I know I am sending this ten years after the fact, but I noticed this in my archived Netgalley section and wanted to provide the feedback that I DID in fact read this book after it was archived on Netgalley and I still have this book in my school library. I recently purchased a new set of this series and I'm still trying to promote it with students -- I love this series of interconnected space opera romances, and there really isn't much out there like this! Thank you for giving me this book to preview back in the day...and please know that I did and do love the book!

This Shattered World is the second installment in the Starbound trilogy by authors Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Let me just say before I get to the actual review of the book that you may be able to get away with reading this book, without having read These Broken Stars first.

Smart, sexy scifi. Just wait until you guys meet Jubilee Chase! I have a serious girl crush on her.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

WOOOOOOOOW. I was not expecting this story to be so action-packed and intense. These Broken Stars was a love story set in space. That was it. There was very little world-building and development. Readers were given a couple to fall in love with and pull for. This Shattered World... still has a couple... still has a trope we all can't get enough of. But the romance is so understated and pushed to the side, which I actually liked! The world is so developed. Everything is explained and there's an actual back story. The take on war was interesting, and allowed multiple viewpoints from different characters on different sides of the war. It worked for me! And I was happy to see a cameo from Tarver and Lila. I really, really enjoyed this book!

I remember wanting to read this sequel to These Broken Stars because I loved that book so much. I unfortunately could not remember anything about the first book or why I loved it so much. This made making connections with character a little difficult. I did enjoy the story line but couldn't quite understand the motives of the villains or what was happening in the world. And then when the original characters were reintroduced I was even more confused. I was still fully invested in Jubilee and Flynn's world. This story did not shy away from the brutal descriptions of war. I liked that but it was still hard to read. Their romance was genuine and believable. I am definitely considering reading the last book in this series.

"This Shattered World" is the second book in the Starbound series, but can also be read as a standalone. In this book you meet Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac. Jubilee is a captain who follows the rules, until she meets Flynn. Flynn is part of a group of people who are against everything Jubilee stands for. Who will win this endless war? I guess we shall see soon enough! I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to start the next book. This series keeps my interest all the way through the book. Oh side note to add, what is up with calling women "sir"? Did anyone else notice that?

Advanced copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely adored this book. It was a Romeo and Juliet spin-off with a sci-fi twist. I can't say enough good things about it really. I especially liked that the R&J couple were on even ground most of the time. There's a lot of back and forth between right and wrong in this book. I'll edit this review later, but for now:
