I married him for safety. He married me for love. That is where our problems lay. He thought he knew me. He didn’t.
Our love was never a fairy tale. Our stories were dark and twisted and morally gray, with survival being our motive. That meant watching out for myself first and last. But being Marcello’s wife is harder than I thought. In our story, I am the villain, while he played the knight, my protector.
This had the potential to be a great story, but the plot and character development were lacking. There were some inconsistencies, but they may be fixed for the final version. The best part of this was the adult scenes 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. Just okay for me. 2.5⭐
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.
Review of All The King's Men by Empress Chang

A steamy little novella where a secret can stick with you for the rest of your life...for better of worse, till death do they part.
Eden and Marcello made a choice in a bathroom stall years ago.
That choice was a secret.
A secret marriage.
That secret has now come out and they are having to play the role of dutiful husband and wife...though they are not so happy.
Marcello is cut off emotionally to her.
Eden's life is packed up and moved into Marcello's.
They are going to make it work, not matter if the sexual tension wants to have them rip their clothes off...or each other apart.
Love the nickname Pussycat and of course Pussycat the beautiful creature I wish to meet.
A short read but enought to get a vibe and feel on these two characters, as well as the surrounding characters from other reads, whom I am also now interested in.
This book is 94 pages of wtf is happening. The description says that it can be read as a standalone, but there was a lot of gaps in the story that I was missing important information. I don't know if that's because one needs to read the first book, or if the author simply did not flesh this story out enough. I still have no idea how the two marrying protected the FMC. I cannot tell you a single thing about either of the main characters personalities. I have no idea how the structure of the mafia works or the history of our two characters. There also was some age discrepancies (the MMC being 3 years older than the FMC but later being 1 year older), but these may have been fixed in the final copy. Unfortunately, I found this book didn't provide a good story line or even one that the reader can understand.
