So much tension! The competition between PJ and Cole adds an element of resentment to their interactions, and as the reader it felt a little hard to shake as they began to get to know one another but still give priority to their own aspirations. It felt like an all or nothing scenario not just with the property but also with their potential for a relationship. It would have been nice to see thoughts of compromise enter in their consciousness. Overall I enjoyed the characters' eccentricities, PJ's overly concerned family members, and Cole's foster kids. Cole is one tough nut to crack! I appreciated getting to the part where PJ could get through to him and have an effect on how he thinks about himself.

Definitely a romance of the sweet variety. PJ and Cole are in competition for a house, one for a B&B the other a house for young adult foster kids. The idea behind their characters was lovely and unique. However, I didn't really connect with either one. I found myself thinking this could have been a short novella. I received a copy through Netgalley long ago, but got lost when I changed devices.

The Wishing Season is a beautifully heartfelt and wonderfully messy journey of finding who you are and what you really want out of life. This story will rip apart all of your boundaries and show you that sometimes the most unexpected and spontaneous choices we make were already written in the cards for us all along. We just had to have the courage to go through with them despite the warnings of well-meaning family and friends. Life is some of the most grueling, exquisite, incomprehensible, and stunning chain of events that brings together people whose heart is the other part of yours. That in itself is the very definition of incredible and chaotic. Thank goodness that we have someone looking out for us every step of the way to hold us when we fall apart and show us what to do with His still small voice.

PJ feels like she something to prove to herself and especially her family. She is the youngest in her large and continually growing family, and no matter she does they all demand on holding her hand and assuming that things won’t work out like she hopes. She feels that her time has finally arrived to claim her place in life and show that she can accomplish her greatest dream. She isn’t afraid to work for what she wants, and she wants this chance with all her heart. Cole was a foster kid who knows that he had it easier than most. Above all he wants to help give a helping hand to those kids who age out of foster care and have no idea where they are going or what they want to do. He knows he can make a huge difference in their life, and he is prepared to put his whole heart into his mission. Can these two highly driven individuals share not only the same building but the same roof while bringing their separate dreams to life?

PJ pulled on my heart strings when she feels like her family doesn’t have the confidence in her that she desperately wants. She may have made some bad decisions in the past, she is sure that the ones she is making now are only going to be a huge improvement on those. After all she needs to first have confidence in herself if she wants others to have confidence in her. Cole is a wonderful man with a huge heart that wants nothing more than to help create a better life for other foster kids who haven’t had a good life and just need a helping hand. These two are just overflowing with love and hope and encouragement for those around them, but can they extend the same towards themselves and each other when the going gets rough and bumpy?

Denise Hunter is a marvelous author who knows how to capture your attention so perfectly and shred your heart so completely while keeping you rooting for the characters and hoping what they need the entire time. She is a brilliant wordsmith that will delight and entertain your senses the entire time. Her books wreck me entirely while sweeping me up in a whirlwind of hope and promise every step if the way. I find myself savoring every extraordinary character and cherishing her epic literary talent more and more.

I enjoyed this story of PJ and Cole, but there was something lacking in it for me. It was not up to the level of the other books I have read by this author. I felt like the idea of the two of them sharing the house to see whose idea did better wasn't very credible. PJ wasn't one of my favorite characters by this author either. I hope to enjoy the next one more.
