Although I would have found it easier to read in paper rather than the Kindle, I enjoyed this book told from the perspective of Virginia Wolf's sister. There are so many characters involved I couldn't keep everyone straight when reading on the Kinde. Although the book dragged occasionally (whose life doesn't), I learned a lot about the sisters and the Bloomsbury group.
Maybe this is some peoples cups of tea, but it sure wasn't mine. It took me over two weeks to get through this book. I don't know if it was the style of writing or what but every time I picked up this book I was exhausted.
I got halfway through this book, and had to put it down. The story just did not hold my interest, and I felt like the author already expected me to know who the characters are, so I felt lost a lot of the time. This may be one I come back to later on, but for now, I have to say that this book just isn't for me.
This might just be the year that I give up on reading Virginia Woolf and fiction about her.
I will read anything that has to do with Virginia Woolf. And with this I was not let down at all. Great for Woolf fans as well as those looking for a story of sisters.
I love all things literary, and this book did not disappoint. what a wonderful imagining of the exciting life of the Woolf sisters and their friends in the Bloomsbury group.
Reading this book, I so wished to be a part of that group, especially when Rupert Brooke showed up.
This book is so brilliantly done, particularly in the way the author handles the sometimes touchy relationship between the two sisters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so much so, that I may even read it again.
An interesting look at the lives of Virginia Woolf, The Bloomsbury Group and life in London when things were focused on intellectual success and the relationships you kept. Family secrets and betrayal also are woven into this story. . This would make a great bookclub book.
