Another brilliant book from one of my favourite authors who never disappoints me. A great page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page until the great ending that I never guessed.
All the characters were excellent with just brilliant storytelling.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I can thoroughly recommend.

Jenny and Lachlan have been married for over twenty years and share two teenagers. Life is great until their teenage daughter becomes obsessed with a true-crime documentary of a cold case that all of her friends are talking about. When Jenny settles in to watch, she realizes it happened in the small Scottish village her husband grew up in.
While Jenny is an open book when it comes to her background and family, Lachlan is very tight-lipped, and for good reason.
Told in alternating points of view, the reader is privy to all of Lachlan's secrets immediately. There is no 'guessing' if he did or didn't, and if you think you wouldn't like a thriller where the bad guy is outed right away, give this one a chance. Watching Lachlan manipulate his family and co-workers made the tension unbearable, and seeing his inflated ego and grandiose thoughts made him such an unlikable character.
Jenny is just as manipulative as her husband, and she tricks him into going to his childhood village on a holiday. When he encounters some of the very people he's tried hard to distance himself from, including the man everyone pointed the finger blame at, it was so fun watching Lachlan squirm. Does he truly have what it takes to outmaneuver a suspicious wife?
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early read. At the time this review was written, this title was expected to publish on January 20, 2025.

Jenny and Lachlan are just a normal married couple with two kids, Bonnie and William. Theyβve been married for 20 years, they live together where Jenny grew up. That is until we find out Lachlan has a secretβ¦ he murdered a girl when he was 15 and now his family are obsessed with a documentary about it and want to go back to the town in Scotland where he grew up, how will he keep this secret safe from them?
My 23rd book by Daniel so itβs safe to say Iβm a fan of his writing! I was so excited to be accepted for this ARC as I couldnβt wait until January! This is a dual POV, from Jenny and Lachlan with an insert of Lachlans childhood. I couldnβt put this down, I love how Daniel keeps you wondering whatβs going to happen next, plenty of jaw dropping moments, with little twists and turns along the way! Fast paced read with good character depth, and nice short chapters which is always a winner for me.
Hereβs hoping The Baby Swap goes on to NetGalley soon π€πΌ

I can never stop myself from reading a Daniel Hurst thriller and I know I am in for a good time. This one was no exception. I didn't read the synopsis on purpose so I went in fully blind and that is the best way to go into reading this one in my opinion. I read this one in less than a day and the epilogue had a twist I did not expect. I did predict some elements of the story, but that did not diminish my enjoyment of the pace and the characters. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The Husband by Daniel Hurst was a good psychological drama with a predictable plot. Lachlan and Jenny seemed emotionally detached. The slower pace of the story lacked depth and suspense. However, it did picked up in the final pages. Not a favorite book from Mr Hurst but an entertraining read.
Thank you to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

I have heard a lot about Daniel Hurstβs books from a Psychological Thriller Readers Facebook group, so I was really excited when I opened my emails and saw that I had been chosen to read The Husband. Thank you for the opportunity!
The story revolves around Lachlan, his wife Jenny, and their two teenage children, Bonnie and William. It all begins with a murder mystery documentary that captures the attention of people worldwide, including Jenny and Bonnie. While everyone is glued to the screen, Lachlan does his best to avoid it, acting increasingly suspiciousβwhich does not go unnoticed by Jenny. As events start to unfold, Jenny becomes determined to get answers, piecing everything together bit by bit.
The short, cliffhanger chapters made the book incredibly hard to put down, and the pacing was perfect for building suspense. The straightforward, accessible writing draws you in while keeping the twists sharp and effective.
As my first experience with Daniel Hurst, I found his ability to evoke unease and tension impressive. That said, some of the twists felt a little predictable toward the end, but they were still satisfying in the broader context of the story.
Overall, The Husband is a fantastic introduction to Hurstβs work. Itβs a page-turner filled with lies, secrets, and the lengths people go to protectβor destroyβthose they love. If youβre a fan of domestic thrillers, this book is well worth the read!

This is the first book I've read by the author. An exciting thriller, where you get to see two perspectives. I was a little annoyed with Jenny, because I think she was a little too naive. A little too gullible, and it took too long for her to realize what was wrong. Jenny and Lachlan have two children, live a normal life and have a normal marriage. Things change quickly when a documentary about a murdered teenage girl starts airing on TV. The reason it gets a four with me is because I wish the answers weren't even revealed to me. I was hoping for a plot twist of some kind in there somewhere. I still devoured the book in one go and thought it was good.

This is another fabulous domestic thriller by Daniel Hurst. I couldnβt put it down once I started reading it. Itβs wonderfully dark with plenty of twists and intriguing characters. Iβve loved all of his other books, but this is definitely one of my favourites.

Jenny has been married to her kind husband for 20 years. Then he changes, starts getting angry, and never wants to talk about his past. Her friend whispers that itβs strange that heβs lived in two towns where two unsolved murders are.
I love how Daniel hurst gives us multiple points of views from different characters, so we can get into their heads. I have loved every one of Daniel Hurstβs books, and this one did not disappoint.

This was such a ride. Picture this: youβre living your best suburban life, perfect hubby, perfect kids, perfect everythingβand then, boom, your bestie drops this little truth bomb about your man that you just cannot un-hear. Cue the drama.
At first, I was like, βHmm, is this gonna be one of those slow-burn thrillers?β And yeah, it kinda starts out that way, but once things get going? Oh. My. Gosh. The twists, the turns, the vibesβI was hooked. Not even gonna lie, some moments had me like, βGirl, just walk away!β but also, you get it, you know? Sometimes you just have to see things through, even if itβs messy.
The dual POV thing? Loved it. Itβs like youβre in on the secret, watching everything unravel in slow-mo, and you canβt look away. Are the characters super likable? Um, not really, but that just makes it juicier. Itβs all very βWhoβs the real bad guy here?β vibes, and I ate it up.
Was it groundbreaking? Not exactly, but it totally scratched that itch for a domestic thriller with a side of βWhat would I do in her shoes?β So, yeah, 4 stars because it kept me flipping pages like a madwoman, but it wasnβt totally life-changing.
Thanks a million to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion! π

Another quick and thrilling read from Daniel Hurst.
As always an interesting storyline which is full of twists and heart thumping moments.
Some interesting characters especially in the village (which i have to say doesn't sound like a great place for a holiday.)
The wife irritated me and as for the husband, well just read the book!
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

The Husband is another addictive read from Daniel Hurst.
You think you know your husband but do you.
Lachlan is keeping the biggest secret from his wife Jenny .
Big secrets have a way of exploding in your face.
Jenny thinks she has the perfect life with their two teenage children.
Nothing can be further from the truth.
The story is told from both Lachlan's and Jenny POV and the reader knows what Lachlan is hiding before Jenny does which makes it a compelling read.
Neither Jenny or Lachlan are very likeable but that makes it more real and more interesting.
True crime is a another character in the book and most of us cant get enough of it these days.
Buckle up and settle for a read that will have you on the edge of your seat.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the privilege of reading and reviewing The Husband.

Yikes. This was far from thrilling. You knew everything from the jump so there was seriously nothing to look forward to at the end.
