This is so cute! Flynn is a fly who isn't focused on regular fly things because he's focused on becoming an astronaut. When he goes into space, he has amazing adventures and gets a new perspective on Earth. His loving family supports him in his unusual ambition.

Hmmm… A fly that is gagging to be an explorer ends up by mistake on a rocket to space, and therefore proves the benefits of a curious mind. It also provides evidence that the Earth is special, and seeing it all like that increases the feeling it ought to be protected. Cockamamie beats – ie the response from anyone and everyone to the stowaway – don't help, and there are better ways to convey the same sentiments. The visuals look both wonderful and cheap and entirely inappropriate at the same time – the landmarks from ascension look dreadful, and just what is happening with that pencil?! I think the text is just as bad as the imagery, mind – the story is too brief to ever get us to care for Flynn the fly, and the story and telling are just too blunt, and end up bodging the mix of science lesson and entertainment. Not sinfully inept, but not recommended.

Fun, well written, and very well illustrated book about a fly who is enarmored with rocket ships and finally has his dream come true when he gets to go on a mission. Sweet, enjoyable, and very nicely done, this is a fun book for the young set.

My 3yo daughter had her mind blown when she realized that girls could be astronauts while reading this book. So thanks for helping me remind her that girls can do anything. Even girl flies. 😂 she liked seeing the pictures of earth and the fly family at the end.

I read this book with my daughter this afternoon and she loved it!

She has been a massive fan of space and all things related since a young age, and as with most children she wanted to be an astronaut and used to dress up as one so I guessed that this book would be a it with her, and it certainly was!

The illustrations were lovely and they worked really well with the story to bring it all together. As a parent the pages were great and I loved that some key landmarks were highlighted on the journey to Space too.

It was well written and easy to follow and laid out really well. The text was nice and clear and not clouded by the illustrations. It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

The Fly Who Flew Space is a picture book about a fly named Flynn, who through their curiosity about space and being an astronaut, ends up unintentionally going to space in a space shuttle. It is a sweet story about going for your dreams, even if they seem impossible. The illustrations are very cute and my kids enjoyed many silly moments (especially math using waste). This is a great story for early elementary aged students.
