Book 2 of Gina and Dorothy’s “Old Girls Behaving Badly” relationship finds Gina in France as a companion to elderly couple, Meredith and Gerald. As Meredith navigates being a full-time caregiver to her husband, Gerald, who has dementia, she finds herself with a broken arm in need of her own help.

On the suggestion from Dorothy, Gina takes the opportunity to help Meredith - but with more than being a companion. Dorothy has enlisted Gina to not only help Meredith, but to see what she is up to with regards to writing a memior. Dorothy is afraid that the memior will reveal a secret that she has been hiding. What starts out as a simple favor for Dorothy and a job for Gina turns to a story of friendship, love, and resilience.

With humor and a little mystery thrown in to complete this well-written story, Kate Galley delivers an enjoyable read from beginning to end. I have not read the 1st book in this series, but I am looking forward to reading it, as well as everything else Galley has to offer. Thank you Netgally for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. 5 ⭐️

An enjoy read. I did enjoy the story, the humour and the drama that unfolds, but was to slow paced for me.

Another fantastic read that follows Gina, a 71 year old lady recently separated and living on a houseboat, finding new friends and new adventures!

Gina has been asked by her friend Dorothy, to travel to France to help, as a companion to Meredith, a friend from her past, that is about to write her memoirs. Dorothy is concerned that secret's long since forgotten will be written so she has asked for Gina's help to see that this doesn't happen.

Making new friends, young and old, discovering new and exciting places and helping to catch a thief that has been stealing items from the Chateau is keeping Gina on her toes.

A wonderful fun and witty story, not to be missed!

Absolutely fabulous book. I’d unfortunately missed the first book and expected something very different from the storyline that panned out. This was engaging with a touch of mystery but focused very much on the importance of family. I loved Neredith and Gerald’s story and how Gina handled their situation. I also loved the setting Ian’s more than once found myself looking up Cezanne and his art work. Although I was sad to finish this , it gives me the opportunity to catch up on the first novel.

I thought this book was really sweet! Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked how bright and funny Dorothy was. I think the overall storyline of reconnecting and finding resolution was touching. I do think a few things were a little random and dragged. Maybe Lucien’s story didn’t feel as relevant to me? But I enjoyed it.

What a joyous read.

This is a story that shows life doesn't end at 40 50 or sixty, and it also shows you're never too old for an adventure.

It is fun fun fun and I loved it .. I am going to read it again again ..it's fabulous

This is the first time I have read this author and I really enjoyed this story about seniors since I am one too. Gina's husband left her after 40 some years of marriage. She met Dorothy Reed when she was her caregiver for a week and she moved in the boathouse on her property. Dorothy then found her another caregiver job sitting with an old friend of hers Meredith, who was a romance writer and was going to write about her life. Gina went to the chateau meeting Lucien and Beatrice who were were taking care of the place while Hugo and Rose traveled to there son Oliver , who was in an accident. There were several thefts at the chateau and Gina was the sleuth. Find out why she went and what happened while she was there.

If this doesn’t speak romcom perfection I don’t know what does!… I was so delighted with the warm fuzzy feeling this book left me with

The Old Girls' Chateau Escape is a worthy follow-up to the first book in the series, Old Girls Behaving Badly.

This time, our cast is mostly in France, which makes a delightful scene change and allows Art Historian Gina to thrive.

While she once more takes on the role of companion to an older couple, Gina has been tasked with uncovering some secret that Dorothy doesn't wish others to know. What follows is a charming tale filled with some trepidation and a lot of questions, which resolves itself quite beautifully in the final few chapters.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I'm sure readers will be equally entertained by Gina and Dorothy and their antics.

My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my review copy.

Through her companion and now friend Dorothy, Gina sets off on another adventure. Off to the south of France to be an aide to Meredith and her husband. Gina turns out to be a bit of a sleuth and helps solve problems at the chateau . Dorothy emerges again too. Cosy septuagenarian read

Having read and enjoyed the first Old Girls book, I was pleased to receive this advance copy from the publishers. Once again, this was a story with warmth, humour and a cast of well written, interesting characters. This is a great story that had me invested and I can’t wait to read the third.

Gina, is 71 and her husband decided he needed to go find himself, so she became a companion, to support herself. She is heading to France, to be a companion to an elderly couple, while their daughter leaves to go be with her son, who was seriously injured in an accident. When she arrives, it isn't what she expected, but she takes each day as it comes.
Gina has a way of making the best of what is going on. The place she is staying, hasn't been updated yet, but that is ok with her. Meredith and George, doesn't think they need a companion, but Gina, connects with them, and she is good at her job. While there, she discovers some strange things going on, and her attention to details, helps her figure out what is going on, and brings it all to a satisfying conclusion. The strange things going on, made me wonder, kept me guessing, and seeing the elderly people and the younger generation together, nourished my soul. This is a story, that has a lot going on, but flows so smoothly, that I felt like I was right there with them, just taking each day as it came.
I received an ARC from Boldwood Books through NetGalley.

The second outing for Gina and Dorothy. I have read the first and enjoyed it. That said they both can be read as standalone books.
A heartwarming story about old friends and misunderstandings. Set in France. A thief, an family illness and misunderstanding between long standing friends are all added to the wonderful mix..
Enjoy I did

I've read the previous book, Old Girls Behaving Badly, and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I dived into the Old Girl's Chateau Escape, excited to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones.
Gina is a woman in her seventies who previously ended up being Dorothy's companion, a woman twenty years her senior.
Somehow, Dorothy gets wind of a situation where a couple needs a companion for a short while and feels Gina would be ideal for the job, especially as she has a personal interest in this couple.
Gina agrees to go and travels to the South of France to help Meredith, a novelist, and her husband while their daughter has had to disappear in an emergency.
So much happens, and Gina proves to be a great problem solver and someone everyone ends up warming to, even the secretive, prickly Meredith.
There is a little mystery, an inkling of romance and lots of giggles to be had. Dorothy ends up in the mix, and causes her own ripples while there.
I really enjoyed reading this, and wonder whether Gina and Dorothy have any more adventures up their sleeves?
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

A really enjoyable book especially for the more mature ladies. This is the second book in the 'Old Girls' series and I would recommend they are read in order. Dorothy and Gina meet and become friends in the first book and again Dorothy persuades Gina into more undercover work by becoming a carer for an old, estranged friend of Dorothy. Although the story is quite simple, it is the skill of Kate Galley that turns it into a very readable book. I found myself reading it at every opportunity.

Suggested by her friend Dorothy we find Gina as a caretaker in Provence. Gina is 71 years old and is there to help Meredith and her husband Gerald who has dementia..While there Dorothy has asked Gina to find out what Meredith if writing in her memoires; obviously there is a big secret she doesn’t want revealed Gina is staying in a villa on the grounds of a Chateau that has been turned into a hotel. There are many characters that the reader will get involved with, including Lucien who is managing the hotel in the absence of his Uncle Hugo. Along with Lucien, we have a guest in one of the villas, Adele, who seems a bit “off.” There is quite a bit to contend with as you read along, including several thefts at the hotel, a mystery and a bit of romance. The descriptions of the landscape are wonderful, as well as the character development. The book is entertaining and well written. Recommended. My thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe it’s just because I’m getting older myself (although I’m still significantly younger than the characters in the book) but The Old Girls’ Chateau Escape by Kate Galley proves that seniors can make for interesting main characters.

Gina has been convinced by her friend and current boss, Dorothy, to act as carer for an elderly couple, one of whom is a fairly famous romance author with a connection to Dorothy. The author is penning her memoir, and Dorothy is worried about something from their shared past being included, so wants Gina to report back on the book’s contents.

The book is charming and at times humorous,, with a hint of a mystery or two, and a touch of romance to round things out.

I don’t want to give too much away, so I will just say that if in doubt, you should give this book a try. It was entertaining, and interesting enough that I read it in a single sitting.

Heartfelt, charming and wonderfully character driven, not to mention a tale of secrets kept and even a hint of mystery. Or, is that two mysteries? In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Gina Knight again, once again as a caretaker, but this time in France. I worried we might not get much Dorothy Reed this go-round, so was quite delighted when she popped up as the book continued. It's Dorothy, after all, who points Gina in the direction of old author friend Meredith to find out what long kept secrets she might be revealing in her upcoming memoir. Gina is naturally friendly, honest, and wants to help, even if she is uncomfortable at the idea of betraying Meredith's trust, too, by sharing what she discovers. That's complicated by Meredith's husband Gerald having dementia and concerns of doing anything to ruin his moments of clarity by disturbing Meredith. Gina has a sensitive way of reading people and it's obvious Meredith is troubled.

It is to Gina's credit that she not only tries to do right by both of them but help harried chateau manager Lucian and another stranger she meets at the chateau villas. Phew, and that's only hitting the highlights. Lots more going on here. For me, however, the important aspect was that this is definitely a character driven story. From side characters like Lucian to Dorothy, Gina, and the rest, each is wonderfully fleshed out and we get to spend some time i many of their heads. I hope we somehow get to see more of Lucian in future books. I really liked him. The descriptions of the setting and the places Gina visits in the area are well-done and give you a taste of France, not to mention its artists. While the main characters are older, they're hardly stereotypes, albeit the author doesn't ignore that they have to make adjustments for activities and outings. I liked that, maybe because I'm slowly but surely coming to grips with that myself? Grin.

Bottom line, while I don't want to give away any more of the plot, I will say if you enjoy character driven plots, especially with finally aged characters in amazing places, you'll enjoy this book. The plot moves along nicely and you'll feel at home with the characters almost immediately. While a follow-up to the first in the series, this one stands alone nicely with pretty much all the background you need to know being revealed in the first chapter almost without you noticing it. In other words, the author writes well and is quite readable. There's obviously lots of drama but also humor (and a cat), particularly as Gina tries to navigate civilly with an ex-husband who walked out on her but seems to be having second thoughts. I couldn't quite decide if he was a jerk or to feel sorry for him, though did grin when he was played a bit by both Lucian and neighbor and potential real romantic interest Erik, who I'm quite liking. Thanks #BoldwoodBooks for allowing me this early peek at Gina's adventures in France. I like how she's handling the changes in her life and the realization that she rather likes not having to answer to someone else. You go, girl!

Meredith's and Gerald's daughter Rose is called away to deal with her son's accident, Meredith is dealing
with a broken arm while writing her memoir and Gerald has dementia. Gina travels to France to act as the couples'
companion with the ulterior motive of discovering if the memoir will reveal a secret from her friend Dorothy's
past. Gina's reputation as a problem solver helps not only the couple, but also Lucien who is running the
hotel in his uncle's absence. Story of friendship, a secret revealed and mended relationships.
