🌬❄Cute art & a great message🎄

This children's story was great, with a message of the joy of sharing and friendship. The adorable little ghost quilt turns his difference from the other sheeted ghosts to an advantage as he wants to bring the beauty of Christmas lights, crafts and decorations to them in the frigid, blustery winter when his friends must stay indoors and don't know about the holiday cheer humans are creating. The little ghost quilt is giving, brave and inventive and the illustrations are really well done.

I can see a child wanting to read this cute book repeatedly and not just at the holidays.

Thanks to Tundra Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise is such a cute story of ingenuity. Little Ghost Quilt is feeling lonely and a bit lost until he stumbles upon a town full of Christmas decorations. Little Ghost Quilt thinks this is the best way to bring some joy to the other ghosts who live with him but can't go outside because they don't have a quilt to cover them like Little Ghost Quilt. Together they decorate the branch he finds and make their own unique decorations and celebration. This would be a great gift or addition to any collection where ghosts, Halloween, or Christmas are popular. My son (6) and I loved the story and the illustrations were absolutely charming and endearing -- adding so much life to the story. I think this could be a little niche for some communities and a big hit for others. The story is great and is unique from other holiday/Christmas stories but since the characters are almost exclusively ghosts I can see this being appealing or off-putting depending on the reader. Personally I found it a heartwarming, beautiful, and fun story and would recommend it!

The little ghost who was a quilt goes on another adventure! I love this one almost as much as I loved the first one (if only because I have only read this two times and I’ve read the first book approximately 15 times lol).

I just love the illustration that Byron Eggenschwiler does—they bring the story to life in such an immersive way. Who would have ever imagined ghosts dancing around a Christmas tree (in the dark of course, since they are in an abandoned haunted house)? Eggenschwiler illustrates this in a way that is true to the story and also incredibly memorable. A pair of old boots hanging on the mantle, a ballerina toy as a tree topper, it's all so charming.

I also love the story Nason spins. The little ghost loves winter, as he is a quilt and stays warm in the snow. He wants to bring the beauty and joy of winter holidays indoors so that his friends can also have fun—what’s not to love? I cannot wait to purchase this book when it publishes so my daughter can enjoy it as much as she enjoys the Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt.

This was a really cute book that was even enjoyed by my 16 year old! I rated it on Goodreads too, but I think this would lend itself beautifully to many of the standards I need to teach in my classroom along with being a model text for our narrative writing unit. Thank you for the opportunity to read it!

Cute little book about learning new traditions and wanting to share them with your friends. Sometimes it can be difficult, but including friends always enhances the joys in life.

Review:
Little Ghost Quilt, a cozy patchwork spirit and the hero of this delightful book, is thrilled that winter's chill doesn't bother him like it does his sheet friends. While they're stuck shivering indoors for the winter, he's off on frosty flights discovering the world. One night, while out adventuring alone, our beloved hero stumbles upon a human village’s Christmas celebration and is dazzled by the twinkling lights. After a harrowing flight back to his ghostly world, Little Ghost and his friends enjoy their very own holiday celebration, courtesy of Little Ghost, himself. This captivating, heartwarming tale’s message of belonging has a fundamental theme tucked into each page: true acceptance of everyone, including (and most importantly) oneself.
Ms. Nason's words and Mr. Eggenschwiler’s illustrations dance together gracefully throughout the story. Rendered in sepia, a rich brown hue commonly used in early photography, the pictures evoke a sense of nostalgia and timelessness, mirroring the tranquil mood of the writing. The illustrations have a dreamlike quality, with soft focus and a muted color palette that creates a sense of wonder and mystery. The images and are punctuated with color, using a selective colorization technique that colorizes a small portion of the illustration against the overall monochromatic theme. The end result is a breathtaking emotional display, visually emphasizing individuality, evoking wonder, and highlighting the power of the imagination.
What truly sets this book apart is Ms. Nason's distinctively comforting voice. The words flow with a gentle rhythm, like a lullaby, making this a perfect bedtime story. The prose invites the listener to safely explore the uncomfortable feelings Little Ghost Quilt experiences in the story; for example, when Little Ghost articulates being different than the other ghosts who are made from lighter fabric. Ms. Nason’s writing style is a cozy blanket on a cold winter’s day, calming little listeners before bedtime.
Aimed at preschoolers and perfect for children of all ages, this book deserves a special place on your bookshelf. If you and your child love the holidays and the winter season, you’ll adore this story as much as I did.

Atmospheric, beautifully illustrated sequel to the wonderful The Little Ghost who was a Quilt. A fa-boo-Lou’s story to read in November-December transmitting the magic of a tree created by the ghosts themselves, and of including your friends in your joy.

Thank you to Tundra Book Group | Tundra Books and NetGalley for the early access.

I enjoyed the first book in this series immensely and was so excited to see another one pop up in NetGalley!

This book had so many of the aspects I loved from the first one - the beautiful illustrations and whimsy of the world of the Little Ghost Quilt. I love that this is set in winter time as almost a continuation from the last story.

The reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because it felt odd to me that after the aim of the first book was for Little Ghost Quilt to be brave in making friends as he is and connecting with the human girl, there's no mention of her in this story besides that he hadn't been to the human town since Halloween.

I like the idea of him creating something special for his friends, but it lacked the emotional punch I felt from the first one. It was very sweet, but I would check it out from the library instead of purchasing.

What an adorable follow-up to The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt! In this sweet story, the little ghost quilt learns about Christmas and works hard to bring the holiday and all of its joy to his friends who cannot join him outside in the cold of winter. It is a wonderful example of serving others and sharing the beauty, love, and togetherness of the holiday season. The lovely illustrations are just as sweet as the story, and my children adore the silly ghost puns. The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise is perfect for a family read aloud, and I just know that it will become a holiday favorite for my little family!

The original of this story was absolutely adorable and showed how everyone has a specialty and reason for being here. However, I couldn’t read this version “winter surprise” because it was a copy of the original. I would love to still get a copy of Winter Surprise when it comes out

The little ghost is quite the special ghost with his patchwork quilt and curious nature. The Little Ghost Quilt’s Winter Surprise tells the tale of a lonely ghost who discovers Christmas and seeks out how to share it with his friends. With detailed, descriptive language, this book is sure to be a hit with early elementary readers. The contrast in the illustrations between the muted background and colorful ghost quilt and Christmas features makes the story even more magical.

I was drawn in for the illustrations because they're just perfect, but I fell in love with the OOPS-de-loop.

This is a gentle story about a little ghost who is a quilt instead of a sheet, and how awesome that is during the wintertime. This little ghost can go outside and play in the snow while his sheet ghost friends get too cold, because they're just sheets. When he discovers that it's Christmas time, he decides to bring the pretty Christmas lights to his sheet ghost friends who are stuck inside. It's such a sweet little story about a ghost who cares about his friends and will do anything to bring them cheer.

The illustrations in this book are remarkable. It feels cold, yet cozy. This takes place at Christmas time, so the Christmas decorations and lights stand out in a stark difference from the cold, monotone background of the environment.

The story is very sweet, and my own little girl got a bit emotional about the sticky situation the quilt ghost finds himself in at one point. However, when we pushed through the story, she was very happy with the ending.

It's a great story for adults to read to children, and it is also a great story for emerging readers to work their way through. There isn't a rhyming scheme, but the story holds up and is easy to follow along with.

"The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise" is an adorable follow up to "The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt" and follows the fun into the Christmas season. Just like the first book, this one is full of beautiful illustrations with just the perfect touches of color. My five-year-old daughter loved the pictures, and we had some great conversations about feelings as we read. The book has a great message of performing kind acts for others and having a sense of togetherness and cheer at the holidays. It's a sweet, cozy little book that provides a great option for bed-time reading, particularly for little ones who like Halloween and ghosts but without the scary factor. So cute, and we'll definitely be looking for a hard copy when it's released later this year.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced read!

The Little Ghost Quilt is going on another adventure and wants you to join him! This time our friend takes us outside on a cold winter day to see what those humans are up to during these long, boring months. We discover playful snowmen, beautiful lights, decorated trees and so much more!! But Little Ghost Quilt wants to share these discoveries at home too, and so a season of discoveries begins again.
Beautiful images and a wonderful story. Perfect for pre-k and up!

We loved “The Little Ghost Quilt’s Winter Surprise” by Riel Nason! My preschoolers loved talking about Ghost Quilt’s adventure in the story as well as the different emotions little Ghost Quilt experiences along the way. The illustration on every page was beautifully done with a touch of color here and there.

This was the perfect follow up to The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt where we met our little ghost and watched him overcome sadness at being different than the other ghosts and ultimately embrace his uniqueness at Halloween. This follows up with the little ghost and friends waiting out the cold weather of winter and bringing the Christmas spirit to their haunted house. It was the perfect time of year to read this and made me feel so cozy. This highlights the bonds of friendship and family and how gestures big and small can bring smiles to faces, especially at Christmas time.

Like the last book, the art in this was so detailed. The images brought the winter landscape and Christmas cheer alive.

Thank you Tundra Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

“The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise” is an absolutely delightful book! As someone who has made a few quilts myself, I really enjoyed seeing authentic quilting terms woven into the story. The narrative is both charming and heartwarming, and my daughter and I had such a lovely time reading it together. We’re both eagerly looking forward to getting our hands on a physical copy when it's released!

This was the sweetest little heartwarming story about a little ghost who is different because he is made from a quilt. Though his differences make some things more difficult, those differences also allow him to do things his sheet friends cannot. In the spirit of inclusion, the Little Ghost Quilt finds a way to bring those experiences to his friends so they can celebrate together. A beautiful story of friendship and acceptance.
