This is a heartwarming, slow-burn romance that beautifully develops between Fae and Rick. Their chemistry is undeniable, but unlike other Rachael Stewart books, their connection grows gradually, based on trust and understanding rather than just physical attraction. The story is filled with swoon-worthy moments that will melt your heart.

Fae, having lost her job, home, and sense of self, finds refuge when her step-sister asks her to dog-sit while away on her honeymoon. It’s the perfect opportunity for Fae to take a step back and figure out her future. Meanwhile, her first meeting with Rick—entangled dog leads and all—adds humor and charm to their budding romance.

The novel is filled with warmth, laughter, and lovable dogs, making it an irresistible read. While Rick’s ex-fiancée and Fae’s father may be frustrating characters, the overall story is an absolute delight.

Entertaining trip to Australia. Light-hearted reading. Delightfully quick connection between two seemingly opposite characters. The dogs add some fun to the tale. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

When Fae agrees to dogsit for her stepsister's poodle Precious, she figures "how hard could this be, I get time at a beach house!". Well, a dog-created meet-cute later, she runs into (literally) a brick wall in the form of Rick's body, and the fun begins.

This was a fast read, funny, hot, set in Australia's Bondi Beach, and dogs!! What more could a reader want to pass the dreary days of winter in the northern hemisphere?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Fae agrees to pet sit her wealthy stepsister Sasha’s pet poodle. Sasha’s fancy beach house sounds like the perfect place for Fae to figure out her next move after losing her job and her home. But Sasha has one rule: keep away from the neighbor and his dog. But Sasha’s poodle becomes fast friends with Rick’s Great Dane and Fae can’t deny her attraction to Rick.

Fae makes a likable heroine. She and Rick have plenty of reasons to be wary of falling in love. The story climaxes with a situation that causes discomfort for both characters and allows them to confront the things that keep them from committing to each other.

The dogs are adorable. Sasha and her wife Gigi provide support from afar as they honeymoon on a yacht. Fae has a fun Cinderella moment while she channels a bit of Lizzie Bennett to Rick’s Mr. Darcy.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE BEACH makes a great heartwarming read on a cold winter’s night.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
