Such a lovely book of poetry about water. The poems are interesting and would be a nice introduction to the various concepts of poetry. As a non-poetry person, I think the illustrations are better than the poetry, but that is just me. I think kids will like it much more than I do.

Poems throughout the book explain different topics pertaining to water - rain, water conservation, water cycle. Good for a poetry unit or for a science library but might not be helpful in the science curriculum.

I like how the poetry is full of information, but isn't bogged down by it. It's a great way to teach kids about water.

A wonderful and engaging collection of children’s poems; I personally learned a new word (crags) and this book is teeming with fun alliterations, engaging prose, and water related facts. The illustrations of the environment and the various people were gorgeous and inclusive and were fun to pick over for little details. A slight warning; the rest of the book is certainly eco conscious to a normal and inspiring degree but the second to last poem, ‘A Chorus of Danger,’ may be slightly distressing to children already wary or scared witless from climate change. I’m sure a perceptive kid would be able to connect (and question) the mention of melting ice caps and the polar bears perched on those caps on the very same page, but the book does end on a more uplifting poem! Everything else is also so informative and exciting I’m sure it wouldn’t be the focus of any reading time. Just figured I’d mention it, since I wasn’t expecting it myself.

Each double-page spread was bright and busy, chock full of images, inviting a young reader's engagement. Each double-page spread featured a poem that rolled off the lips like water tumbling, or chucked and cracked like polar ice. This could be read one poem at a time or in one big gulp. I liked the science aspect combined with wordplay and think this book is a great resource for teaching kids about the cycle of water. My one complaint is the final page, not in poem, about climate change and the need to reduce, reuse, recycle. That message seemed tacked on as an afterthought and would have been more effective if it was integrated throughout.

This children’s book of poems is beautifully illustrated and helps highlight the different uses of water and why it’s such a precious resource. The various poems are engaging and coordinate well with the imagery on each page. My daughters both really enjoyed reading this and we can’t wait to add it to our home library!

My children and I loved this book about different uses of water. We all learned a lot from reading. The poem format was really unique.

I enjoyed reading this quick book with my son. It is a collection of short poems about water.
I loved the illustrations I felt like they helped enhance the story.
I do wish the poems were shorter & maybe not as twisty for my toddler to understand, because he is at the age he wants to learn more about all the different topics. But that being said, this book would be perfect for school aged children.
Thank you Mandy Ross & NetGalley for the eARC.

A vibrant collection of poems about water: where it comes from, how we use it, why we need it, and how to take care of it! This is a great basic introduction to the water cycle and general environmental facts, and it's inclusive of so many different people, animals, and places on Earth. It is also accompanied by cute, colorful illustrations.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.
