I adored this story!!! But before I go into why, a big thank you to NetGalley, Harper Audio, and Ms. Meg Jones for an advanced listener copy to the audiobook for Clean Point which I will recommend to many others! :)
Okay, so the story goes: girl gets burned by her dad (who was basically a second coach) and leaves the sport he cares more about than her, goes a bit wild in rebellion (which does allow her to reconnect with her love for the sport and her other family), then gets approached by her first coach to make the comeback she deserves, giving her dad the middle finger in the process when she starts playing doubles with the guy who, as a young upstart, beat him so badly he left the sport. Meanwhile, that former young upstart is on his own comeback/vengeance tour after a knee injury and surgery, but he definitely hesitates to do it with the girl he thinks cheated. Neither of them want to trust the other but they have mutual trust for their coach and persist.
Sprinkle in a bit of contempt turning to compassion turning to attraction, a slight age gap romance, a SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW burn of a romance, a playlist fit for any swiftie (or lover of modern female and NB singer-songwriters), and being set in a sport I always wished I could have been better at (played in high school but not great)? I was SOLD.
Now for the audiobook! This was as solid as any audiobook can be- 5/5!! I think the narrators were PERFECT for each character- the narrator for Scottie was perfectly striking the balance of confident and irritable but also soft and wounded girl (and she also voiced other females quite well, but maybe wasn't as strong at narrating the male voices such as the coach). The narrator for Nico? well, lets just say some of the more spicy scenes were VERY well acted. He was able to narrate this level headed guy who found himself growing soft for Scottie when he was initially, to be quite frank, rude to her.
Their pacing seemed typical- though I did find myself listening more at about 1.5 speed than my usual 1.25, so maybe it was a bit slower than other stories. However, the editing of the audiobook made it very clear when new settings or chapters were beginning, and the narration around the inter-chapter highlights (like the media headlines or tweets and playlist songs) were nicely done as well.

Oh my gosh this book was so good!! I loved the banter and it was so moving to watch two characters who had been through so much find someone to be by their side through the difficulties of professional tennis. Nico had massive Travis Kelce energy. He was initially suspicious of Scottie but once he gets to know her, he is her staunchest supporter and it was the cutest thing. I adored watching them fall for each other and find the support they've been lacking. The way they were both so proud of the other and wanted the other to succeed was absolutely adorable. The romance arc was so satisfying but I also loved their individual arcs too. Watching Scottie spread her wings and play on her own (not under the influence of her father) was so inspiring. Definitely pick this book up if you're looking for a swoony, steamy sports romance because Meg Jones 100% delivered with Clean Point. The narrators were fantastic as well. I'm so glad I listened to the audiobook because they definitely brought the banter to life in a really fun way.

Scottie has resigned herself to being misunderstood in order to get the freedom she so desperately needs in her life. Nico thinks he knows Scottie, but he’ll learn she’s a much stronger person than he’s given her credit for.
Clean Point is a story of perseverance and ignoring others’ perceptions of you in favor of being true to yourself. I love that this book brought attention to sexism and double standards in sports. I respect Scottie’s integrity and Nico’s determination.
Nico and Scottie have great chemistry and this book had just the right amount of spice. If you love sports romances, steadfast MMCs, and spice, you’ll love Clean Point.

Thank you @netgalley and @harperaudio for the arc . I really enjoyed this spicy rivals to enemies tennis romance audio. The chemistry was well written and the narrators of this audio were perfect. I could feel the frustration , tension and love. I will definitely be reading more books by Meg Jones.

I did enjoy this book and story. I thought the storyline was cute and had good depth. The spice was good but I lacked the connection between the two MCs. I would still recommend this story to friends.
The actual sound of the audiobook was frustrating. The female narration was much louder than the male! I had to constantly adjust the volume when it would switch between POVs.

Enjoyed the story but wasn’t obsessed. The accents made it hard to comprehend with me having to listen to some parts multiple times. I truly believe I would have like this book more if I had the text along with the audio.

This was such a great audiobook! The duel narration supported the story and provided an immediate connection to the main characters.
The spice was nice- open door yet not distracting from the plot. The way Scottie and Nico grow (individually and together) felt organic.
❤️🔥 Enemies to lovers
🎾 Comeback story x2
Thank you to Meg Jones, Harper Audio and Netgalley for this ALC. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Thank you NetGalley, HaperAudio and Meg Jones for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book but wasn’t itching to put my AirPods in to listen to it (might just be an audio vs physical book thing for me since I don’t frequently do audio).
Scottie and Nico were both really fun characters and easy to like (despite Nico being a bit grumpy at the start because let’s face it, I love a grumpy MMC)
Scottie is so confidently herself other than her fears of being seen as a cheater. I appreciate the sex positive stance she had even when the media was all over her.
I love that Nico appears to be such a tough guy and then ended up being the biggest softy. I like that he was always willing and wanting to stand up for Scottie but also gave her the space to stand up for herself too.
The healing and growth they did together was really neat to read.
Scottie’s dad is pure garbage. The end.
Tropes:

I wanted to love this one more, but honestly i think what i struggled most with was the narrators accents. it was very hard to focus for me, i think if i would have eyeball read this instead, i would have enjoyed it more.
first let me start with the good, i loved the plot. it was fun and and the beginning was a drama episode i thoroughly liked. there was amazing character growth after the trauma they both experienced and they both helped each other heal SO well. i thought that was handled beautifully but Meg Jones. the characters themselves, Scottie and Nico were so good and i could definitely feel the chemistry between the two and it was fun to watch their hate turn to love! i loved learning about these character outside of their love for the sport. i think that was so important within this story and seeing them heal properly.
again, i think the main reason i struggled was the narrators. i just didnt vibe with their voices. it was hard at times to push through and i had to take breaks due to how ... almost annoying their voices were to me. it turned certain parts of the stories plot sour for me due to how they read it. i truly think i would have enjoyed reading the book more than listening to. so overall as a whole i would say this book is a solid 3.5 stars for me. but i am excited to see what is to come next from Meg Jones within this story timeline. and other characters within this story. it was a first for me for Meg Jones and i definitely will continue to read her books in the future.

Many thanks to @netgalley and @avonbooks and @harperaudio for the #gifted advanced listening copy of this sweet, spicy, and thoroughly entertaining romance set in the high-stakes world of professional tennis. The audio is out today. It is also available in print and on KU.
Scottie Sinclair is nearing the end of her two-year ban from professional tennis after a shocking doping scandal. While she owned up to using a banned substance, the truth she never revealed is even more devastating—her father, a former tennis legend, secretly spiked her smoothies. With her career derailed and her name dragged through the tabloids, Scottie has spent the last two years indulging in a lifestyle far removed from that of a disciplined athlete.
Enter her former coach, who is determined to orchestrate Scottie’s comeback with a plan that’s as bold as it is brilliant: teaming her up with Nico Kotas. Nico, 33 and nearing the end of his career, has spent years at the pinnacle of the sport, including defeating Scottie’s father at age 18. Now recovering from surgery and seeking one last shot at Wimbledon—the only Grand Slam he hasn’t won—Nico reluctantly joins forces with Scottie. As they train together across stunning European backdrops and the hallowed grounds of Wimbledon, they find unexpected joy in the sport—and each other.
This book is a delightfully fun slow-burn romance with just the right amount of spice. But it also dives into weightier topics like betrayal by a parent (yes, Scottie’s dad drugged her!), the relentless grind of professional athletics, and the sexism female athletes face in the public eye. The chemistry between Scottie and Nico is electric, and their journey from reluctant allies to partners - both on and off the court - is beautifully crafted.
The dual narration by Mary Jane Wells and Patrick Zeller is phenomenal. Both bring depth and emotion to the story, making this 11-hour and 32-minute audiobook utterly engrossing. I’ll definitely be seeking out more from these narrators!
This is just the beginning of a 4-book series, and I couldn’t be more excited. If the rest of the series is anything like Clean Point, we’re in for a treat!

What a great story of overcoming challenges and mistrust all while falling in love! I adored Scottie and her strength to push through, and loved Nico's support and trust in her! I laughed, I teared up, I swooned!

I like the narrators but the story reminded me too much of Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid and it was hard to disconnect the two while listening. Overall not bad story though

I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO STAN MEG JONES! She has curated THE most iconic song selection (other than the Clinton Kane jump scare) to date. I may not have been a tennis girlie before this, but I can now confidently say that I’m a changed woman. It’s a 4.5 ⭐️ for me. How about a round of applause for Nico Kotas??? A man a man a m-a-a-a-an!!!!
I loved the emphasis on the misogyny seen in modern media and the effect it had on Scottie. I also really appreciated her newfound outlook on training, food, and life in general after everything went down. As a former athlete with restrictive diet, it is SO healing to read about her changing the status quo.
I reallllllly liked the audio for this book. I think both narrators fit extremely well and I loved the accents. However, I found Nico’s “out of breath” scenes to be annoying. It doesn’t translate well to anyone listening over 1.25x speed.

All I have to say is: wow. This was my first audiobook ARC and it made me wish that time didn’t exist so I could simply sit and listen to it constantly. I loved Nico and Scottie, and the narrators did a flawless job of embodying those characters. This was the absolute perfect book to end my 2024 reading campaign!
I loved how these characters had depth and history and yet I still saw an incredible transformation in both of them throughout the story. I want to be fearless like Scottie becomes and passionate like Nico is. Really, I want these characters to come to life and be my tennis idols.
I really loved this audiobook. I felt that the pacing from the narrators really added to the story and gave me extra context. Their voices matched the characters in my head, and I could listen to either of them talk for ages now. I will be buying it to keep forever so I can listen to it again and again!
Thank you to HarperAudio Adult for the opportunity to read and review this book! I received a free advance copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you to Harper Audio and NetGalley for this ALC. I loved this book so much more than I expected to! It gave me Carrie Soto is Back x Stick It (the gymnastics movie - have you seen it?!) vibes. A solid enemies to lovers romance that handled some deeper topics beautifully. I would definitely like to read more from this author.

I absolutely LOVED Clean Point by Meg Jones! This is the story of Scottie and Nico, tennis pros who are attempting comebacks in the tennis world. This is a glorious slow burn, enemies-to-lovers sports romance that goes so much deeper, hitting on topics such as sexual harassment, slut shaming, childhood trauma, and secret drugging/medical misuse. The author was able to treat these topics with dignity and respect, while also infusing humor, charm, and romance into the narrative. I enjoyed the dual point of view style and the narrators were fantastic. I found myself wrapped up in Scottie and Nico's love story and lives and I didn't want the book to end!!!
**Thank you Meg Jones, NetGalley, and HaperAudio for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review**

4.5 stars
Though it is similar to Carrie Soto in that a tennis star returns to the game, that's pretty much the only similarity. This is a great enemies-to-lovers forced proximity sports romance that shows it is okay to change your opinion based on new information. This story got pretty deep in to having a father/coach who betrays you, struggling with your place in the world when the only place you have belonged has shunned you, injury and age taking you out of a sport you love, while also being very romantic and spicy. All around a good time.
The narrators of the audiobook were pretty great too and their voices and reactions felt perfect for the MCs.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC!

In the last few years I've come back around to sport type books. Tennis is not a sport I know all the rules to but I love me a good Tennis romance/ competition book.
Scottie has been training to be the best tennis player she can be and this is finally it she's there. Then she learns the truth behind what her father has been doing to get her there and her dreams are crushed and she walks away without a word of really happen.
Now after 2 years she attempting to come back solo and with a partner who has a lot of baggage. But between both of them opening up can they re-take the tennis world? Will the past ever be fully delt with?
Thank You NetGalley for this Audio Arc in exchange for my Honest Review.

If you’re looking for a fun enemies to lovers sports romance to start 2025 with, look no further!
Our story follows Scottie and Nico who are making their tennis comebacks after scandal and injury. They’re both ready to go and hungry for revenge.
Clean Point also deals with some very sensitive topics. The thoughtfulness Meg brought to these shines through.
Scottie and Nicos dynamic was so fun to read and I loved watching them grow together and as individuals. Their banter was a 👩🍳💋!
I think if this audio was a duet, it really would have taken it to the next level.
Thank you to netgalley, Harper audio and @megjoneswrites for this audio arc in exchange for an honest review.

Thank You Netgalley for the ALC. This is also available on KU. I am not a huge fan of romance, but it was good enough for a listen and recommendation. The story Follows Scottie Sinclair, which is such a fun name. The Audio was performed with accent and spelling of words in the book are Proper English. There is also a note of such for "American" readers 😊. I enjoyed the tennis aspect. And the romance was a slower burn. Yay for Scottie finding her courage and the revenge she needs to push on.
