I had heard such good things about this book from friends plus i love Philippa Gregory books, and those by Alison Weir about this time period so i was quite excited to get into reading! It did not live up to all the praise unfortunately, not to say it was bad it just wasn't as good as i was expecting.
This is an alternative history following the "what if" plot line of, what if Anne Boleyns son hadn't died? What would have happened then ... I was hoping for more about Anne Boleyn but i didn't find that in this book, i guess there are lots of books out there from her point of view so that's fair enough. However, i did find that there wasn't a great deal of depth in this book, it was just very light in terms of details. I think this might be why i felt it didn't capture my imagination and hence why it took me so long to read. Maybe i should just stick to the more realistic historical books rather than the alternative histories? I really don't think i'll be carrying on with this series, i'll leave it to those who enjoyed the first book.
