I thought I knew where this book was going, but I was wrong. I thought there may have been a biological relationship somewhere with a few of the characters. It was killing me to find out why Fiona was so full of vengeance, and for whom? The author did a fantastic job with the ending.

This was a bit of a creepy read of a convicted felon moving in next door, grooming the neighbors 12 year old daughter to be like her while completing a revenge plan and using the girl to help her.

Wow, another great twisting turning thriller from Mark Edward’s! Hooked from the beginning and could not put down! The protagonist is totally twisted and has a tight hold on the family next door and even when they are close to the truth, they are not even close! Totally recommend this thriller and you will too!

What an intense book. Fiona is a character you won't soon forget. She has moved into a house and has plans in place for the family next door. She takes a shine to Rose, the young girl that lives next door and she sees something in Rose that she believes will qualify her to be her partner in crime. And crime is what Fiona does best. Accidents happen and Fiona's hit list are dying one by one. And she sees that, like herself, Rose is not affected by watching these things happen. As Fiona's plans start falling into place the story's intensity kicks in and I found myself unable to put the book down.
It's a scary story because it could happen. The ending is a bit of a shocking twist that explains Fiona's plans and it's a doozie. The book is long but so well worth the time. I highly recommend it.

This was a well paced and chilling story. I find Mark Edwards's stories about horrible neighbours quite terrifying really because what can you do if someone awful moves in next door to you, when your home is meant to be your place of safety and refuge from the world? Parts of this book I found a little dubious (Do prisons really put killers on whole life sentences with a history of absconding into open prisons? Would parents really leave their 12 year old daughter in the care of a neighbour they just met?) but on the whole ignoring these small details it was a good read.

I sometimes read a psychological thriller and wonder how on earth did the author come up with such a plot? What on earth is going on in their mind? The Psychopath Next Door by Mark Edwards is one of those books and I loved it, it was superbly written and I certainly could not predict what was going to happen from one moment to the next. I was definitely left wondering what is going on in Mark's mind!
Ethan and his wife Emma have recently moved into their new home in an attempt to salvage their marriage, along with their two children Dylan and Rose. Their new neighbour Fiona, appears to be a blessing when she helps Rose when she is being bullied and then offers to look after her during the school. Fiona is not the perfect childminder. Fiona does not want to keep Rose safe from harm, she wants to get revenge and to use Rose to help her to achieve it.
A fabulous, unpredictable psychological thriller by Mark Edwards which I highly recommend

Book Review: *The Psychopath Next Door* by Mark Edwards**

*The Psychopath Next Door* by Mark Edwards is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from start to finish. The novel delves into the unsettling and eerie reality of living next door to someone who appears normal, yet hides a dark, dangerous secret. Edwards' ability to build suspense and tension is exceptional, creating an atmosphere of constant unease.

The story follows the protagonist, who starts noticing increasingly odd and chilling behaviors from his seemingly ordinary neighbor. As he becomes more suspicious, the narrative takes readers into a mind-bending journey filled with twists, misdirection, and moments of genuine horror. The way Edwards develops his characters is one of the book's strengths, particularly the way he reveals the sinister side of seemingly familiar individuals.

What makes *The Psychopath Next Door* particularly compelling is its exploration of human nature, the fine line between normal and abnormal behavior, and the subtle ways psychopaths can manipulate those around them. Edwards doesn’t shy away from exploring the psychological underpinnings of his characters, making the thriller not just a fast-paced ride but also an insightful examination of the darker sides of the human psyche.

While the plot might feel familiar to fans of psychological thrillers, Edwards' execution stands out. The pacing is tight, and the twists are well-timed, keeping readers hooked until the very end. There are moments that feel genuinely unsettling, and Edwards manages to inject a sense of paranoia that lingers long after the book is put down.

Edwards' skillful writing and the depth of his characters elevate the story. It’s an intense, page-turning read that will leave readers questioning their neighbors, coworkers, or anyone they think they know too well.

*The Psychopath Next Door* is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers who enjoy taut suspense, deep psychological exploration, and a chilling look at the dangers that may lie behind closed doors. Mark Edwards has crafted a captivating and unsettling story that will stick with readers long after they’ve turned the final page.

Oh wow this was a wild ride! Just when you thought it was going to get calmer, it ramps up and there was another twist. The writing was perfectly paced and I will definitely be looking out for more from this author. The narrator was great as well. Listened to the whole thing in one day!

As usual, I loved this book by Mark Edwards. Devoured it in just a few days. What I enjoyed most about this is how it could happen to anyone and it's every mother's worst nightmare! Full of twists and turns and kept me guessing all the way through!

I loved this book! I was hooked on the first page which is hard to do. I also loved thst this book tied in with others that Mark Edwards has published, but felt enough on its own where you needn't have read them. It was also great to read a book from the perspectives of both a protagonist and antagonist! Overall I would highly recommend this book.

I loved this book! Anytime there’s a morally corrupt character, I’m all for it. Such an unhinged and diabolical story. Super entertaining and the ending went off the rails! 4.5 stars

The Psychopath Next Door by Mark Edwards is a chilling psychological thriller that keeps readers on edge from start to finish. Ethan Dove and his family move to a quiet, seemingly idyllic neighborhood in search of a fresh start. But what they don't realize is that the house next door comes with a terrifying secret: Fiona Smith, their seemingly perfect neighbor, has a dark, twisted agenda that will soon entwine their lives in unimaginable ways.

When Fiona steps in to help care for Ethan's daughter, Rose, after she is bullied, the family feels relief. But Fiona's kindness is just a façade. As she begins to manipulate Rose and quietly scheme her revenge, the Doves’ world unravels. The suspense escalates as Fiona's sinister intentions come to light, revealing just how dangerous she truly is. The intricate twists and turns leave you questioning who you can trust, and whether anyone in the neighborhood is truly safe.

Edwards masterfully builds tension, offering a narrative full of surprises and morally complex characters. His portrayal of Fiona as the cold, calculating psychopath next door is both unsettling and brilliant. With sharp writing and a gripping plot, The Psychopath Next Door is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and anyone who enjoys a story where the true horror is hiding behind a seemingly innocent face.

What a great read! We meet the Dove family - dad Ethan, mum Emma and children Dylan and Rose. They have recently moved to their new home for a fresh start. Their neighbour Fiona is also new on the street and when she steps in one day to stop Rose being bullied, she begins to make herself indispensable to the Dove family by looking after Rose during the holidays. However, Fiona has some secrets, and is out looking for revenge...

This was a thrilling story which had me hanging on to every turn of the page. The Dove family are likeable, although the daughter Rose certainly has some issues! Fiona is definitely one to to watch however, and whilst she comes across as the perfect neighbour she's obviously far from it. The storyline builds up nicely at the beginning, and Fiona's past is slowly revealed as the story moves on. After the initial build up, the pace of the story picks up a pace and we then begin to fly through it with plenty of high suspense and tension. There are lots of twists and turns right through to the end, and whilst you can see where the storyline is heading, it was a great rollercoaster of a ride to get there!

It's dark, thrilling and it had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the whole storyline to unravel. If you're looking for a nerve-wracking thriller, then look no further! Would recommend.

The Psychopath Next Door is the latest thriller by Mark Edwards, one of my favorite authors! He excels at crafting great suspense novels in which an ordinary fellow is unexpectedly faced with intrigue, confusion, and moral dilemmas in his everyday life.
This newest volume finds protagonist Ethan living in a new, less desirable neighborhood, trying to keep his wife and teenage children happy. He is well motivated and fiercely defensive of his family and their well-being. When Fiona, the new neighbor next door, becomes overly interested in his daughter Rose, Ethan’s inner alarm bells go off! He is compelled to figure out the mystery of this neighbor and her motivations to protect his daughter and family.
The plot is pleasingly complex and engaging, and it has good depth, as Ethan’s past reveals a connection to the events of the present. It is an entertaining and exciting read, deliciously twisty all the way to its startling conclusion!
Followers of Mark Edwards will be particularly pleased by the story arc and characters, some of whom are part of his Magpie universe, three novels written starting in 2013 which are prequels to this story and compelling psychological suspense.
I recommend this new thriller and encourage readers who enjoy it to seek out some of Edwards’ earlier novels for additional richness and suspense! You will not be disappointed!

Thank you to the author,Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Another great book from mark as always. I liked the slight connection to the magpies universe without it overwhelming the story. How far would you go to protect your child? What signs would you overlook?

I couldn't wait to sit down and read this new book from one of my favorite authors.

His book The Magpies was the first book I ever read of his, and having The Psychopath Next Door set in the same universe was a fantastic. I got to read a whole new book, but I also got updates on Lucy Newton. It was also exciting to see such a young character be at the center of all the action. I also love how Mark leaves the endings of his books to the readers imagination. He always leaves you thinking about how the sequel could go, even though he rarely writes sequels.

As with all of his other books, I'm now off to get the audiobook, so I can enjoy it all over again.
