Love Unexpected is the first book in the Beacons of Hope series, however there is a prequel novella which I've read. I don't think it is important to read the novella before this story, but I did find it neat that the characters from that story were mentioned in this one. 😊

I loved Love Unexpected! The characters were amazing and I felt for them. Each had a past they were ashamed of and because of that the message of forgiveness and grace was so strong. I loved it.

The romance was sweet, although a little heated at times. Not anything too steamy, but I only recommend this to mature readers.

The ending was great and I had a difficult time putting the book down (finished it in one day!). I can't wait to read the next one.

I've read almost all of Jody's books to date, but I didn't like this one, and don't think I'll continue with the series.
