Thanks to NetGalley and Querencia Press for the ARC.
I kinda get what they were going for, but it was a confusing mess in execution. Switching between multiple unconventional forms in what's ultimately supposed to be prose did not help my comprehension. For a novella, this took a while for me to read.

Check out this review of Acid Taste on Fable. https://fable.co/review/e6b03e27-15d4-4b70-b09b-ac2b8fda6489/share

I'm extremely confused what the author was trying to do with this book. The writing style is so strange, I tried my best to read and understand it, but I couldn't, straight DNF after 15%.

I understand what this book is trying to do, but I do not think it worked for me in the slightest. The variance in structures just completely removed me from the story. Im familiar with authors who do not use quotation marks, so the lack of direct markings for who is speaking or what exactly is being said aloud vs internally actually worked for me and I was hopeful at the beginning that we’d return to a somewhat standard structure, but alas, it kind of got worse (and not in sense of quality, but perhaps more in unpredictability) the further you go. Book II was impossible to read on e-book because of its structure, it may look better on paper, I cant be sure. I do like the author’s intent behind this, the whole acid trip is well conveyed, I just fear I am not a fan of literary acid trips.

This book could have been 100% better if it stuck to one writing style/format. Alongside this the punctuation would have made all the difference for an easier read.
I understood what it was getting at the majority of the time, however a large amount of the book’s individual stories weren’t consistent. It was barely a line in between sections before locations or objects changed.
Due to this I couldn’t finish all of it.

The creativity in this collection absolutely astounds me. Acid taste by emilie galindo is a curious collection, I feel like it’s something that must be read over and over to truly understand.

I did not like this book, not even sure if it was a book. too much was going on, but the plot wasn't really there/not being followed. think it was a hot mess of a writing piece.
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

Acid Taste is described as experimental which really excited me because I love when narratives are told in a new way, but to me this experiment failed. I spent so much time while I was reading trying to follow the plot, and sort through dialogue/stage directions/music lyrics, that I didn’t have an opportunity to feel immersed in the story or to become attached to the characters. I think a lot of the ideas are really cool and if this was a longer novel where I had more time to acclimate I might feel differently.
There were a few striking quotes and moments where everything worked really well, but they were quickly lost with everything else going on.
