I downloaded this book to help me re-wire my brain - I've been stuck in a slump and trying to get myself out of it. I wake up, sort the kids out, go to work, pick the kids up, make tea, clean, get the kids to bed and then go myself. Repeat the next day. The next week. The next month! The last TWO YEARS!
Ive come out of a marriage and I'm doing it all by myself for the first time in a long time - this is scary in itself and trying to navigate it all has left me feeling a little lost. 2025 is going to be the year I get it together.
And the opening chapter saying that even the author thinks of thriving mode as survival mode - that is what I'm in now, and I knew this book was for me.
This book helped me break down every little thing I have thought about into bite sized pieces - how do i get to the end goal? what steps are needed to get there? And how can I look at each part as a new adventure? I used to think of the end goal and when one little thing didn't go to plan, my brain told me that the end goal was now not possible nad I should just give up. But no. We don't think that! We adapt and work out a way round it to achieve the goal.
(Unless I'm on about the gym and my bum hasn't reached peachy level in one week. It's not giving me the happy hormones working out is supposed to do, so I'm not gonna do it any more.)
Social media is my downfall - endless scrolling for no reason other than what else is there to do? I need to stay in the loop.... which loop? whos loop? Why do I care so much? The little tips and tricks in this book really helped me open my eyes on what I was doing and guided me through small changes to make a better, healthier change overall.
I hate the term "self-help" when these types of books are around. The whole point of self-help is you are helping yourself. How can someone else self-help you? They can't. These are guides - the guide you on your way along your self-help.
This book has helped me on my journey so far and it is going well... Let's hope the rest of 2025 goes as smoothly as the first 2 weeks
