I feel like I’m in the minority for not enjoying *If the Ring Fits* by Camilla Isley, so please take my review with a grain of salt. While this book features my favorite romance tropes, such as fake dating and marriage of convenience, it just didn’t work for me.
The characters, especially Rowena, made it hard for me to stay engaged. I found her frustrating, constantly wanting to shout, “JUST SPEAK UP AND COMMUNICATE!” for most of the book. Her indecision and lack of consistency made it difficult to connect with her, and I felt detached from the story as a result.
Apart from the initial “meet puke” moment, nothing truly stood out to me. The pacing dragged in places, and I found myself counting down the pages, wondering when I’d finish. Unfortunately, this book wasn’t a match for me, but I’m sure others may enjoy its humor and premise.
A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC!

Thank you so much Netgalley for this amazing AMAZING BOOK 😍😍😍😍
OH MY GOD!! WHAT A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE IT WAS!
Rowena is the most humanly connected girl I've ever felt and her character growth was remarkable. She portrayed all the complex emotions every career-family women goes through. She actually has such a soft heart and deserves to be bubble wrapped!!! Liam definitely did a lot of damage....for which Adrian did an amazing job of making her into a new version of herself.
And....Adrian West 🙆🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
His character development throughout the book was extremely intrusive and heart warming to see. From a total workaholic to a family and wife first guy! Was extremely precious to see 🥺🥺 him trying, being appreciative, prioritising Rowena over everything along with being the most patient and dignified gentlemen. The support he gives her to establish her own business and after delivery duties made me swooonnnnnnn for him 🥺🥺🥺
Author Camila has done a extremely fantastic job in writing this book. Fake engagement+ pregnancy u had me there!! And spl mention of K29 : I LOVE YOU 😂
It had me laughing, crying, cooing,heart-swoon and everything as I read this beautiful book!!!!
Definitely recommending this to all the readers!! 💞💞💕💕💕

If The Ring Fits by Camilla Isley is a delightful rom-com that blends humor, heart, and just the right amount of chaos. From the very beginning, Adrian and Rowena’s meet-cute sets the tone for an entertaining and unpredictable ride. Adrian's impulsive lie about being engaged and Rowena’s whirlwind of life challenges create the perfect storm for this fake relationship turned potential true love.
One of the standout aspects of this book is how funny and quirky their initial encounter is—it’s impossible not to laugh out loud at their situation. The chemistry between Adrian, a suave investment banker, and Rowena, a sharp yet vulnerable software engineer, is palpable from the start. The tension between the two is electric, and their banter keeps the pages turning.
The "rules of engagement" trope, paired with their one-bed situations and forced proximity, builds the romantic tension beautifully. While the storyline might follow some familiar rom-com beats, the execution is so charming that it feels fresh and heartwarming. Their journey from strangers to something much deeper feels organic, even amidst the hilarity of their circumstances.
This is the kind of book you pick up when you need a cozy, feel-good escape. Though the ending is expected, it delivers a satisfying and heartwarming conclusion. It’s a perfect read for fans of lighthearted romance with a dash of emotional depth.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC! I’d highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys marriage-of-convenience rom-coms with witty, lovable characters.
**Rating:** ⭐⭐⭐⭐

4.5 Stars- I will always love an accidental pregnancy trope, and I have been loving the marriage of convenience trope lately. I love the funny and unique way these two meet. I really enjoyed both main characters and thought this covered some great topics along the way. While I felt like the pacing of the relationship was great, I did find the overall pacing of the book was a touch off for me. Otherwise, I loved this!

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC publication for an honest review.
I didn't realize this was book two of a series, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of this story.
The book begins in the present day where Adrian and Rowena are ready to sign divorce papers! Then we get to back track to their meet-cute in a public restroom which starts their fake engagement pact before the two have even laid eyes on each other. Adrian had earlier proclaimed to have a fiancé to help him get a promotion showing he was a stable, committed man to something other than to his job. Rowena was unexpectedly pregnant by her horrible ex and had just lost her job. The arrangement seemed to be a win/win for both. While the storyline was not overly original, the banter, chemistry, and solid characters made the book a fun and sweet romance. You couldn't help but want a happily ever after for our couple.
3.5 stars

Funny Feelings second book in the series. This book is about Adrian and Rowena. She is currently unemployed, he needs a fake fiancé to impress his boss, Rowena comes to the rescue, she said yes to this whole ordeal, only to find that pretending is harder than she thought. Hilarious story of two strangers who team up for a cause.

You will be entertained with Rowena and Adrian!
Software engineer Rowena Taylor has had her life turned upside down when she found out that she was pregnant by her loser of an ex-boyfriend and she lost her job. But she never expected figure out her problems in a bathroom while she was getting sick.
Investment banker Adrian West wanted to be the next head of Fulton Capital but he knew he messed up when he told his boss that he had a fiancé and they would have no problem visiting for the weekend to his place in the Hamptons. So meeting Rowena in a bathroom might be the solution for all their problems.
Rowena and Adrian have a unique meet cute combined with a marriage of convenience that will make you laugh at everything that happens between Rowena and Adrian.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was fun. I love a romcom with a little higher stakes and forced proximity!! Also props to Isley for the number of books they’ve published and still being able to create an engaging, unique story with rich characters.

First comes love, second comes marriage, then comes mommy with a baby carriage. Well maybe not in this case. The first meeting between the two main characters is anything but romantic, but they will never forget it, and neither will I.
Rowena is pregnant and has just lost her job. Adrian needs the promotion at his job. He knows he earned it, but now he needs to remake himself from the working machine he has become. He realizes his boss wants someone with balance in their life, so he mouths off to his CEO that he is engaged. Open mouth. Insert foot.
This is the perfect setup for two people who are are complete strangers who need each other and don't even know it yet.
This charming, brilliant romance was filled with wit, joy and a little sadness at times. Camilla Isley nailed it with this one. The characters were fantastic and well-developed, and the story was addictive. This might be my favorite book by this author.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When investment banker Adrian and software engineer Rowena started the day, they didn’t expect to end it engaged! But Adrian has invented a fake fiancée to impress his CEO, regretting the lie almost immediately, and now he is in hot water. Meanwhile, Rowena's career has just gone up in flames, leaving her unemployed, unexpectedly expecting with no father in the picture, and short of options. When fate throws these two hot messes into a meet-cute of epic proportions, it's a match made in rock-bottom heaven. They say love is blind, and with nothing to lose, Adrian gets down on one knee… and Rowena says yes!
The rules of engagement are simple: Pretend to be madly in love. Keep their real lives separate. Absolutely, positively do NOT catch feelings. However, faking it is harder than they thought, especially when every overnight stay comes with only one bed and zero personal space—blurring that imaginary line between ‘just business’ and ‘definitely personal.’ Soon, their carefully constructed charade starts to feel alarmingly... real. Can Adrian and Rowena stick to their engagement pact, or will their fake relationship graduate to something authentically messy, complicated, and wonderful?
Another wonderful story from Camilla Isley! This is full of all the right tropes. I absolutely love Rowena, and Adrian turns out to be a wonderful match for her. I love the fake dating/marriage trope, so this one was right up my alley. Super funny, too! 5⭐
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

I’m always a little wary of picking up books with the fake relationship or marriage of convenience trope because, more often than not, the reasons don't make much sense, and the whole conflict could usually be solved with a simple conversation. But this book surprised me—in the best way possible. Not only did the author use this trope effectively, but she absolutely knocked it out of the park!
The tension. The chemistry. It was everything.
While there was a touch of miscommunication, it wasn’t drawn out long enough to really bother me, which I appreciated. The story stayed focused on the emotional connection and growth between the characters. If you’re looking for a marriage of convenience paired with an age-gap romance, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a shot.
**Thank you so much to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and the author for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

Thank you for this arc ☺️
Personally the tropes here are some of my faves (well, except the accidental pregnancy, I'm always icky about that) like the fake dating/engagement, marriage of convenience, age gap, slow burn, forced proximity, only one bed 🥰 Some of the banter are really witty and I was rooting for the characters too. I was also pleasantly surprised at the mentions of mental health issues at the end and it was something I really related to which made me more sympathetic to FMC. It got way cheesier at the end though 😅 But I appreciated that the open door spice was put as an extra scene at the end with a warning. So the whole book only has closed door romance, yay for me ☺️

After a calamitous day for these two
Meeting together may help see them through.
Who'd think that these strangers could help each other
Just how and why readers will soon discover.
A lovely story that starts with disasters
Then moves on leading to happy ever afters.
But there's plenty of twists along the way
As emotions and others come into play.
Hot messes together both feeling ill
Yet somehow they manage to connect still.
Can fake lead to real? Read this to see
This book gets a big thumbs up from me
For my copy of this book I say thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

3.5 stars. Thanks to Boldwood Books for the widget. While this is the second book in the Funny Feeling series and you dont have to read the first one I did because I like to know exactly who all the characters are. This book is about Rowena who just got fired and is pregnant and Adrian who not only needs a fiancé but has to be pregnant.....I love that this is 2 POV so you always get both sides. This books is closed doors but somehow its still hot!!! Adrian while being a workaholic is still very thoughtful and total swoon worthy and some of the moments with Rowena were just so real and raw especially towards the end.

This is a witty and heartfelt romcom about Rowena and Adrian, who enter a marriage of convenience to solve their respective dilemmas. Rowena, a pregnant, unemployed software engineer, needs stability, while Adrian, an ambitious investment banker, needs the appearance of a family man to secure a CEO role. Their arrangement evolves unexpectedly, blending humor, emotion, and romance. This second book in the Funny Feelings trilogy outshines its predecessor with engaging characters, palpable chemistry, and clever dialogue.

Tropes:
💍 Marriage of convenience
💍 Age Gap
💍 Surprise Pregnancy
💍 One bed
Rowena is having a rough day, first she loses her job and then she finds out she’s pregnant with her exes baby.
Adrian is a successful millionaire with a reputation for being cut throat and having work be his whole life. Putting work above everything else however, becomes a problem and he needs a fake fiancé fast to appear as more of a family man and secure the promotion he wants.
Adrian and Rowena make meeting in the toilet cute and although I’m not a pregnancy trope fan, I really enjoyed this book. The whole book is a will they or won’t they take their marriage into real territory and it was such an easy enjoyable read. The banter and back and forth between Adrian and Rowena was 10/10 and it really reminded me of the early 2000 romantic comedies vibe wise.
If you enjoy Elena Armas, Lauren Asher or Millie Perez, I think you’ll enjoy If the ring fits, Camilla Isley is becoming a fast favourite and I can’t wait for the next installment.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

Pretty cute story! This was a mostly standard marriage-of-convenience / fake dating story, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. It was nice to see some cameos from other Camilla Isley stories too.
The pacing was a little inconsistent at times. So much of the book was spent on the build-up to the wedding, which, while important for developing the story, caused some of the third act conflicts and their resolutions to feel extremely rushed at the end. There was one point where an extremely important plot point happened within the span of a single paragraph, and I had to re-read that paragraph a few times just to make sure I read it correctly that that was actually happening within the span of a few sentences. I think a few more chapters towards the end of the book would have allowed the story to breath more and helped some of the character decisions at the end feel less rushed.
I still enjoyed this for a quick, breezy read, so I'd recommend if you're in the mood for something light.

Thank you, Boldwood Books, for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Rowena is a software engineer who gets two surprises in one day - finding out she's pregnant with her ex's child and then getting sacked from her job. Rowena is then struck with the realization of the impending financial struggle she faces as a single mother with no job and no health insurance. Adrian is an investment banker looking to climb the corporate ladder, but invents a fake pregnant fiancée to improve his chances with his boss. But where will he get a pregnant fiancée on such short notice? Cue the "excuse me while I barf" meet-cute in the lobby's bathroom. As they commiserate together, a light bulb flashes over Adrian's head and he offers Rowena a deal that could benefit them both in their present dilemmas: a marriage of convenience. Will they pull off this ruse or does fate have something else in store?
I wish there had been more funny moments in the story - I don't think I laughed as much as I had hoped for this to be considered a rom-com. I did appreciate that this was a closed-door romance (I read both open- and closed-door romances) and Adrian was very sweet and tender in showing up for Rowena in so many ways (a cinnamon roll MMC never goes out of style). Overall, this was a cute story.

In this marriage of convenience novel, Adrian's meet cute with Rowena solves both of their problems. Him for fulfilling his need for a fiance to impress his boss and hers to have someone to rely on as her life is falling apart. Spending time together has them both questioning their feelings as their fake relationship turns into something real.

Thank you NetGalley & Camilla Isley for this ARC. I was excited to read this, it started off great with an amazing initial flow. However, as the story progressed…the pacing became inconsistent - some scenarios and descriptions felt either too fast or slow, disrupting my reading experience. Additionally, while the characters and plot were lovely, the last few chapters seemed out of character and rushed for Rowena :(
There was a lot of room for improvement concerning the overall execution of the plot, this book could have been truly wonderful.
