As an Army Staff Sergeant (SSG) and logistician, *Strategic Logistics Management* offers invaluable insights that extend beyond traditional supply chain frameworks, making it a highly relevant and practical resource. The book’s application of strategic management theories to logistics aligns well with military operations, where supply chain resilience, adaptability, and strategic positioning are critical to mission success.

One of the most valuable aspects of this text is its focus on logistics-based business models and supply chain resilience. In a military context, these principles directly translate into sustainment operations, ensuring that personnel and equipment are efficiently positioned to maintain operational effectiveness. The discussion on paradoxes within logistics management is particularly thought-provoking, as it mirrors the real-world challenges logisticians face in balancing cost, speed, and reliability in both commercial and military environments.

The inclusion of real-world examples from companies like Lidl, Apple, and H&M demonstrates how logistics strategies can drive competitive advantage. While these examples come from the private sector, the underlying principles—such as optimizing supply routes, leveraging dynamic capabilities, and integrating circular supply chains—have direct applications to military logistics, particularly in contingency operations and sustainment planning.

Additionally, the structured approach of the book, with chapter summaries and study questions, makes it an excellent self-study resource for both academic and professional development. For Army logisticians looking to deepen their understanding of strategic supply chain management, this text provides both foundational knowledge and advanced concepts that can enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

Overall, *Strategic Logistics Management* is an essential read for military professionals seeking to bridge the gap between corporate logistics strategies and military sustainment operations. Its strategic focus equips logisticians with the tools to improve supply chain resilience, optimize resource allocation, and develop forward-thinking sustainment strategies in complex and dynamic environments.
