Thank you Netgalley and Farrar, Straus and Giroux for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Tess Sharpe delivers a fast-paced, twisty romantic thriller with “No Body No Crime,” a book that throws you straight into the action and doesn’t let up until the final page. The story follows Mel Tillman, a rural private investigator, who is tasked with finding her long-lost first love, Chloe Harper—only to uncover a tangled web of crime, revenge, and a dangerous family with secrets that refuse to stay buried.
The story opens with a dramatic plane crash, immediately pulling you into Mel’s desperate search for Chloe. From there, the story alternates between multiple timelines: the present-day search, events from months and weeks prior, and the past when Mel and Chloe were sixteen and committed a murder that changed their lives forever. These shifting timelines build suspense, though they can be a bit disorienting at first as you’re trying to figure out what exactly is going on and what all is at play in these different timelines. However, once all the pieces start coming together, the payoff is well worth it.
One of the strongest elements of “No Body No Crime” is the dynamic between Mel and Chloe. Their past romance—intense and forbidden—adds emotional depth to the story, though I did find the romantic progression a bit rushed, mainly when the two were teenagers. However, experiencing a shared trauma does help people bond, and I thought the level of emotions in their relationship felt consistent with teenagers experiencing their first love. That said, Sharpe does an excellent job of balancing the love story with the thriller elements, ensuring the romance never overshadows the action. Their bond is tested as Chloe, now on the run, fights to protect Mel from a powerful crime family that has been hunting her for years.
The book is packed with tension, unexpected twists, and moments of dark humor that keep the tone engaging. Some of the villains, all named Richard, add an almost comical touch that balances out the high-stakes danger. The side characters, including the hilarious Rick and the twin characters, add richness to the world, and the peacock squad (yes, actual peacocks) is a surprisingly fun highlight.
While the dialogue occasionally interrupts high-tension moments with emotional declarations that feel out of place, the overall pacing is snappy, making it an addictive read. The feminist themes woven throughout, particularly toward the end, give the story an empowering edge. The conclusion is deeply satisfying, tying up loose ends and delivering well-earned justice.
With its gripping premise, strong character dynamics, and thrilling twists, “No Body No Crime” is a must-read for fans of suspenseful, high-energy thrillers with a touch of romance. Sharpe proves once again that she knows how to craft an unforgettable ride.

I've been a big fan of Tess Sharpe since reading The Girls I've Been. No Body, No Crime reminded me of this book. I enjoyed it but possibly my expectations of it were a little too high. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this digital ARC.

Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this book.
I just want to start by saying that cover art is perfection. If the title wasn’t enough to intrigue me, the cover art does overtime making me want to pick up this book and not put it down until I’m finished reading.
No Body No Crime is a thriller that makes you think and wonder about the upcoming twists and turns because they’re weaving themselves throughout the multiple POV plotline. Sometimes a book told in multiple perspectives isn’t all that, but in No Body No Crime, the multiple POVs work together to complete the whole of the story. The voices are all unique and necessary in order to build the world of this book.
I love reading a book and putting it together like a puzzle, and No Body No Crime is one of those puzzles of a book. I slotted the edges in place during the initial chapters and then worked on fixing the rest of the pieces together. Midway through the book, I wondered about something. One of the characters. What was being said about them. What wasn’t being said about them. I just wondered what was going on. And then I thought maybe just maybe this is what’s actually going on. (I won’t reveal that here because it’s a major spoiler.) At that point in the book, the puzzle began to come together, but I was holding one piece in my hand not quite being able to find where it fit. And when I was able to secure that puzzle piece, it felt like triumph.
There are a few plot holes throughout the book that made me scratch my head at times because I wanted more information about the character or the event that was being described; however, this didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book.
Sharpe is a solid storyteller. Her writing is crisp and concise. Her characters are intriguing and frustrating at times, and crafty and bumbling at other times. And there are peacocks crashing out here. I mean, what more could you ask for? Go read this book. It’s good, good.

Thank you to NetGalley and MCD for an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe and when I had a chance to read an advanced copy of this book, I was pretty excited. I did enjoy this book more.
Mel and Chloe went through an experience in high school that brought them closer together, but physically further apart. Chloe goes on the lam and Mel isn’t aware of the big picture. Mel becomes a PI to track down Chloe and figure out why she never came back. When they finally reunite, Chloe tells Mel the whole story and the crimes are significantly more involved than she originally thought.
This book was a good time. Though I didn’t feel there was a lot of character development of Chloe and Mel, I did enjoy them as characters. I was initially put off by the back and forth of POVs and timelines involved, but Sharpe did a great job of keeping everything pretty straight so there wasn’t any confusion about who and when you were reading about.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good time murder mystery. Especially if you enjoy sapphic characters. The romance wasn’t too involved or heavy, as the main characters were running for their lives and/or separated most of the book, but just enough of a sprinkle.

What an amazing book!
This book is the story of Mel Tillman and Chloe Harper who on the second’s one sixteen birthday murdered and buried Toby Dunne together in the backwoods, and let me tell you that the most surprising thing about this is that they really didn’t know each other very well before this event but I guess nothing can bond you as murdering and buring someone together can.
Now years later Mel is a rural PI who is tasked by Chloe’s family with finding her since she’s been missing for the past six years, Mel who can’t resist the chance of chasing the one who got away with her heart accepts the task. But when she finds Chloe it isn’t what she was expecting and the reasons of why Chloe was hiding are also more complicated than what they seemed since she was doing it mainly to protect Mel from a powerful family Toby took something from before they murdered him.
This story will grab you in the first chapter and won’t let go of you until the very end, so be prepared to lose sleep over it. Because this romantic thriller has everything it promises. It’s told alternating between the present and the past and I have to say that although I usually don’t like this, Tess Sharpe does it in a way in which the past adds to the story and helps to understand the characters better.
About our two main characters they were really badass and I really liked that it was showed through their actions and not just through words like it’s done in many other books, also I loved their romance and the connection they shared, you can trust Sharpe to write a fenomenal romance. If I have to complain about something it’s probably that I found the pacing was a little odd sometimes and that the villains were all called Richard confused me a bit on who was who.
Definitely recommend this book
Huge thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for this ARC.

My major issue with No Body, No Crime was the dialogue. The characters would often stop right in the middle of high tension scenes to have heartfelt moments or overwhelming declarations of feelings and it just kept taking me out of the book.
That aside, I liked reading this. I loved the dual timeline, it added to the build up of the climax.
The tension, when it was allowed to build, was well done. I liked the characters, some of them were really funny (read: Rick). I'm not a big thriller reader and I did guess most of the plot twists beforehand but I found I enjoyed how said plot twists were set up enough that it didn't affect my reading experience.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc.
No Body, No Crime was a fun and quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed all the twists, especially as the book progressed.
I also love that it had a happy and satisfying ending for the main characters.

2⭐️
Unfortunately, this was quite a letdown for me.
The first pages were somewhat intriguing but I soon lost interest in the story.
I didn't particularly care either for the plot or the main couple.
Nonetheless, I want to thank the author, the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

this is for jackieshauna lovers: secret high school lovers, plane crash, wilderness survival, and murder!! i absolutely loved this book (yes im obsessed with yellowjackets) but i found the pacing to be odd to say the least. get stabbed and are bleeding out and dont mention it again until you are in a different state or find out someone is not dead and dont tell the family. i get this was high stakes tension but i wish there was more rekindling of the relationship, i mean its been 6 years!!

Before I get into my review of “No Body No Crime”, I’d like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
I’ve never done this before so bear with me, I couldn’t finish this book. I dnfed at around 33%, which is so disappointing.
Honestly, this book just couldn’t hold my focus and had me so confused from the get-go. (Which I was expecting, but not to this degree.)
I wanted to try a different genre than I’m used to and this book was definitely out of my comfort zone. So much so that I, unfortunately, dreaded even opening NetGalley to continue reading this book.
I hope the right readers find this book and love it more than I did!

dnf’ing currently, i 100% knew what i was getting myself into, yet i want more romance/chemistry between the leads and the mystery-thriller vibes have never quite been my cup of tea 🫣 but i was trying to branch out for the sapphics!!!

This book is EXCELLENT. This is my third Tess Sharpe novel and by far the best I’ve read. Definitely one of my favorite books this year.
What a captivating story with so many different interesting characters and twists and a beautiful love story in between. I was literally looking forward to finishing this book all day and now I’m devastated it’s over. Truly loved it.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!❤️

I've been a fan of Tess Sharpe since 6 times we almost kissed, and she didn't disappoint me with No body no crime.
The jump back and forth was confusing at first, but it helped retain the mystery element, and kept you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put this book down and I stayed until 4AM to finish it.
Tess Sharpe did an amazing job with the dynamic between Mel and Chloe. The tension between them had me rooting for them from the start. Though I would've liked a few chapters developing their relationship in the past.
The side characters and the villains were well-developed. I really enjoy Mel and Chloe's friendships with the twins, and the bond between the twins. The villains and their henchmen were so dumb, but in a campy, funny way. I don't usually enjoy the male villain's POV, but I was laughing while reading his chapters. And don't let me start on the feral peacocks, it's so absurd and bizarre but very fitting in the grand scheme of things.
There're some plot holes, but it didn't hinder my enjoyment. Overall, it’s a fast-paced book with slightly evil women, so much yearning, feral peacocks, and campy villains.

THIS WAS SOOOO GOOD!
I've recently become a fan of Tess after reading "The Girls I've been", i ended up reading all of her past books and they did not disappoint at all. I absolutely love Mel and Chloe and their relationship (shoutout to Gigi as well!). The story was pretty fast paced, and that's something i love in Tess's books. You just never know what to expect next, and you're kept in suspence the whole time.
I'm glad i got to read it early, as i was very excited for this book and it did not let me down as i was expecting. I will definitely be buying multiple copies when this releases!

THIS WAS INCREDIBLE.
The pacing was snappy, and I loved the dual timelines and POVS; it kept everything so fresh and exciting.
Chloe and Mel are a fab duo, and I liked how the romance was secondary to the plot/action but also intense.
I've been a fan of Tess' books since To All The Girls I've Been, and this one was equally pacey and fun.
Shoutout to the peacock squad!!!
Also, I loved how the bad guys had lowkey funny personalities.

This book started out well, dropping the reader into the middle of the action and letting the story come together in fractions of past and present. But as it went on, I got really fatigued of the constant melodrama. All of these characters kept having deep, expositional conversations where they said exactly what they felt, repeatedly, and I was taken out of the story by how unnatural it all sounded. There were also a few plot points here and there that made it hard to suspend my disbelief, and the straw that broke the camel’s back was what I’m going to call the “peacock deus ex machina.” Just… no.

i’ve been a big fan of tess sharpe ever since i discovered the girls i’ve been back in 2021. she had me hooked from the first moment, and hasn’t let me go for a single second since. she has such a talent for thrillers — i know every time that i’m in for girls & women kicking ass, twists i don’t see coming, and a little bit of tenderness to sweeten the pot! no body no crime served that right up for me on a silver platter, and i ate it up. chloe and mel had me hooked from their very first appearances on page, and i really loved the supporting cast, too — especially my girl gigi! i hope she knows i would die for her. i also had a lot of fun reading about the bag of dicks (iykyk) and their shenanigans.
this book truly has everything. buff women. a plane crash in the canadian wilderness. feral peacocks. girls who kill people that turn into women who kill people. a bag of dicks. katniss reincarnated. things that stay buried (or don’t). if you love a dual timeline narrative, you’ve ever listened to uptown girl by billy joel and wished it was about murderous sapphics instead, you support women’s rights and women’s wrongs, or all of the above, do yourself a favor and read no body no crime!!! i know that i already can’t wait to read it again.

Chloe and Mel were both such great characters to follow throughout the book and I loved getting both of their POVs alternating throughout the book. I also really enjoyed the occasional chapters with the POV of other characters but I'm glad that the majority of the chapters were either Chloe or Mel. It was very funny to read how frustrated (yet somewhat impressed) the men were by Chloe and Mel's intelligence and skill during the POV chapters from the men. It was great to read about how smart, strong and skilled Chloe and Mel were without them coming across as being perfect or having no flaws.
The book was a great romantic thriller and I feel like Tess Sharpe did a great job of balancing the two genres in the book, as well as including flashbacks that provided context for both the romance between Chloe and Mel in the past and the reason Chloe had to run away in the first place. The pacing was done very well and the flashbacks that were used didn't hinder it at all. I was hooked from the very first page and very eager to find out what happened in the past and what was going to happen in the present, and I was definitely surprised by the twists in the book. I was rooting so hard for Chloe and Mel's relationship as well.
I did get a bit confused by the Newell family tree at points throughout the book given most of the men mentioned are named Richard, but I did eventually understand it enough that it didn't hinder my reading experience. I think this may have just been a me problem though as the author used nicknames to differentiate them. I think if I had paid more attention to the nicknames and explanations in the beginning it might not have been as confusing.
(While I was reading, the book reminded me a bit of the meme/phrase (?): 'I support women's rights and women's wrongs'.)
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic thrillers, queer representation (both Chloe and Mel are described as bisexual on page), and any of Tess Sharpe's previous books.

***Trigger Warning: Cancer***
I read this book because of the Taylor Swift song ( which slaps). I should have paid more attention to what I was reading. I thought this book was awful. It kept jumping from the past to the present and was hard to keep up with. I did think that this book started off strong, and it made me want to keep reading. But it lost all of the intense vibes and made me bored.
