Detective Stone is no stranger to dastardly deeds, twisted games, and evil in all its forms. In this, her twenty-first outing, she's got the biggest enemy of all... A DEADLINE!

Expertly narrated yet again by the fabulous Jan Cramer, 36 hours will have you gripped from the very beginning. Whether you've read all the previous books or this is your first experience, you will love it.

WoW............Another Fantastic book.

36 Hours By: Angela Marsons and narrated by: Jan Cramer is the 21st book in the fantastic Detective Kim Stone Crime Thriller Series and what another excellent audiobook this was. I loved it! Just like the other 20 books within this series has been a 5 star read.

Sunday Mornings are usually for lie ins and relaxing, but today Detective Kim Stone gets a rude knock on her door in the very early hours of Sunday morning. When Kim opens the door, she only finds that it is local Journalist Tracy Frost at the door. Not the person she wants to see and they are not the best of friends! they were arch enemies but over the years they have learned to tolerate each other. Kim is not impressed.
Tracy Frost wants to show her a note she has received. Tracy looks different, she's not wearing her usual smart designer clothes and her designer shoes etc, she is wear scruffy clothes with a few stains on her top, leggings and with trainers! Kim has never seen her like this.........As Kim reads this note her gut tells her this is no hoax.

But, when she reads it again, her blood turns reads the note gives Tracy has 36 hours to follow a trail set by an anonymous challenger. If she fails, people will die. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

WoW!!!!

Kim. summons her team, and is desperate to prevent what lies ahead. With minutes to spare, they solve the first cryptic clue. It leads to a box hidden deep in the woods, containing a second clue and a tape.
But, as she listens to the recording of a heart-wrenching scream, Kim knows her enemy will go to any lengths to achieve his goals. . . . . . . . and that she must draw on all her experience of evil men to understand what is driving him.

Will Kim and her team crack these notes before someone else is hurt or killed!

Tick tock the clock is ticking. . . . . . . . . . . .

WoW this audiobook is excellent.......I loved this book and all of Angela's books However, the narrator Jan Cramer is not the best for this series........the way she starts every chapter and throughout the chapters, she sounds she bored and other books she has done within this series it's the same without feeling for the character/book!........It's a shame as I feel she lets the main character Detective Kim Stone etc down.

I still give this book 5 fat golden stars but for Performance 1 star.

Big Thank you to NetGalley and especially Bookouture Audio and Bookouture for my Copies,

When I got the eGalley for this I was delighted however I was disappointed that I found it only okay where as other readers thought it was WOW.
I do love a good audiobook – so here I am listening to the audio

Detective Kim Stone is awaken at 5 a.m. Sunday morning with someone banging on her front door. It is journalist Tracy Frost who tells Kim she got a disturbing email message at 4 a.m.
The message starts off that is not a joke but instruction for a game that starts at 7 a.m. and ends on Monday at 7 p.m.
~ You have 36 hours. If you follow the instructions, no one will get hurt…
Tracy must give update every six house and posted on the Dudley Star website.

True -Tracy Frost is usually a PIA and not Kim’s dearest friend, Kim fears this is no hoax and summons her team to solve clues. Kim’s team has the same impression of Frost but is willing to work with her if it means saving someone’s life.

I hung in there as there is value in reading a second time. I did pick up things ln the Audio that I didn’t ‘get’ or missed in the eGalley. However, I was not a big fan of the narrator. It never reached the WOW read that I was expected from an author I like~ I have not read all the books in this series but I call myself a DI Kim Stone fan! I am looking forward to #22

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. Publishing Release Date scheduled for December 10, 2024.

Another DI Kim Stone investigation

This is book 21 but works well as a stand-alone too.
I’ve only read a couple,e of Kim Stone book, but tht didn’t matter as this works well enough on its own

In this it start with Kim being awoken by knocking on her door early one Sunday morning.

When she opens the door she I met by local reporter Tracy Frost. It seems her and Stone have some history but again that didn’t affect this story.

Frost has received an email telling her she has 36 hours to follow the instructions and solve the clue, before someone gets hurt. After initially dismissing it as a hoax, DI Stone is persuaded to pull together a team to so,ve the clues. The further they become involved the more obvious it is that this is not a Hoax.

I had worked out who was behind this before the final revelation as well as a side story. However that still didn’t detract from the book

The awful accents were harder to get pst but I managed to do so.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this title

Omg I binged this high quality audiobook. I was hooked the familiar characters being part of a game by a sadistic killer. The narration was spot in. The story was dark and full of twists and turns. I liked the way the game could gave actually happened and highlighted some of the online pitfalls we never think about when joining communities and games. There was real emotion to all the characters . I loved the fact that even though the killer was human their behaviour was not toned down or justified by anyone other than them. I liked hearing the humanity in the lead characters . The ending leaves me wondering what's next and please don't end it after 21 books. You gave me deep horror and I willed it to end well. I love the realism and fear. Thank you so much netgallery and publisher and author and narrator fir his highly recommend 5 🌟 listen.

I really enjoyed this story and it was very well narrated. I had only listened to the first book in the series but I didnt feel that I missed out too much on listening to this. However it got me so intrigued that I have now gone out and bought the rest of the series (thank goodness timing in with an audible sale). I really want to find out more about her relationship with the journalist and that back story - parts of it were really poignant and I just want to know more.

Glad to see Bookouture getting into the audiobook space.

36 Hours is Book 21 in the fantastic DI Kim Stone series from Angela Marsons.

"Journalist Tracy Frost wakes up Kim early to show her a strange message. She has 36 hours to follow a trail set by an anonymous challenger or people will die. Kim knows this is not some prank and must rally her team to stop a killer."

Marsons continues to find ways to tell a compelling story. This story races because of the deadlines between the clues and the pressure from Kim's superiors. Marsons walks the fine line between over-explaining and introducing a topic - geocaching in this story. There's also a character that I'm guessing we'll see in the next book. Marson hides her killer in plain sight and you will never guess who it is.

Jan Kramer does a nice job as narrator. I hope the accent matches that of the Black Country where the story is set,

Can totally be read as a standalone. Another great story from Marsons.

36 HOURS, the 21st book in the DI Kim Stone series, is a thrilling ride from start to finish. The story kicks off with a gripping early morning phone call from journalist Tracy Frost, who has received a chilling message: they have just 36 hours to decipher cryptic riddles, save lives, and apprehend a killer. The race against time and the high-stakes nature of the case will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This thriller is not just a fast-paced, high-tension ride with plenty of twists, but also a deep dive into the lives of well-defined, complex, and relatable characters. DI Kim Stone, with her unwavering determination and heart of gold, is a character you can't help but root for. The new and old characters in this book are equally compelling, making this a must-read for any crime fiction enthusiast, especially those who appreciate Angela Marson's work.

For those who prefer an auditory adventure, the audiobook of 36 HOURS, narrated by Jan Cramer, offers a truly immersive experience. Cramer's stellar performance brings the story to life, transporting listeners to the heart of the action. The adrenaline rush is palpable, making it a satisfying listen for any crime fiction enthusiast.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio providing me with the audio copy of 36 HOURS in exchange for an honest review. I find myself eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the DI Kim Stone series. Angela Marsons, I extend my heartfelt thanks for crafting such a captivating series. Angela Marsons delivers another edge-of-your-seat thriller with 36 Hours, the 21st installment in the Kim Stone series. Although this was my first venture into the world of Detective Kim Stone, I quickly found myself immersed in this intense, fast-paced story of a deadly game with the clock ticking and lives on the line.

The premise is gripping from the start: Kim receives a chilling note warning her that she has 36 hours to follow a cryptic trail or face the deaths of innocent people. Marsons wastes no time plunging the reader into the action, as Kim and her team race to unravel the clues left by a shadowy adversary. Each step ratchets up the tension, leaving readers breathless as they follow Kim through increasingly high-stakes twists and turns.

The audiobook, narrated by Jan Cramer, was a wonderful complement to the written story. Cramer’s ability to differentiate the characters through distinct voices enhanced the narrative, making it easy to follow even during the most chaotic moments. While the narration was a bit slow at the normal speed, I found that listening at 1.5x speed provided the perfect tempo to match the pulse-pounding pace of the story.

What stood out most for me was Kim Stone herself. Despite joining her story well into the series, I had no trouble connecting with her character or understanding her relationships with those around her. Kim is a compelling blend of intelligence, grit, and integrity, making her a protagonist you can root for without hesitation. Her determination and resourcefulness in the face of overwhelming odds were a highlight, and I can’t wait to explore more of her adventures in earlier books.

This novel was unputdownable. I devoured it in just eight hours, alternating between reading and listening, because I simply had to know how the team would solve each clue and whether they could save the victims in time. Marsons’ ability to keep the suspense taut throughout was remarkable, and the emotional stakes were just as high as the physical ones. She has earned a new fan, and I’m already planning to dive into more of Kim Stone’s adventures.

Highly recommended for those who love a smart, fast-paced, and heart-pounding mystery!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for providing me a digital copy and the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This is the 21st book in the Detective Kim Stone series. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series and it didn’t hinder my understanding or ability to follow the story. I really enjoyed the case the detectives are racing against the clock to solve. Additionally, I am now going to look into Geocaching which is featured prominently in the book.

This is my first book by Angela Marsons and my next book is another one in this series. Jan Cramer did an excellent job with the narration.

Thank you to NetGalley & Bookouture Audio for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

*CRACK* That is the sound of Angela Marsons hitting it out of the ballpark with 36 Hours! I can't believe that this is the 21st book in the addictive, captivating, and thrilling DI Kim Stone series! 36 Hours was addictive, original, and tense! Whew! Angela Marsons always has delivers and had me turning the pages and on the edge of the seat as Kim and her team worked against the clock to catch a killer!!!!!!! I was instantly gripped from the very beginning of this book. I was on the edge of my seat with my fingers crossed and my heart pounding as things became grim and deadly.

Detective Kim Stone gets an early morning phone call from journalist Tracy Frost who has received an alarming message. Kim has 36 hours to follow the clues and if she fails, people will die! Talk about pressure! Her team gathered and worked together to solve the clue which led them to a hidden box in the woods which contained another clue and a tape. Kim and her devoted team worked tirelessly to solve the clues to stop a killer before it is too late. The killer is diabolical, clever, and deadly. As the clock continues to wind down and things become dire, the team is pushed to the brink in their pursuit for justice.

Kim continues to be such a fabulous character. I love how she is both tough as nails yet has a heart of gold. She is clever, intelligent, spunky, hardworking and will stop at nothing to get to the truth. She along with her team have great banter, teamwork, and camaraderie. I enjoy the glimpses into their private lives. I also appreciate how Marson's shows how their investigations affect each of them personally. Don’t get me started on the dynamic between Kim and Frost!

36 Hours was brimming with tension, twists, dread, and danger. There were several scenes that had my pulse pounding and had me wanting to know what was going to happen next! Speaking of what comes next, I can't wait to read what Angela Marsons writes next!

I had the pleasure of having both the book and audiobook and enjoying switching back and forth between the two. The narration of the audiobook was fantastic and made for a lovely reading experience.

Wonderfully written, fast paced, addictive and hard to put down!
