My thanks to NetGalley and Bell Bridge Books for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.
This book is the fifth in the series and while it would help to read the books in order, it doesn't seem overly necessary, as past actions in books are brought up naturally and in a way to bring the reader up to speed, not to confuse them, so that was a positive.
I read some of the first book and didn't really like any of the characters. Same with this one. I just don't like the MC and her driving NEED to be popular. I get the crush on the hot lifeguard and I guess it's admirable (?) that she's going after what she wants, but to the exclusion of all else, including being mean to just about the only friend she has?
DNF at 21% because this book just wasn't for me. Not saying it's not for anyone, just not for me. I am sure that this is a series that will work for many middle readers and maybe YA readers. The MC seems a bit immature to me, but maybe I'm too far out of the target age range and just being a crusty old lady, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
2, not poorly written but not doing it for me, stars.
