Amazing read! Thank you NetGalley! The book was gripping from the start! My jaw dropped a few times! I really hope there is a part 2 of this book because it ended on a cliffhanger and I want to know what happens next!

This was a decent read but I’m not sure how much it stands out against similar stories in the genre. The book centers on Claire, whose husband Tom acts a little off for a couple weeks before disappearing without a trace one morning. Claire knows he wouldn’t have left her and their young daughter on purpose and sets out to delve into his past to figure out what might have happened.
The story could be fast paced but is a tad repetitive, as Claire tells the reader something and then regularly repeats that to another character. I also found it a little hard to believe that she would blow off her important job and leave her traumatized child at home to go on what seems like a wild goose chase to find Tom (not to mention with an ex-boyfriend along for the ride). That being said, I do think the hunt for Tom was interesting and I was invested in the uncovering of various clues that got her closer to the truth. I had an inkling is the big twist at the end but didn’t have it exactly figured out, and I thought it was done well. I thought the end was ok- didn’t bowl me over but it tied up loose ends well.
Overall, I thought this was an ok read but I am not entirely sure how memorable it will be after I read a few more books. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a thrilling, eerie ride that plays on your deepest fears. Claire's life is turned upside down when her husband and daughter vanishwithout a trace, and she’s forced to confront the unsettling possibility that everything around her might be a lie. You really feel her fear and confusion as she steps far outside her comfort zone, getting tangled in dangerous situations and even a criminal underworld. The pacing is spot-on, and the twists kept me hooked. It was an intense read, and I didn’t want it to end!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. A well written and plotted domestic suspense that will keep you engaged and turning the pages.

This storyline has been done hundreds of times, but I still really enjoyed this book. The characters were well written, and I was invested in Claire's quest to find her missing husband. I thought the book was well-paced and I liked the short chapters and regular cliffhangers. The only drawbacks for me is that there were no surprises and because of the sheer amount of 'missing husband' stories out there, it didn't feel fresh or exciting. Overall I would recommend this as an enjoyable thriller, especially to those new to the genre.

Truthfully, this wasn't my favorite read but it wasn't bad either! I just didn't really connect with the characters, but I do think those who enjoy mystery/thriller books will really enjoy this!

Woooo weeeee yes! 100% I would buy this book to re read. Absolutely amazing! You may think you know what will happen but in reality you don't.

An engaging storyline. However, I could not connect with the characters. Clare’s determination to discover the truth was interesting but I found her leaving her traumatised child in pursuit of her husband rather unbelievable.. I am afraid I can only give this book 3 stars

I do not remember the ‘shocking twist’.
So, I finished reading this last week and I now realize that I remember almost nothing about the book. I mean, I can remember that it was a little slow, but solid enough to keep me reading. I do remember a couple of basic plot points.
But I do not remember the so-called shocking twist or even being shocked or even how the book ends.
Just…poof! And, it’s gone.
I hope your experience is different.

This book had a great plot with intriguing characters. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of Eight Years of Lies. I liked the cover, that’s what caught my attention. The book was very slow and it was not what I expected at all. I had a different mindset going into the story and the turn it took was not what I liked. It didn’t do it for me, I’m sorry.

Seriously good, mysterious and terrifying at the same time. The best books are the ones that feed on your own personal nightmares, this is no exception. Claire has a normal life and when her husband goes to work and does not reappear then that’s when her own personal nightmare begins and everything that she had believed in starts to unravel. The belief is that this could seemingly happen to anyone and what if your whole life around you is based on lies. Yes terrifying. You really get a good sense of Claire feeling out of control and acting on whims and completely out of her own comfort zone which is exactly, I would imagine I would act in such a situation. The writing is brilliant and you can really feel her desperation and terror as she delves into some dangerous situations including a criminal underworld so far from her usual reality. The pace of the book is superb and it’s twisty and takes you to places you don’t expect. I loved this and was sad when it ended.

For eight years Claire, Tom and Isla have lived in a near prefect lifestyle until one fateful Tuesday when Tom disappears off the face of the earth.
Claire, with the help of family and friends tries to find out where Tom could possibly have gone.
Going back to his past and meeting characters Claire knew nothing about.
A great easy read, with a few twists and turns.

I thought this book was an okay read. It was an easy read but didn't really grab me ,I am not sure why I didn't enjoy it more. Maybe because I didn't really take to the main characters. Hope other readers enjoy it more.

Eight Years of Lies by Lisa Hall
Love reading books by this author , and this one is up there with the best .
Lots twists, lies and secrets, this one will keep you on your toes from page one. Loved the ending and it was completely a big surprise and kept me guessing.
Great characters who you could completely relate to and I was wanting to know how it would pan out for them .

Having struggled with a few books lately, the title of this book piqued my interest. Its held it throughout too. I was desperate to know why Tom Bennett had disappeared. . His wife, Kate certainly tried hard enough to find him. I thought I knew how it would end, but guess what, I was wrong but definitely not disappointed. A gripping read from start to finish.

Wow!!!! Lisa Hall has once again delivered a masterful domestic suspense and I devoured it in record time. This was by far my favorite by her and I can't wait to see what she has planned for her next book.
Eight years is a long time to live with and sleep next to someone only to discover you didn't know the real person beside you. This is the summation of Tom and Claire's marriage. Thinking she is truly blessed to have an adoring husband, a beautiful daughter, and a fabulous job, Claire is shocked to her core when Tom doesn't pick their daughter up from school and fails to return home. Though everyone else believes he left her willingly,Claire refuses to believe this is the case. Enlisting the help of her former boyfriend, Adam, now a police officer, she embarks on a mission to find Tom and prove everyone wrong.
Filled with so many twists, lies and secrets, this one will keep you on your toes from page one. The ending was a shocker for sure and left me thinking about it long after I finished reading. The characters were real and and easy to become emotionally attached to. The writing was spectacular with plenty of details and emotions. I highly recommend this book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for an advanced copy

EIGHT YEARS OF LIES BY LISA HALL.
Release date set for the 19th of February 2025.
I love the cover of this book.
The blurb had me soooo excited to start reading.
The first chapter had me intrigued during it and by the end of the chapter i was HOOKED LINE and SINKER,
I was so excited turning into chapter 2 and let me tell you something this book was amazing iv'e loved every single second of this domestic thriller.

Lisa Hall always delivers the twists and there are some pretty wild ones here! I loved Eight Years of Lies, I could have easily read it in one sitting if I didn’t need to get up for work the next day. So addictive.l so full of tension and lies.
Claire thought she knew her husband Tom. Turns out she doesn’t know him at all. Who is this man that she married and where has he disappeared to? And the biggest question of all is why? Imagine the fear and the pain if this happened to you? when the police tell you that they can’t do anything to help you, would you take matters into your own hands?
Pick this up and just go with the story. Sure, not everyone would go to these lengths but isn’t that why we read, it was a fun escape read and I loved it. Lisa Hall is absolutely a must read author for me.
Thanks so much to Joffe Books on NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. Publishes on February 19th.

Eight Years of Lies by Lisa Hall is a gripping domestic thriller that follows Clare Bennett, who believes she has the perfect family life with her husband Tom and daughter Isla, until Tom mysteriously disappears. As the story unfolds, Clare discovers a web of lies that shatter her perception of their happiness. Despite the unravelling deceptions, she remains convinced that someone is keeping Tom from them, though the reason remains unclear.
The storytelling is engaging, with a narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. However, the leap in plausibility becomes a challenge, as Clare's willingness to walk into obviously dangerous situations to save Tom can be difficult to accept. This aspect of the story caused some struggle in fully embracing the plot.
Overall, Eight Years of Lies is a solid read. It offers a compelling narrative and well-crafted tension,
