Thank you Joffe Books | Choc Lit and NetGalley for this advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Best Wrong Move has a great premise of a rom com to love with some cute moments. But the characters and plot lack depth and substance. Parts drug on for much longer than needed and others felt rushed. Liv and Dom’s relationship is cute but the spicy scenes were flat and sometimes cringy.
I was in the mood for an cute romance with some drama and spice. Well im happy to say this book delivered just that!
I had an absolute good time reading this and was giggling and just so invested in our main characters development. And the tension, romance and spice was just amazing. Im not normally a fan of insta love, but in this book I absolutely loved that! Olivia goes through a journey of finding who she is and I absolutely love that, sometimes when things feel like the end of the world they actually open a door to something better and thats exactly what happened in this book!
Dom on the other hand... absolutely boyfriend material, he felt so kind and just gave me kinda golden retriever vibes which was cute. The chemistry between the two main characters is just delicious! I do feel like I would have loved to see a bit more about the side characters and their personalities. I also felt like maybe I would have enjoyed to see different sides of Dom. But i absolutely enjoyed reading this book!
I want to thank Netgalley for an advanced reader copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.
I will be placing my review on Amazon once its published!
Love this book so much I got grumpy anytime anyone interrupted me!
The MMC is a golden retriever, but with dark hair. He is also so protective of the FMC’s feelings.
The FMC has been through the ringer! She is a huge reminder not to let others dictate your relationship or to judge yours against what others say it should be.
All is well in the end and set in a beautiful backdrop
But I’m gonna need this to be a series! I need juju to get her happy ending because she was basically an innocent bystander who got taken down and definitely the lovely over worked lawyer!
I really enjoyed this book, it was so smooth I just flowed through it in a couple of days.
Olivia learns a harsh lesson about proposing live on air to your boyfriend when he turns her down and she becomes a laughing stock of New York.
She fleas to Hawaii and begins to learn every thing happens for a reason when she meets her landlord Dom.Their relationship starts off very slowly, but boy does it build. I loved the way Dom was written and he was worth the reading the book for that alone.
Definitely recommend.
Every girl dreams of the perfect proposal.
And my boss thought it would be a ‘media moment’ if I proposed to my boyfriend, Rex, live on national TV. With everyone watching.
Rex said no.
Now I’m a social media sensation for all the wrong reasons and hiding out in Hawaii.
But because the universe apparently hates me, so is Rex . . . with his supermodel new girlfriend!
To avoid total humiliation I need to find my own irresistible date. And the gorgeous surfer who looks like he’s walked straight from the ocean and into my fantasies is the perfect solution.
He needs a distraction. I need help.
Dom is the perfect fake date and the heated looks between us are enough to convince everyone we’re in love.
But why are the fake sizzling kisses suddenly beginning to feel all too real . . .

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was sweet and fun and a quick read over the weekend. I enjoyed following Olivia and her development. However I found the short, choppy chapters a bit jarring, and I also struggled with some of the side characters (constant putting-down of JuJu in the first half of the book felt super harsh) and felt a bit not-like-other-girls which always feels uncomfortable.
Overall, a light and sweet read.
The book had an interesting start. Since I hadn’t read anything by this author before, I wasn’t familiar with any characters who might have had a backstory. The story begins with the female lead proposing to her boyfriend on-air, but he says no. Fast forward, and they end up living in side-by-side townhouses in Hawaii. He’s now with another woman, prompting the female lead to embark on a fake romance with a “surfer.” This sets the stage for a classic fake-romance-turned-happily-ever-after storyline.
Thank you to NetGalley for this arc version of the story in exchange for my honest opinion
Thank you, NetGalley & Lily Parker, for this absolute gem of a book.
First off, can we take a moment to appreciate DOM? Moment of silence for that man. Loved the descriptions of him (moooooore), and he was the perfect mix of funny, protective, and swoon-worthy. Olivia’s journey from (a VERY public) heartbreak to finding herself (and love, obvs) was so relatable and heartfelt. The chemistry, the tension, the banter. the SPICE? Perfection.
The setting was the cherry on top—Hawaii was so vivid, I could basically feel the sand between my toes. Even the secondary characters (like my girl Juju) brought so much charm and depth to the story. Overall, this book was a delicious mix of humor, heart, and just the right amount of drama. If you’re into rom-coms with lovable characters, stunning settings, and “can’t put it down” energy, this book is it. This author is new to me, but I will be remembering her name.
5 stars!
The best wrong move begins with Oliva being rejected on national television by her boyfriend Rex. Olivia decides to take trip away from everyone to recover from the aftermath of the very public breakup. On her first day of her vacation, she meets Dominick while she's trying to get into her rental place. With oliva's luck, her now ex-boyfriend is also on vacation and of course is renting the place next to hers. I enjoy the dyanmics of the characters. The book felt very long and the story probably could have ended sooner than it did.
Thank you NetGalley & Lily Parker for the ARC.
First of all, helllooooo Dom, that man is hot!!!
I liked the story, the characters and also the side characters a lot. I knew the little juju/rex thingy when juju said Christmas but it still was well written, although I would have loved for the girls to have this conversation face to face rather than by text but again, small details.
I also really loved that it wasn't easy for Olivia just because she was dating Quinton's brother.
I feel like the chapters could be longer, sometimes we were switching chapters but the story continued right where the last one ended. For the length of the book, I think you could easily make it work with like 35 or so chapters.
Overall, good story, good writing, loveable MMC & FMC.
4 Stars.
This book, brimming with classic rom-com tropes, is a delightful whirlwind of chemistry, charm, and irresistible tension between Olivia and Dom It’s the kind of story that leaves you laughing, swooning, and fully invested in their journey to love, all set against the dreamy backdrop of Hawaii’s tropical heat. With its perfect blend of humor, spice, and heart, it’s impossible not to root for these characters to find their happily ever after. I enjoyed it.
It was a real page-turner that I devoured in one sitting. While I'm not keen on books referencing TikTok, this one was only mentioned once at the beginning. I was drawn to Dom's character and the mystery surrounding him. The friends and side characters were great, but I felt we only scratched the surface of their stories. I'd have loved to see more scenes with them, especially exploring Olivia's friendships with the wives of Dom's friends. More Cliff scenes would have been fantastic too. On a separate note, I had to look up what a kaftan was, but that's a minor detail. All in all, I loved this book and can't recommend it enough.
