Really strong classic science fiction, if that is your thing. Leans hard and space opera. I personally wasn't a fan of the protagonist, but it is more of a taste thing than a problem with the writing.
Interesting initial concept, but I lost the thread of the main plot by a third of the way through. I didn't think it a good sign that I had read over 200 pages and gotten to where I didn't know how what I was reading was supposed to be advancing the plot. Maybe there was something there, but I just couldn't do it I lost interest and patience, and was disappointed since this book had initially sounded promising.
Sorry, my apologies to the author and publisher for the lateness. This was a rip roaring novel filled to the rim with action, horror and so many ideas. I enjoyed the nod back to previous plot lines and cannot wait to read further adventures in this universe. Highly recommended.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a new subseries in the author's long-running Commonwealth space adventure series. While it stands alone, having the backstory from earlier volumes will increase appreciation. Recommended for fans of science fiction which features big wondrous ideas.
