“First, policemen started being arrested for murders, and now policemen were increasingly being murdered.”
Detective Megan Carpenter is no stranger to murder, both personally and professionally. Mostly working alone as her partner Ronnie is home with family after their last difficult case. Investigating the case of a murdered detective, Susan Dupont, is disconcerting to Megan. Furthermore, as gruesome as the murder was, the fact that Dupont’s body had been strategically laid across the dividing line of two counties is utterly shocking to Megan and her team.
Even within twenty-four hours, another detective’s body is discovered. While it appears to be an unfortunate accident, Megan is certain that there’s a connection between the deaths of both detectives. Despite her deep involvement in the investigation, Megan has a personal matter that demands her immediate attention. Not only is Morgan being stalked by a man named Wallace, but a revelation about Megan’s past could shock even her partner, Ronnie.
When Ronnie joins Megan on the case, she realizes she must navigate the delicate balance between her professional and personal life, especially as that line starts to blur rapidly. Despite Ronnie’s assistance and her unwavering loyalty to Megan, her inner demons begin to resurface. I thoroughly enjoyed the constant struggle between good and evil.
This book by Gregg Olsen is a thrilling and fast-paced read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s a brilliant book that made me uncomfortable more than once, which is a testament to excellent writing, an intriguing plot and likable characters.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Final Victim by Gregg Olsen is full of suspense and dark gritty atmosphere. Well done characters that fit the story line perfectly.
I was hooked from the first chapter to the last, couldn’t put down.
Once you start reading it, you won't want to put this down once you start.

This thriller is jam packed with suspense, twists, and action. The main character has a stalker who is aware of her past, there are multiple law enforcement members who have been killed, and an old friend of Megan's shows up. Having not read the previous books, I was a little confused at first as to whether Megan was on the right or wrong side of the law. I loved the mix of characters, the humor, and how the storyline progressed. This is one of those stories that keeps you turning the pages until everything is resolved.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Final Victim is book six of the Detective Megan Carpenter series and the author gives us a great big dose of Megan’s past. As Riley, Megan hunted serial killers and took them out permanently. Now she tries to bring them to justice legally within the law. She has a stalker that references her past and a serial killer murdering dirty cops. In an action packed thriller, Megan’s past comes crashing into her life leaving her hunting another killer. The book twists and turns but the whodunnit wasn’t a total shock. The story was fast paced and suspenseful for a pulse pounding thriller. My voluntary, unbiased, and non-mandatory review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

Wow! It's been awhile since being in Megan's world and it was worth the wait. Full of suspense, this one grabs you at the beginning and doesn't stop. We finally get answers about Wallace. The ending left me stunned! I think it was the perfect conclusion for the series. But if this is the end, I'm really going to miss the characters.

Thank you netgallery for the ARC. This is my first book by this author even though I’ve heard great things about his book IF YOU TELL. I didn’t realize this was part of a series but after reading it, I want to read the others. There was lots of killing and some gory details which I love. I did figure out one of the twists but it was still a really good book that held my interest and kept me me up late at night.

I love the Det Megan Carpenter series. This one was probably my least favorite of the 6 books, but still a twisty read as always. It seemed like this book was rushed and had somewhat obvious plot holes. We’ve been wondering when Megan’s past is finally going to catch up to her, but not knowing who the sinister Wallace character truly is. It ended up being a little obvious, I thought, but I don’t want to put any spoilers out there. Everything worked out too easily, but I guess the ending is left open for a new twist in Megan’s life and another book. Thanks to Bookouture and Net Galley for the ARC of Final Victim by Gregg Olsen for my honest and independent review.

When the body of Detective Susan Dupont is discovered lying across the dividing line of two counties, Detective Megan Carpenter is immediately called to the scene. When her body is examined they find a sharp piece of metal has been lodged in her eye. A detail that takes Megan back to a deeply-buried memory which she has long been running from. Twenty-four hours later, retired Detective Riley Denton is found dead at home. His death is deemed a tragic accident. He fell down the stairs and had no enemies.
Why would anyone want him dead? But Megan feels sure there is a link to the deaths and there is only one person she can trust with her theory. Calling in the help of her partner Detective Ronnie Marsh, they start to piece together a link that places Megan right at the centre of a deadly plot. As they race to find the killer before they strike closer to home, a string of murder victims going back years starts to emerge. And when Megan discovers how the murders are linked, she has to finally accept a dark truth she has spent her life running from.
Gregg Olsen does it again! This is one of my favorites from many of his I've read. Excellent writing, perfect pacing that kept me turning pages from the beginning, and a satisfying ending. Go read it! 5⭐
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

*This is not my first Olsen book but it is the first I’ve read of this series and it’s definitely can be a standalone in my opinion.*
This novel is fast paced with shocking twists! Olsen does a great job of describing the place and people.
The characters are compelling as well as memorable and Megan is definitely someone you can cheer for. Her character is three dimensional, like-able and relatable. The secondary characters are well-rounded and the relationships are believable.
Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Final Victim by Gregg Olsen. A gripping and fast paced thriller with multiple twists and turns. Book 6 of the Megan Carpenter series but the first one I have read. Background histories of the characters and past events are skillfully woven into the narrative making the characters more relatable. The sarcastic interchanges between Megan and Patterson provide comic relief in extremely intense moments. Nan is a character both literally and figuratively and it is amusing to see her integrate herself into the investigation much to the dismay of Megan and the rest of the team. Looking forward to reading more books with Megan and the team
Thank you to Gregg Olsen, Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Final Victim is book 6 of the Detective Megan Carpenter series. This is my first book of this series and it was good! It was a little slow at first, but then it got interesting! The ending was twisty!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Final Victim by Gregg Olsen picks up right where the previous book ended. Detective Megan Carpenter is returning to Port Townsend after solving her partner, Ronnie's, mother's kidnapping. Ronnie stayed behind to be with her family for a bit. On the travel home, Nan (the sheriff's busy-body assistant) calls Megan to let her know that "Wallace" stopped by the station to see her. Wallace is Megan's stalker and has been emailing her over the years. He indicates he may know about Megan's past - a past she has moved away from and wants desperately to keep behind her. Also, Megan is called to a cross-jurisdictional crime scene to help with the murder of a police officer. Which introduces a number of new and fun characters - including Donna, who shares Ronnie's digital expertise. The expanded team, along with the Sheriff who is not adhering to his wife's diet, are such an incredible and tight cast. I hope Mr. Olsen keeps them in his books (especially Patterson and Donna - who have a lot of the same qualities of the dynamic duo of Ronnie and Megan). The murder case quickly spirals as the team investigates and learns of more law enforcement deaths in the region. Absolutely faburous! I cannot wait for the next book!!! A great big thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this excellent book. The opinions experssed are my own.

A killer from Megan’s past keeps showing up…..will she be able to stop what is happening????? It’s a frantic race for Megan and her partner, Ronnie, to figure out what is going on before it’s too late for all evolved.
Will Megan’s past of so many secrets be coming back to get her???? She is well aware of murder….not only professionally. She has knowledge on a personal level.
Fast-paced read with so much mystery and suspense, you will be anxious to get to the end of the story.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Final Victim is an engaging read with lots of action, mystery, humor. Megan doubts her reasons for being a detective, a position in which she can kill. Is she just answering her inner instincts? Her life unravels when Wallace's threats become too near home, then Caleb - an almost boyfriend from her past - shows up, and things start to get enven more creepier, it seems like her past is knocking at her door and it'll swallow her. I could not put the book down once I started reading it!
I thank Mr. Olsen, his publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

This book cpuld be read as a standalone as the author tries to keep ypu up to date with what's happened to pur detective. But I feel it would benefit everyone hugely to read as much of the background as possie via the other books.
It's still a good crime thriller. It's a brilliant t edge of your seat, pieces fitting together piece of work.
I enjoyed it as my anxiety steadily rose. And I was really worried for our characters at points!

First, I want to thank Gregg Olsen, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
Ohh how I have missed Gregg Olsen’s Detective Megan Carpenter’s Series! I have been a huge fan of the series since his first book came out. Even though I am sad to learn The Final Victim is Gregg’s last in the series-he saved the best twists for last.
If you have not read any of Gregg’s Detective Megan Carpenter’s series I highly suggest you do because they are each amazing stories! However, you could read it as a standalone. I say this because Gregg refreshes the reader of the ups and downs of Megan’s past and how it has shaped the woman she has become now.
Megan’s stalker Wallace brought out all the mysterious twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my comfy chair, wide eyed, and glued to my kindle.
This was a twisted must read book that you have to add to your TBR list.

I just couldn't get into this book. It seemed all over the place with a lot of characters and just didn't read smoothly for me. I kept realizing that I was having to read the same paragraph again and again because it just wasn't holding my attention. Finally gave up and didn't finish.

I read books 1-5 to prepare for this ARC and I am glad that I did. There was so much backstory I would have missed. I love me some Det. Megan Carpenter, she is such a kick-ass woman. This wasn't my 1st foray into Gregg Olsen's books but it is my 1st time reading his fiction books. He has made the jump form nonfiction to fiction seamlessly. He is now on my always-read list.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for this earc! This was one Captivating suspense novel! I’m excited to look into more of the authors work in the future.

This is a fast-paced book with plenty of twists and touches of humour. I found it a bit difficult to follow at first because the author feeds you Megan's past from the previous five books which I hadn't read. Despite that, I enjoyed the story and it's an easy read.
