Suppressed Memories, dreams, nightmares, are a fascinating subject, and when they are fitted in a story with a great set of characters and the right setting, we definitely get an amazing book. This definitely was the case of Little Black Lies.
Zoe Goldman, a resident psychiatrist, is dealing with a new patient, a sociopath who murdered her mother years ago. But Zoe has her own set of trouble, nightmares and suppressed memories about her own mother, and things just kept going worse and more twisted.
I liked Zoe, a lot, from the beginning. She has this crazy part in her, in a good way, with a touch sarcasm and funny ways. The fact that she was far from being the perfect doctor and person, made her almost a perfect character. And the stories really caught me, i always loved the mysteries about memories.
All along i was trying to figure out the real story, and i was extremely thrilled to find out that i was not wrong about it.
Another thing i liked is the mix of characters and the relation between them; the author created some funny situations in an environment that is usually pretty dark, and it was really good.
It was also interesting that the story was told by Zoe, that made her feel closer, like i was really sharing her nightmares.
I really enjoyed this book, and i am looking forward to reading other stories of Zoe Goldman. And i definitely recommend it!
