I absolutely love finding new authors. The world building was fantastic. There were a lot of POVs I normally like maybe 3 tops. Has 2 of my favorite tropes, touch her and die and slow burn. Can't wait for book 2.

I found this one to be a little difficult to get into.
The story became really predictable very quickly and I was expecting it to deviate from the expectations that were being set up. It didn't.
It played into the fae stealing children myth and Nova's story was the most interesting plotline of them all.
I couldn't really find the other characters to be likeable. They seemed to me to be one-dimensional and lacked depth.

When I saw this was a fae romantasy I was IMMEDIATELY intrigued and I really enjoyed this one! I thought the premise would be another human-girl-falls-in-love-with-unfairly-attractive-fae-man but this one was a little different which I loved.

Blood Iron and Bone follows Aurelia, a human girl who has never felt quite like she belongs anywhere, not even with her own family. She dreams of a man she’s never met but cant help feeling she is meant to know him and that he’s important to her. One night she hears a strange call an obviously decides to follow it and is thrown into the fae world and the inevitable trouble that comes with it. She’s drawn to Andar, soon to be (like tomorrow) fae king but he’s betrothed to the fae princess Lark…isn’t he?

I’ve seen a few reviews that weren’t a fan of the multiple POVs in this one but honestly I loved it! I feel like it was nice to get more than one pov and more than one story within the book but they all connected together in the end which was great. I felt like it had a nice pace to it and while the story did take a bit to get going, I couldn’t put it down!

Really looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book in the series!

The concept of this story started out so promising and truly intrigued me at the start. The pov’s are very fluid and blend together giving the story a dream like feel - and while it was beautiful it felt a little too scattered at times. There were a lot of different characters and povs that made the progression of the story a little too slow to hold my interest in the same way as the beginning.

I thought this story was a wonderfully written tale full of awe and wonder. Its a delightful read and I think suitable for anyone with a penchant for fantasy and fairytales.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me at 26%. I really wanted to love this one, Romantasy is my all time favourite gene, however this one just did not work for me. It wasn't bad, I just felt like I wouldn't get a lot out of continuing.

I felt like it was a little chaotic and jumped around a lot. In parts I was really liked the writing and then in other parts I just could not gel with it. It follows a lot of different people & I got a bit confused when it tended to jump from one person to the next in the middle of a chapter. Also I didn't particularly like any of the main characters & felt like all they did was moan.

All that being said I do feel like the book had potential and the bones of a good story where there so I'm sure it will have its audience, unfortunately that was just not me.

This is the kind of book that doesn’t just ask for your attention—it DEMANDS it, twists it into a pretzel, and then rewards you with a rich, sprawling story that will have you flipping pages like your life depends on it.

We start with Aurelia, a mortal girl who hears a strange call in the night—and instead of doing the REASONABLE thing and ignoring it, she follows. Meanwhile, Andar, a fae prince, is stuck in a betrothal to the future High Queen of Áithrim, a politically perfect match that feels deeply wrong. But destiny has bigger plans, because as darkness looms over both realms, a tangled web of fae, humans, and ancient magic starts pulling them all together.

Now, let’s talk about the many POVs. This book gives us six different perspectives, which means you’ll either love the depth it brings or feel like you’re playing a very intense game of character bingo. (Personally, I was living for the complexity, even if I had to pause occasionally to reorient myself.) The world-building? Absolutely lush. If you love epic fantasies with layered politics, dangerous magic, and an unfolding mystery that keeps you JUST on the edge of understanding, this book has you covered.

That said, the writing style takes a minute to settle into. The story felt a bit dense at first, but once you hit part two, everything clicks into place, and the pacing picks up like a runaway carriage!

Final verdict? If The Bridge Kingdom, The Serpent & The Wings of Night, and Throne of Glass had a slow-burn, high-stakes fantasy baby, it would be Blood Iron and Bone. It’s ambitious, immersive, and packed with morally gray characters making terrible (but fascinating) decisions. If you love court intrigue, fae drama, and just a hint of impending doom, this one belongs on your TBR!

The plot line is great, the synopsis sounds amazing but I really struggled to connect with this book and really get into it. But the writing is great, really descriptive and the characters are well thought out.

This has been such a fun ride! The world-building felt so smooth, and the plot?! The drama and secrets?! I enjoyed it! It felt like a telenovela! Haha. As for the characters, there are plenty of them. We have 6 main characters (I like to think 3 pairs/couples. I'm crossing my fingers) and some interesting side characters, (eyeing you Aife & Ciorriathe) that I hope to learn more about. With that said, I think there wasn't much time for any of the characters to endear themselves to me, though I liked them. However, Nova is in the running place of becoming my standout or favorite character. It seemed she was the only functioning brain cell in their group, but with all the revelations happening, I can't blame the others for malfunctioning. Haha! I also like how the characters were written, they were so annoying sometimes that I wanted to grab in and shake them and at times, also hug them. Oh! I also enjoyed the funny pop culture references and a comedic break in some tense scenes.

Looking forward to Book 2!

First and foremost, I want to thank NetGalley and Agency Press for providing me with an early copy of *Blood, Iron and Bone*. As I’m still discovering my love for the *romantasy* genre, I was really excited to dive into this book. The premise was intriguing, and I had high hopes. While the book started off as a solid 4-star read, unfortunately, my enjoyment began to wane as I progressed. The plot's potential was overshadowed by a few frustrating elements, and the ending, in particular, left me feeling disappointed.

Despite my initial excitement, *Blood, Iron and Bone* didn't fully live up to its promise. The characters didn’t capture my attention as much as I hoped, and some of the dynamics, especially between Aurelia and Andar, felt rushed and lacked depth. The predictable plot kept me engaged at first, but it ultimately didn’t deliver the level of excitement or emotional payoff I was hoping for.

There were moments in the book where the world-building and magic were truly exceptional, and I found that to be the strongest aspect. The pacing also picked up as the story went on, but the lack of action and the flat character development left me wanting more. While I appreciate the creative world and the authors’ ability to juggle multiple POVs, the execution left something to be desired.

That said, I did enjoy many parts of the book, especially the magic system and the world-building. However, I was expecting more from the ending, which felt a bit underwhelming compared to what I had hoped for after such a strong build-up.

Also, I think I may know who Andar’s brother is, and if he’s the one I’m suspecting, I can’t wait for book two to dive deeper into his story!

*Blood, Iron, and Bone* has all the ingredients for an epic story, but in the end, it didn’t live up to its full potential for me. It’s a book with a lot of promise, but one that could have benefitted from deeper character development and a more focused plot. That said, if you’re a fan of fated mates, magic, and complex world-building, you might still enjoy this one, just be prepared for some disappointments along the way.

This definitely has epic fantasy in the bag but maybe to much so as it was confusing at moments to wrap my head around. Plus the 6 povs made it even more confusing and hard to figure out. The romance took a major backseat in this story line.

Blood Iron and Bone is a fantasy novel that features six character points of view concurrently. While the premise is promising, the story is overwhelmed by extensive world-building and numerous plot threads, which ultimately causes the main narrative to become lost.

this book is super detailed and really gets you thinking. there tons of viewpoints and it really takes your imagination on a ride. i’ll admit, i got a little lost here and there trying to keep up. but if you’re into fantasy packed with magic, fate, and big epic vibes, trust me, this book’s is for you!

The book juggles a large cast of distinct characters effectively, immersing readers in their varied perspectives and driving a character-focused narrative. The rich, complex world is unveiled piece by piece through an omniscient, fairytale-like writing style, enhanced by intriguing excerpts from "The Book of Maw." Despite a slight repetition in character thoughts, the unique approach to pacing and the compelling atmosphere make this a promising start to the series.

I really enjoyed this book. It truly felt like a fairytale.

Characters:
First, there are a lot of characters to follow. There are 6 main characters and a handful of secondary characters very important to the story.
I felt it was clear whose head you were in as each character had their own way of talking/thinking. I didn't feel lost at any point even though we jumped from one pov to the next. Of course, there are characters I liked more than the others but all brought something unique to the story and I'm looking forward to learn more about them.
One of my favourite character doesn't even have a pov and I really hope we'll get to learn more about her in the second book.

Atmosphere and Worldbuilding:
I loved the way information was given to us to understand the world better. The world is rich and complex. Even though we don't see a lot of it in this first book, we learn information piece by piece through the different characters and our perception changes as each one see this world from a totally different perspective. The extracts from "The Book of Maw" added to this in a wonderful way and felt very magical (and quite dark).

Writing style:
It was really refreshing to have an omniscient third-person pov in a fantasy romance! I loved the writing style. It really made me think of a fairytale. I liked how the authors managed to write a dark magical story while adding humour to some parts. The thoughts of some characters sometimes felt a little repetitive and that is why it's a 4.5 stars and not a 5 stars.

"Of course, it is almost impossible for anyone to enter the Otherworld entirely unnoticed. All passage through the membrane leaves a trace, sends a jolt out into the air, like a current of electricity. It was almost as though the Otherworld itself breathed a sigh of relief as she set foot on that land, for she had long been expected."
"Six different streams, six different hearts, all set to converge in the heart of Aithrim, and none had any idea."
"Sometimes all we can be is what we are told we already are."

Pacing:
The events of the book span over only a few days but so much happened! I loved how we jumped forward then backward in time to have the point of view of several characters for the same scenes. I felt it was more character driven than plot driven as we spend so much time in the characters' heads.

I think this book isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea because of some of those points but if you want some refreshing writing style in a fantasy romance and love a big cast of characters, I think you won't be disappointed. I will definitely pick up book 2.

This book was a total trip at first I was so confused, an Then baaam everything conects, and Then there's different POV's, and my Brain was like who tf Is talking now I had to re-start the chapters sometimes haha but During the passage of the story I was so intrigued to understand what was happening with so many Secrets and misunderstandings ....

Then there were the entries of the book of Maw and I was like what Is happening right now and then boom she's a scribe and when she talks to Nova about their pasts.... I gagged bc she remembers When no one is supposed to do it

I had a serious problem with Andar's mom I wanted to slap that biatch 🤡🤡 YOU CAN'T MANIPULATE DESTINY CIAROTHE 👹👹👹

Anyway I loveeeeeedddd Nova and Killian omg they're so good characters 🩷

Buuuut I think even if it's destiny.... The relationship of Aurelia and Andar was so rushed 😭😭😭 I mean I love that man but it's only been like 72 hours and a lot was happening at the Time 🫠🫠🫠

To conclude, I loved the book and everything it includes, but my rating is 4 stars because of the urgency of the relationship between Aurelia and Andar.

This is a very creative story, but there’s something about the writing style I cannot connect with, and my ADHD brain cannot keep track of all the different POVs.

As a lover of high fantasy, I was intrigued by the premise of this book, and while it has potential, it ultimately left me feeling a bit conflicted. This review is based on an Advance Reader Copy (ARC), so there is always the possibility that additional edits will smooth out some of the rougher elements.

One of the most surprising parts of this book that there is not one, but six different points of view. While multi-POV storytelling can be a fantastic tool for expanding a world and deepening character arcs, the execution here is somewhat flawed. The transitions between POVs are often abrupt and jarring, making it difficult to stay immersed in the narrative. Instead of a smooth flow between perspectives, the shifts feel disjointed, which pulled me out of the story at times.

The book classifies as more high fantasy, which required me to keep track of all the perspectives, world-building elements, and character motivations. This level of complexity can be rewarding, but in this case, the payoff is hindered by pacing issues. The events of the book take place over just two or three days, yet the pacing feels all over the place. The inconsistency in pacing makes it difficult to fully engage with the story’s stakes and character development.

The writing itself is serviceable but does not particularly stand out. While the prose is functional and conveys the necessary details, it lacks the lyrical quality or distinct voice that can make high fantasy novels feel truly immersive. Some passages are compelling, but others feel like they could have benefited from another round of editing to tighten the prose and enhance readability.

That being said, the book does show promise. The world-building is intriguing, and there are glimpses of strong character dynamics that could be further developed in future installments. With some refinement—particularly in terms of POV transitions, pacing, and overall cohesion—this series could become something truly special.

Overall, this is a book with potential, but it may not be for everyone. If you enjoy intricate fantasy worlds and don’t mind a bit of a challenge in following multiple perspectives, it might be worth picking up.
