Beginnings Review
I am a Bible study nerd. I love Bible study manuals. I collect them to be honest. I have the majority of the NavPress Lifechange series, the entire Jesus Calling Bible study series, and a few other books scattered here and there. So when I saw Beginnings on NetGalley, I knew I was going to have to grab it and go through it. I was not disappointed.
Format
Being from NetGalley, I knew that Beginnings was going to be an eBook. It was very well formatted. To my delight, it even included instructions on how to answer the questions when using an eBook copy. You won’t need a separate notebook – just use the note-taking feature included in your eBook reader. For me, I was using the Kindle version, which allowed me to simply highlight the [Your Response Here] text, tap on it, and tap the notes icon. From there, I was able to use the iPad keyboard to answer the questions. Easy-peasy!
This particular installment in The Jesus Bible Study series gives us six areas to focus on. That’s right, it only has six lessons. Each lesson can take a single day or a full week, depending on how quickly you want to go through the study. They are easy to read and while the questions will make you think a bit, they aren’t going to take you hours to answer.
Lessons
As I said above, there are six lessons in Beginnings. Those lessons cover Creation, The Trinity, Imago Dei (being made in the image of God), Uniqueness, Work, and Community. These lessons give you a good foundation of what God meant for us as human beings. One of my favorite lessons was The Trinity. It helped me to understand The Trinity and how God can be considered three persons in one. While most churches I’ve attended have believed in The Trinity, none of them gave a good understanding of how that can be. This book broke it down and made it easy to understand.
My Thoughts
This was an easy Bible study book to go through. It took me six days to complete all of the lessons, because I chose to do one lesson per day. The lessons were easy to read, easy to understand, and gave plenty of scriptures to back up what the authors were saying. The authors not only included actual scriptural text, but also included extra references.
My only gripe is that they didn’t really specify which translation of the Bible they were working with and I couldn’t immediately recognize it on my own. That being said, it is possible that some of the front matter of the book might have indicated what translation they were using and I simply didn’t see it.
All in all this is a great Bible study resource and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new Bible study series.

This series is such a great resource to help your studies of different parts of the Bible. They make a great, quick understanding of the important I formation and how it relates to each subject.

Beginnings Bible Study Guide is the first installment of this Bible Study series. This study offers an informative and interesting look into the beginning of God's story - of man's story and design as portrayed in Genesis. Complete with plenty of scriptures and modern day relatable stories/examples, the authors make this a study that is easy for the common man (and woman) to follow without it feeling like an overwhelming theology course. Thoughtful prompts are included with each unit that allow the reader to actively consider and apply the unit's subject matter to their own lives. Additionally, the study guide provides additional instructional recommendations to help Bible Study leaders effectively use it in their groups.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for this advanced review opportunity.

Beginnings Bible Study Guide is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of God’s story and their place within it. Its structured approach, combined with reflective and practical elements, ensures that readers not only engage with scripture but also see its transformative power in their lives. Despite minor areas for improvement, the guide successfully serves as a bridge between the sacred text and the complexities of modern living.

I liked this study. It was nice that it talked about a topic, but showed that there were references throughout scripture, not just in one book. I enjoyed the discussions and the questions that followed that allowed the reader to dig deeper.
Thank you Passion Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to review.

The Jesus Bible Study Series is designed to lead you through the six main acts of Scripture:
Beginnings
Revolt
People
Savior
Church
Forever
Beginnings is the latest bible study from Passion City Church. This is the first of a short series of six studies that cover six acts to get you from Genesis through Revelation. Each act (bible study) has six lessons. Each lesson is broken down in pretty much the same way. You have an intro or welcome section that introduces the context for that specific acts theme, followed by one or two questions that are thought provoking and helps you get dialed in on thinking about the specific subject. The next section is Read where scripture is presented and explained followed by two questions again. The third section is a specific topic based on the theme of this particular act followed by two questions. The fourth section is Reflect followed by two questions. The fifth section is a specific topic still based on the theme of that particular act. The last section is a Close section that again is followed by two more questions. This whole thing is set up to take place over six weeks, six days each week, and one day off, which I could see being the night you meet up in a small group to discuss what you’ve learned over that week’s information and what you got out of it. The very last part is a leaders guide. The leaders guide doesn’t have more questions, rather it has helpful tips for small group leaders for preparation, structuring group discussion time, as well as group dynamics.
Beginnings is broken down by the following themes:
The Creation
The Trinity
Imago Dei
Uniqueness
Work
Community
Leader’s Guide.
I can see this as being a way to help an individual studying by themself, in a small group, in a discipleship group, and so many other ways. While it’s short in length, it covers smaller section of the bible to help one understand the main themes of the bible. Very well done and highly recommend it!!
