Portraits of Celina is like stepping into a mysterious and enchanting world where the past and present intertwine in the most magical way! Our heroine, Bayley, moves to a new town and into an old house that holds secrets as deep as the ocean. And guess what? She discovers a portrait of her cousin Celina, who vanished without a trace many years ago—spooky, right?
Bayley is such a relatable and brave character. She's got a heart full of curiosity and a spirit as adventurous as a treasure hunter. As she delves into the mystery of Celina's disappearance, she uncovers clues that lead her on a thrilling and sometimes eerie journey.
Sue Whiting has crafted a story that's as captivating as a fairy tale, with a setting that feels both familiar and otherworldly. The old house is like a character itself, with its creaky floors and hidden corners, adding to the sense of suspense and wonder. And the portrait of Celina—oh, it's like a window into the past, drawing Bayley deeper into the mystery.
The plot is a delightful mix of suspense, family secrets, and a touch of the supernatural. Just when you think you know what's going to happen, the story takes a twist that leaves you on the edge of your seat. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, with moments that will make you gasp, smile, and maybe even shed a tear.
But what truly makes Portraits of Celina shine is its heart. Bayley's determination to uncover the truth and her bond with her family are at the core of this enchanting tale. It's a story about love, loss, and the unbreakable connections that tie us to our past.
So, if you're in the mood for a whimsical adventure filled with mystery, family secrets, and a touch of magic, Portraits of Celina is the perfect book for you! It's a tale of courage, discovery, and the enchanting journey of a girl who dares to uncover the truth.

I wasn't very interested in this title but the story of Bayley haunted by Celina - after Bayley discovers an old chest and clothes, it became a creepy ghost story. This wouldn't be my first choice to pass along but it is a decent spooky novel.

Unfortunately while having an interesting premise and promisingly eerie cover, this book's pacing didn't work for me and I was unable to connect with the characters. I also felt that the paranormal elements didn't come into play early enough to capture my attention as a reader.
