Such an interating topic! I had heard mention of the Abramelin rite during a favorite podcast of mine, so seeing this title pop up on Netgalley had me intrigues to learned more. This book is well written and very informative. The author was able to take a very lengthy and nearly impossible magical rite and made it shorter and easier to understand. My only issue is that it is written with the adept high magical practitioner in mind, listing the names of particular rituals instead of the rituals themselves. The author explains that it should not be performed by anyone less than sure of their ability, so perhaps this was done intentionally. Great for established and experienced persons.
A thorough explanation of the Abramelin ritual and adjustment from the longer version to a lunar ordeal. The research is solid and I think this could be necessary reading for anyone interested in this working, especially if they want to attempt something similar. While I can tell this working is based on the Mathers workings I think it would have been better if Barrabbas had dug deeper into the history of such a working and its links back to more ancient Greek rituals such as the Headless Rites of Medusa. Still, I love seeing magicians tweak and adjust workings that are meant to be living rituals and not rote based on other flawed humans.
I would recommend this book in hand with the Holy Daimon ritual of Frater Acher.
