I did this one as an audiobook and the book is ready by GRB.

I don’t really believe in “rating” memoirs because you can never fully know someone else’s “truth” or their perception of events.

A lot of people have lots of thoughts on the Gypsy-Rose story and Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder.

I think people who have been victimized will be able to empathize with other victims to an extent and let’s be honest, we can all say we know how we’d react in a certain situation but you never truly know unless you’re in it.

That being said some of the things described in the book are, as they say on SVU, “especially heinous.”

This entire story was bizarre and seemed made up but we know for a fact that most, if not all actually did happen.

Either way you look at it, she was given a sentence and whether you agree with that sentence or not…she served her time and this is her story.

I have been aware of Gypsy-Rose’s story for a long time and was curious to hear the story in her own words. While some of it was what I knew, there was so much more I did not. It was very interesting to hear in her words how she felt or what she thought was happening as a child and how she pieced together the truth. There were some shocking moments and there was a lot of insight into the crime and time in prison. It was quite the jump that she was married to someone, then divorced and expecting a child with another. We did not get any insight into that, but everyone is entitled to keep some things private.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I'm glad Gypsy was able to sit down and tell her side of everything in this memoir. The world's perception of Gypsy up until she was released was solely based on the media from the trial, interviews while in prison, and The Act. Within My Time To Stand goes through everything from small memories in her childhood up until she was released from prison at the end of 2023. I cannot imagine going through some of the traumatic events she has faced in her life. Her being able to narriate her own memoir was the best choice.

The challanges I had with this book are the following. First off I am disgusted that there is absolutely NO TRIGGER WARNINGS, there needs to be and why there isn't I have no clue. Throughout this book there are contradictions so it's hard to believe which is the truth or if it lies somewhere in the middle. Fact checking before putting this book together should of been high on the check list and it seems that things fell through the cracks that stories have changed throughout the years so again it leaves the reader questioning if you can believe the author.

Thank you NetGalley and RBmedia for providing me with an audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.

**This review will be written without any biases on the criminal case itself.

***At the time this review was written, Goodreads has turned off reviews for this book.

It was really nice to hear Gypsy’s side of the story after hearing everything from social media the past year or so. I cannot imagine enduring what she endured, and being able to come out of it as she did.

Luckily, the book itself was written well (I assume due to the other two authors who contributed). It all flowed well, and was easy to follow.

I listened to this, and I think Gypsy’s voice really made this a better experience. If you read this (which I recommend you do if you’re into true crime and/or memoirs), I definitely recommend the audiobook.

Typically I do not rate memoirs as it is someone’s personal experience. If I were to rate this book, I would give it a 3.75/5, rounded to a 4!

I loved this audio book.

Even though I am familiar with the Gypsy rose case I loved hearing it from her perspective from beginning to end. I love how she started the book talking about her childhood. I learned so many things about her case, her life ect that I didn’t know about.

Such an interesting and emotional read.

Gypsy finally tells the world her side of the story in her own way. And it's nice that she also got to do the narration herself. This is a very informative book. A lot of new information is shared by Gypsy about her life and a lot of her upbringing. She gets pretty vulnerable at times and opens up about things that I'm sure were very hard for her to relive through the memories. And she does a wonderful job narrating her own story. If you're a supporter of her then you should definitely read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for allowing me to listen to this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

i enjoyed this book.
i appreciate the authors, and net galley for giving me the ability to read gypsy’s full length book. i read the short writings upon release so i appreciate the book for a review. i did try to review on goodreads but it is currently not allowing me to post a review(if you’re reading this on goodreads, i made it). i have full intentions of posting when allowed.
i listened to the audiobook which is read by author which i like. i am neutral in my approach to gypsy overall, i don’t hate her and i see flaws in her, but i also empathize with her story. the book was written well enough and i enjoyed reading and got through quick because it was easy but also because it engaged me.
many will read this book, empathizers, those with dislike for gypsy, and those curious about the story.
though the reviews are overwhelmingly hateful, the story was explained fairly candid with some accountability.
i could have heard less about gypsy and nicks relationship but you know what i guess it was important to the story too.
overall i didn’t hate the book, and feels candid to me.

I have been following Gypsy’s story for years, I find it very interesting and was immediately invested. I love this audiobook, hearing her side of the story and also in her voice. Things you haven’t heard before coming to light, the things she went through to get to where she is now. I really enjoyed this audiobook!

Thank you NetGalley for the ALC!

I was so curious about this story. You never know when you read a story if it is all true, of course. However, I wanted to get more of the story. I listened to the audiobook and I thought she did a good job narrating it. I like when the author narrates.

I am conflicted on what to think at this point; if she is a victim or a perpetrator. She admits she is both. Her life did seem very sad and terrible and it is tragic how things ended with her mom as well. It is hard to write a review on a book like this though but it was worth the short listen.

I am torn on how to give this review. The audio book was fantastic. The narration was great, but there are so many inconsistencies with Gypsy- Rose's story! I feel as though her story changes to suit her needs. I really don't know how I feel about this one.

As someone who has followed Gypsy Rose Blanchard's story, I deeply appreciated her vulnerability and willingness to be an open book in My Time to Stand. Her courage to lay bare her experiences, emotions, and personal growth is both compelling and admirable. Gypsy’s honesty makes this memoir a valuable insight into her journey of reclaiming her life after years of unimaginable abuse.

That said, I found the writing style to be a bit inconsistent with Gypsy’s authentic voice. If you’ve ever heard her speak, there’s a natural, conversational way she expresses herself that didn’t always translate onto the page. At times, the narrative felt more polished or formal than expected, which created a slight disconnect between the Gypsy we know and the words in the book.

However, despite the stylistic choices, My Time to Stand remains a heartfelt and powerful story of survival and self-discovery. It’s clear Gypsy poured her heart into sharing her truth, and for that, I commend her. If you value raw honesty and the power of reclaiming your voice, this book is still worth the read.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I received an arc audio of My Time To Stand. I really tried to come into this book with an open mind and just listen. The book was very well-written and I really enjoyed hearing it read by Gypsy herself. It was awful to hear the terrible things that Gypsy went through by the hands of her mother. It is really hard to imagine having such a sheltered life where you do not know that your normal is, in face, not normal. I think it was very brave of her to write this memoir through her own eyes and feelings. I would actually love to read another book from her once she becomes a mother.

I listened to the audiobook and the author is the narrator. It took a couple of chapters to get used to her voice and there was a surprising lack of emotion while telling her own story. An editor was needed as this book is full of inconsistencies, sometimes from one paragraph to the next. There was at least one major inconsistency per chapter-usually much more so I don’t know which was actually true. I was left with a lot more questions than answers and I would not recommend this book as it was so poorly written.

Gypsy's memoir of a horrific childhood that she endured at the hands of her mother. Overall a very interesting memoir. I feel like Gypsy's narration was easy to follow as a listener. TW: molestation, abuse, murder.

My Time to Stand by Gypsy Rose Blanchard offers a deeply personal look into a life marked by unimaginable abuse. As a victim of her mother’s Munchausen by proxy, Gypsy was deprived of a normal childhood and forced to live a lie of illness and isolation. This memoir gives Gypsy the chance to share her side of the story, something she’s rarely had the opportunity to do before.

Since her case became widely known, it’s sparked a lot of controversy, and many still question her involvement in her mother’s death. But reading Gypsy’s words, it’s clear she’s not asking for sympathy—she’s simply telling her truth. Who am I to judge her for that?

While the book gives a heartbreaking look into her early years, I did wish for more about her time in prison and what life has been like since her release. That part of her journey felt a bit underexplored, which is why I’m giving it four stars instead of five. Overall, though, Gypsy’s story is worth reading and sheds light on the resilience of someone who’s been through more than most can imagine.

I picked this up because a lot of people have been giving it low ratings without reading it or listening. You can't rate a book without reading it at least part of it. So I decided to put my own feelings about Gypsy's crimes aside and give this a read.

I really tried. I was was making terrible faces the entire time. Gypsy is a disabled woman who is trying to process the procedures done to her to manage her microdeletion and other issues. She maintains that she does not have symptoms or disabilities but it is clear when looking at her baby photos and videos that she is disabled. Embrace it Gypsy! A microdeletion is a real thing and does cause these issues.

She took the feelings she had about her disabilities and her procedures and turned those into anger and blame towards her mother. She also just really loves men. I mean she really loves them.

It is no secret that I am a "hater". Gypsy reminds me of my dad's very young wife. She is also obsessed with men and sex, to the detriment of everyone around her. There are certain things we take the the grave, but some gals just do not seem to get that.

However, books are about entertaining or informing people. This mess absolutely held my interest for the 6.5 hours I listened to it. I was honestly impressed with Gypsy's narration so good on her.

Thank you to NetGalley and Recorded Books for the digital copy of this book; I am leaving this review voluntarily. Goodreads has decided to not allow further reviews or ratings on this book, so I am unable to share these thoughts on that platform at this time.

I don't want to say I've had my head in the sand, but I don't remember Gypsy-Rose's story at all, just the kerfuffle when she was released from prison. This was interesting to listen to but be aware of some serious trigger warnings for really dark stuff. I had a basic understanding of Gypsy-Rose's life before her mother's death, but I had no idea what a grifter her mother was until I listened to this. The things she made her daughter do all to keep receiving free aid was appalling, to say the least. But that's no reason to unalive her.

This story has some contradictions that should have been dealt with by the editor and ghostwriters. That's why I can't rate it any higher than I have.

⭐️I no longer rate memoirs, non-fiction, etc, and these thoughts are all my own⭐️

This left me extremely conflicted.

I have followed Gypsy's story for a long time, as has most of the world.

While empathizing and feeling horrific for Gypsy and all the things she has had to endure in her life, I do not condone the unaliving of her mother. Many of her actions and words make it harder to feel for her, but I have thankfully never been her position so it truly is hard to judge the situation.

Pro:tip:

CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS, and if you choose to listen to the audio, put it to at least 1.5 speed.

Thank you, NetGalley, the authors, and RB Media for an advanced listeners copy in exchange for an honest review.

Listened to the audio and really enjoyed it being read by her. Has information and such that was not known before the book. Really feel for her and the situation.

3 stars. This was an interesting listen. On the narrator herself, the cadence was definitely a little awkward. Especially after hearing the epilogue/reasons for writing, the narration definitely feels disjointed compared to Gypsy’s normal speaking voice. As far as the story goes, I think the story telling, pacing was really good, and I appreciated that we got what felt like a whole picture. That also led to a little confusion over how I was supposed to feel while reading. Maybe that is just the nature of this situation, but I felt flip flopped between feeling like Gypsy was a victim and like she was an active participant in a lot of the scams that went on. Overall, this was interesting, but without the media frenzy around Gypsy Rose (and Ryan and Ken) I don’t know that I would pick this up under other circumstances.
