Listen this will NOT be for most kids but I personally love a weird and funky kid's book. I think it's good to expose young readers to stories and art that don't look like anything they've seen before. Broaden their (and your!) horizons. This is a very deep and introspective story told with such few words. The artwork is stunning. I would hang pages of this up on my wall if I could. This is the type of story that will absolutely be impactful for a handful of kids, especially ones who have experienced loss. I will say that the text was extremely hard to read on my phone and I had to zoom in a lot, but this obviously won't be an issue with a print copy (assuming it's bigger than 2 inches lol.)

This one was deep. I love that the story was from the aliens' points of view about a visiting astronaut. Even though they didn't quite understand him, they were interested and cared about him. There were some pretty emotional moments.

This book just did not work for us. The font was way too small. We were not quite sure of the plot of the book. My children did not like this.
