Collective Book Studio and Lauren for this Digital Advanced Readers Copy, in exchange for an honest review.
The Fly Who Flew to Space (with removable glow-in-the-dark poster) is a cute adventure story about having dreams. Perfect for 3-6 year-olds. The graphics are good, the writing is perfect for the audience, and the story introduces a few "technical" terms and world wonders without needing to go into detail.

I would like to express my gratitude to Lauren Sanchez, The Collective Book Studio, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read the Digital Reader Copy of this text. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me.
Being an astronaut is such aa common childhood dream so I was interested to see how one little fly would realise this dream for kids across the globe. However, upon opening the book, I was struck by how dull and dark the illustrations were. They were not inviting in the least. I also thought they were overly detailed and at times, a bit grown up for the target audience. Then there were a few that were just boring and didn’t compliment the text as well as it could have done.
I felt the story was very random. We went from fly struggling at school, to hanging out at the stables, to accidently getting trapped on a rocket to space, to meeting the rest of the fly’s family in space. It was just odd, and I found it hard to find any message in the book. Arguably, it is a children’s book and it’s perfectly ok to be a book purely for entertainment’s sake, but I couldn’t envision the fun and the awe with this text. I found myself getting bored quite quickly and it’s only a short text. It certainly isn’t a book I would want to see in my child’s library as I couldn’t bring myself to read it repeatedly.
A fly dreams of being more than a fly, he dreams of being an astronaut. He accidentally gets sent to space and learns what it is like to be a real astronaut.
This was such a great read! It was very entertaining and the storyline was great. Thank you for the advanced copy!
I read this with my 1st grade son. He was really interested in the topics of space and the life of a fly. He laughed at a couple of the jokes. The illustrations were very cute. I think this would please a wide variety of young readers.
Such a wonderful book.
Really cute story. The artwork was so good.
Me and my niece had a really good time reading it.
This is an adorable picture book about a Texan fly named Flynn. Flynn wants to be an astronaut. he sneaks off to visit a rocket ship nearby and gets trapped inside. Here is where the adventure begins. From space Flynn enjoys an out of this world perspective of Earth's most cherished iconic places like New York City's Staute of Liberty, and Paris' Eiffel Tower to name a few. Flynn learns about gravity and G-force from the astronaut on board. This is a educational and feel good story for the little ones.
Such a wonderful book! As a homeschooling mom, I can appreciate the way it is approaching learning about space in a playful manner, through a picture book. The arr work is wonderful in the book. And it will even comes with a glow in the dark poster! I think if you want a fun book, that is engaging and educational, this is the one for you!
This is so cute! Flynn is a fly who isn't focused on regular fly things because he's focused on becoming an astronaut. When he goes into space, he has amazing adventures and gets a new perspective on Earth. His loving family supports him in his unusual ambition.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.
Hmmm… A fly that is gagging to be an explorer ends up by mistake on a rocket to space, and therefore proves the benefits of a curious mind. It also provides evidence that the Earth is special, and seeing it all like that increases the feeling it ought to be protected. Cockamamie beats – ie the response from anyone and everyone to the stowaway – don't help, and there are better ways to convey the same sentiments. The visuals look both wonderful and cheap and entirely inappropriate at the same time – the landmarks from ascension look dreadful, and just what is happening with that pencil?! I think the text is just as bad as the imagery, mind – the story is too brief to ever get us to care for Flynn the fly, and the story and telling are just too blunt, and end up bodging the mix of science lesson and entertainment. Not sinfully inept, but not recommended.
Fun, well written, and very well illustrated book about a fly who is enarmored with rocket ships and finally has his dream come true when he gets to go on a mission. Sweet, enjoyable, and very nicely done, this is a fun book for the young set.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
My 3yo daughter had her mind blown when she realized that girls could be astronauts while reading this book. So thanks for helping me remind her that girls can do anything. Even girl flies. 😂 she liked seeing the pictures of earth and the fly family at the end.
I read this book with my daughter this afternoon and she loved it!
She has been a massive fan of space and all things related since a young age, and as with most children she wanted to be an astronaut and used to dress up as one so I guessed that this book would be a it with her, and it certainly was!
The illustrations were lovely and they worked really well with the story to bring it all together. As a parent the pages were great and I loved that some key landmarks were highlighted on the journey to Space too.
It was well written and easy to follow and laid out really well. The text was nice and clear and not clouded by the illustrations. It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
The Fly Who Flew Space is a picture book about a fly named Flynn, who through their curiosity about space and being an astronaut, ends up unintentionally going to space in a space shuttle. It is a sweet story about going for your dreams, even if they seem impossible. The illustrations are very cute and my kids enjoyed many silly moments (especially math using waste). This is a great story for early elementary aged students.
Thanks to The Collective Book Studio and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
