Mr. Horn, reintroduces us to one of the most honorable Generals of the Second World War. General Jonathan "Skinny" Wainwright. I am staring at a photograph of Wainwright at the signing of the Japanese surrender onboard the USS Missouri and cant help but imagine the emotional tide that was washing over him at that moment. He had been in captivity for three years after commanding the combined Filipino-American defenders against Japanese forces, he participated in the hellish and Brutal Bataan Death March where his men were often murdered for falling behind or merely for the pleasure of it. Mr. Horn does an admirable job of reintroducing us to what "Duty, Honor, Country" truly mean. In his entire adult life General Wainwright strove to live up to the memory of his Father and Grandfather both who died in service to their country. This is a truly excellent book and long overdue. Please read this in this time of nebulous ethical standards and partisanship divide for a positive example of how to live a well lived life of purpose and integrity.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had that nonfiction element that I was looking for and thought the research was wonderfully done. It had a strong writing style and enjoyed the way Jonathan Horn wrote this. It had that element of history that I was looking for.
