The Peacemaker picks up right where The Protector ended. It continues the story of Norman and his family’s dealing with Rosa’s disappearance. The main focus, however, is on Rosa’s best friend Ada and her ex-boyfriend Ephraim. I am loving this series. I like all the main characters for the most part and I feel like I really know them. The author does an excellent job of recapping the first book so that if you did miss it, you won’t be too confused. I am eagerly waiting for the third book in the trilogy. Thank you to Netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Peacemaker by Wanda E. Brunstetter
Book 2 - A Mifflin County Mystery
An Unresolved Mystery Holds an Amish Community in Limbo
In book two of A Mifflin County Mystery series, Rosa Petersheim’s disappearance continues to cause suspicion and pain to swirl in the Big Valley.
Ada’s best friend, Rosa, disappeared a year ago and still has not been found. In their grief and confusion, Ada and Rosa’s boyfriend, Ephraim, have grown very close. But some in the community feel Ephraim is responsible for Rosa’s disappearance. Now Rosa’s younger sister is making accusations against Ephraim that can’t be true, and he pulls away from Ada, feeling betrayed. A fire set by an arsonist might finally be the thing to reveal secrets that have long been dividing this community of friends and family. But will it be too late for love between the peacemaker and the suspect?
This is Rosa Petersheim’s story.
This is Ada Detweiler's story.
This is Alice and Jacob Detweiler's story.
This is Ephraim Peight’s story.
Rosa Petersheim, disappeared a year ago and still has not been found.
“I bet this nasty weather will keep customers from visiting the greenhouse today.”
Ada composed herself enough to set the eggs on the counter and turn to face her mother. “I mean, who would want to go out shopping on a wet, dreary day like this?”
When folks want something bad enough, they’ll go wherever they want to get it, in spite of the weather.”
“I hope you’re right. I wouldn’t want to be standing around all day at the greenhouse, doing nothing.”
It had been a little over a year since Rosa’s disappearance, and a day hadn’t gone by that Ada didn’t think about the friendship she’d had with Rosa since they were children.
She hadn’t seen Ephraim Peight since he’d moved to Bird-in-Hand to live with his widowed grandmother. Ada wondered if he had talked his grandma into moving here to live with his family. Ephraim’s father, Lewis, was an only child, and Ada had heard through the grapevine that he was concerned about his mother living alone and had asked her to sell her home and relocate to Allensville to live with him and his family. When she’d refused, he’d talked Ephraim into leaving the Big Valley and going down to Lancaster County to be with his grandmother.
“H–hello, Ephraim. It’s nice to see you. Are you back living in Allensville now?”
I recommend reading this book..

I am really enjoying this series, I am really hoping for some development in the mystery department. I loved Ada though, she is just the sweetest unlike the sister of Rosa who is still driving me bananas.

Amish fiction readers will enjoy the second book in the Mifflin County Mystery series. Rosa Petersheim disappeared in the first book of the trilogy. This story focuses on the family and friends left behind still wondering about her disappearance. Each family featured shares insights about their life and faith. I felt such sympathy for Ephraim. Glad the barn burning mystery is solved but am anticipating answers given about Rosa in the final book. Recommended.

The Peacemaker is the second installment in the Mifflin County Mystery series by Wanda Brunstetter. Rosa Petersheim's mysterious disapperance continues to play a major role in this story. When Ephriam and his grandmother return to The Big Valley after his father suffers a heart attack, he and Ada's friendship begins to deepen. Could it lead to more than friendship, or will Ephriam always be pining for Rosa?

I felt like a person really got to know the characters in this story. I definitely did NOT like Ben Ebersol!

It did seem like there were a lot of different characters to keep up with in this story, as well as a lot of different towns.

I would advise that these books be read in order for them to make sense to the reader.

This was an interesting story to read, and I'm looking forward to reading the final book when it comes out later this year.

A big thank you to #NetGalley and #BarbourPubslishing for an advance e-pub of this book. All opinions contained herein are strictly my own.

In The Peacemaker, Wanda E. Brunstetter crafts a cozy mystery steeped in Amish traditions, quiet suspense, and tangled relationships. With Rosa’s disappearance still casting a long shadow over Big Valley, secrets and silent suspicions weigh heavy on the community. Ada, grieving the loss of her best friend, finds herself drawn to Ephraim—Rosa’s former boyfriend—just as new accusations threaten to unravel everything.

The story moves at a measured pace, allowing emotions to simmer and relationships to shift. While mystery lingers in the air, the real tension comes in the quiet moments—when trust is tested and long-held doubts creep in. Brunstetter captures the weight of an unresolved case and the fragile bonds of love in a close-knit world where every glance and whisper carries meaning.

Though romance weaves through the narrative, it’s the mystery that keeps the pages turning. With whispers of betrayal, an arsonist stirring up old wounds, and a love triangle that takes a backseat to deeper questions, The Peacemaker unfolds piece by piece—never rushed, never forced, just steadily revealing the truth in its own time.

For those who enjoy a slow-burn mystery with a cozy touch, this story delivers. It’s not about high-speed twists—it’s about the deliberate unraveling, piece by piece, of a community’s buried secrets.

In Bellevue, PA, everyone is still reeling over Rosa's disappearance a year ago and suspicions about her disappearance are still in people's minds. Ada and Ephraim admit their feelings for each other but accusations, mysterious fires & secrets seem destined to pull them apart. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by Barbour Publishing & was under no obligation to post a review.

The Peacemaker is the second book in the series A Mifflin County Mystery. I absolutely loved it. After finishing the last book a couple months ago I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the second to come out. I'm so blessed and grateful to NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC copy of this book!

In the book before, Amish teenager Rosa Petersheim mysteriously disappeared. Her family had no idea if she was murdered, or simply left. The police searched for her and even questioned her boyfriend who had been the last to see her, but it was eventually declared a cold case. Rosa had not left a single trace.

The Peacemaker follows Rosa's best friend Ada. Ada is now dating Rosa's boyfriend from before, Ephraim. Ada feels some guilt from dating her best friend's boyfriend, but after all, it seemed like Rosa was never coming back.

Her family is still grieving, especially Rosa's mother. Her mother holds on to every last thread of hope that Rosa will be returning.

I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Amish Fiction. It's an amazing book. I think it could actually be read as a stand-alone novel but it would be better if you read the book before because then you have the backstory. I'm giving this book five stars.

Ada is such a sweet character and I enjoyed how she worked to keep the peace in the relationships that she had.

Ephraim continues to struggle with his past but seems to be moving forward. I appreciated how much he cared for his grandma.

My favorite character was Josiah. He seemed like such a great guy who knew how to care for those around him.

The questions about Rosa and her disappearance continues in this book.

Thanks to netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own.

The Peacemaker is the second book in this series by Wanda Brunstetter. Ada has been in love with Eprhaim since they were teenagers. However, Ephraim is in love with Ada's best friend, Rosa. When Rosa disappears, her brother Norman falsely accuses Ephraim of harming her. A shadow is cast on Ephraim. When his grandmother needs help in a different town, Eprhaim moves in with her. He's not happy living there away from his family, friends and the job he enjoys. He wants to continue to work for his dad in his harness shop. When Ephraim's dad has a heart attack, Ephraim and his grandmother go home to help. Ada and Ephraim and reunited and become close until Ephraim is once again falsely accused of harming Ada. What will it take to clear Ephraim's name? Can Ada and Ephraim start a life together without the shadow of Rosa's disappearance hanging over them? Read this book to find out what happens. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review. #netgalley, #barbourpublishing #thepeacemaker

The Peacemaker is the next book about the disappearance of Rosie. Rosie's brother, Norman has given up his obsession with finding her though everyone in the community is still hopeful to find some closure. Ephraim, who was the last to see her, and a prime suspect in Norman’s eyes has moved away to help his grandmother in another county. The barn arsonist is still on the loose and destroying more properties. Will there be any peace amongst the people of the Amish community?
There are some surprises in this book that lead to new developments and major changes in the lives of some of the characters. The characters and their interactions are well developed and realistic. I stayed up late reading as I could not put this book down. The ending wraps up nicely though leaves an opening for another book.
I received an advance copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

The Peacemaker by Wanda E Brunstetter- Mystery, Relationships, Romance, Amish Fiction

The Peacemaker by Wanda E Brunstetter is the second book in the Mifflin County Mystery series. The first book in the series, The Protector, introduced readers to many of the characters featured in this second book.

Ada Detweiler was best friends with Rosa Petersheim who disappeared over a year ago. No one has seen or heard from Rosa since the night she went missing. Rosa’s disappearance continues to weigh heavy on the Petersheim family and friends. Out of necessity people have tried to go on with their lives, but still have hope that Rosa may return or they will finally get answers.

Ephraim Peight was Rosa’s boyfriend and he was the last person to see Rosa alive. Though there is no evidence, some people still suspect Ephraim of foul play. When Ephraim is asked to go stay with his grandmother and help her, he is reluctant to leave. Trying to make the best of the situation, he hopes that he will have a fresh start in a town where nobody knows him.

When Lewis Peight has a heart attack, Ephraim returns to town to help with this father’s business. During that time Ada and Ephraim start seeing each other as friends. Ada’s had feeling for Ephraim for quite a while, but would it be right for her to have a relationship with her missing friend’s boyfriend?

The Petersheim’s story continues and we see the impact Rosa’s disappearance has had on their family.

Faith is a part of this story. I like how faith was woven into the characters everyday lives. Most of the characters in the book were likeable. Not only are the main characters are featured, but also members of the families. Young, old and in between. Reading this book, you get a sense of what the community is like. I appreciate being able to read a clean novel.

I hope that in the next book of the Mifflin County Mystery series readers will find out what happened to Rosa.

I enjoyed reading The Peacemaker. The book is set at a slower pace and is more about developing the characters as opposed to an action novel. This works as a standalone novel, but you might benefit if you read the first novel, The Protector. If you like Amish fiction, mysteries, or romance novels I recommend The Peacemaker by Wanda E Brunstetter.

I would like to thank Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of The Peacemaker by Wanda E Brunstetter. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review. The Peacemaker will be released on March 1, 2025.

The Peacemaker is the second book to Wanda Brunstetter’s Mifflin County Mystery series. It picks up where book one left off. Rosa Petersheim has been missing for over a year and no one knows if she is alive or dead. Her family has gone on with their lives but the mystery of Rosa’s disappearance is always on the back of their minds. Will this book reveal what happened to her or will this mystery go on to book three?
Romance is a big part of book two. Love is in the air for two couples. Besides the missing Rosa there is another mystery in this book as well. I always enjoy it when this Author adds mystery and romance to her books. I thought The Peacemaker was entertaining, realistic and a page turner. I will be waiting anxiously for book three to be released.
I highly recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction, Romance and Mystery. If you have read book one, The Protector you will want to follow up with this book too. You could read The Peacemaker as a standalone but characters are carried over to this book from book one. I feel that readers would get more out of the mystery if they read book one first. This book is scheduled for release on 3/1/25.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader’s copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are entirely my own.

What a wonderful story Wanda E. Brunstetter tells in the second saga in THE PEACEMAKER (A MIFFLIN COUNTY MYSTERY, 2). We were introduced to our main characters, Ephraim Peight and Ava Deitweiler were introduced in book one of the series. Ava’s best friend, Rosa is still missing and some still think her former boyfriend, Ephraim is to blame.

All friends and family is having to learn to move on with their lives assuming Rosa is never coming back home.

This is a truly heartwarming story following Ephraim and Ava as the navigate their lives without Rosa.

The story is readable and believable. The characters are very realistic.

I give this book 5 stars and recommend it highly.

Thank you Barbour Publishing | Barbour Fiction for the opportunity to read this ARC. I was not required to give a positive review. Release day is March 1, 2025.

THE PEACEMAKER (A MIFFLIN COUNTY MYSTERY, 2)
By Wanda E. Brunstetter

This is a contemporary Amish mystery. It begins in Belleville, Pennsylvania. Ada Detweiler's best friend Rosa Petersheim disappeared over a year ago. Rosa's brother Norman had left no stone unturned in the effort to find his sister.

Ephraim Peight moved to Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania to help look after his widowed grandmother. He has other things that he wants to do with his life, but he's doing the right thing for his family, right now.

Some mysteries are explained in this book, but others are not. It could be a stand-alone book, but it helps if you read these books in order. I've read book 1 and I plan on reading book 3 when it comes out.

Wanda E. Brunstetter is a wonderful Amish fiction author. I love how she substitutes Pennsylvania Dutch words into her text and puts the meaning of the words in the next sentence or two. You feel like you are learning a little, while you are reading her novels. She always adds a little of the Christian faith into her books, it makes her characters seem more real. The bonus recipe at the end is perfect!

Ava Deitweiler missed her friend Rosa who had disappeared without contacting anyone in a year. Ada was working at the greenhouse when she saw Rosa's former boyfriend Ephraim purchase a hanging basket of petunias for his mothers' birthday. As they were talking, Ephraim asked Ada to come over for cake for his mothers' birthday. Ephraim was visiting his parents home as he was helping his grandmother in Lancaster as she was elderly and had issues living on her own.

Ada was glad to visit a friend, but Ephraim was not highly thought of because he was Rosas' boyfriend and they had an extremely loud fight on the night of her disappearance. Rosas' brother Norman suspected that Ephraim was responsible for her death even though he claimed his innocence.

Then Ada heard a rumor.....
