This was so cute! I've never been a fan of tennis (outside of Wii Sports) but this pulled me in instantly with two fierce, stubborn characters who shared their love for the game and found a way to work through their differences for it, finding love quickly through that. They were quick-witted and protective of each other, with minor caretaking scenes and plenty of spicy scenes! The narrators did a great job, and I'd definitely read from this author again.

This was my first Meg Jones book and I know nothing about Tennis.
I enjoyed this story. It kept my interest throughout. It is done in dual narration. Scottie is British and I loved her accent.
Nico is older and a tennis player trying to come back from injury. Scottie had been suspended for two years after a controversial issue caused by her own father.
This story follows these two characters throughout their journey back to Wimbledon but as a doubles team.
This was a well thought out and plotted book. You’re getting a sports romance, age gap, slow burn, forced proximity, enemies to lovers. Mutual attraction but they won’t give in.
I would definitely recommend this book. It was a nice change from your usual sports romance.

Clean Point by Meg Jones really got me hooked right from the start. First of all, I have to give props to the author for including trigger warnings, which I really appreciated. It’s clear that the author cares about the reader’s comfort. And the dedication at the beginning? Hilarious — “Definitely Go sports!” had me laughing. Then there’s the UK English dictionary — such a thoughtful touch! I seriously love that the author wanted to make sure we were all on the same page, literally and figuratively.
Scottie Sinclair is such a relatable character. She's been playing tennis since she was 5, and you feel that dedication to the sport and her complex relationship with her dad, Mateo. And let’s talk about Mateo for a second — he’s *definitely* one of those characters you just can’t stand. The whole drugging-her-in-her-smoothie thing had me absolutely stunned. I mean, the guy was trying to live through his daughter’s career because of his own ego. What a mess. You’re constantly torn between being angry at him and feeling sorry for Scottie, who just wants to be her own person and not a pawn in her dad’s game.
But then comes Niko. Oh boy, the tension between them at first is electric. It’s that classic enemies-to-lovers vibe that *totally* pulled me in. Their snarky banter, the way they were constantly one-upping each other? I was living for it. Watching them go from rivals to something deeper was so rewarding. The slow-burn romance here is *chef’s kiss*. Niko’s protectiveness of Scottie, especially as things get more intense with her dad’s manipulations, is something I couldn’t get enough of. The moments of vulnerability between them? Heart-melting. Their chemistry was on fire, and honestly, I loved every second of their teasing.
The plot twists in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. The whole “is Mateo really sabotaging her career” drama had me biting my nails. And the way Scottie slowly started uncovering everything — and standing up for herself — was so satisfying. She wasn’t going to let her dad control her any longer. When she cut him off? YES, girl, take your power back!
And the spice... let’s just say, Niko and Scottie have *some serious chemistry*. From the playful moments to the more intimate ones, their connection just kept growing. The way they banter and then *bam*— their relationship shifts, it’s just the right mix of heat and emotion. When Niko confessed his feelings? I was *screaming*.
The epilogue was the cherry on top, leaving me with the biggest smile. They totally earned their happily ever after, and I’m here for it.
If you love an enemies-to-lovers story with all the tension, spice, and emotional depth, Clean Point is definitely a must-read. The drama, the romance, and the incredible character growth make this one a 5-star read for me. I couldn’t put it down, and I’m sure you won’t be able to either. Definitely check it out!

PUBLISHER: PLEASE FIX THE AUDIO LEVELS.
The male narrator whisper/mumbled about 30% of his lines which made them very hard to hear. (I had my volume all the way up and headphones in.) Then the narrator would pop up to a normal speaking level in the next sentence. It was so back and forth it ruined the experience a bit.
My Goodreads review:
This book is for the girlies who liked the movie “Challengers,”with only two people instead of three.
😮💨 The slow burn was worth it.
This book includes:
🎾 enemies/rivals to lovers
🎾 age gap (25-33)
🎾 slow burn
🎾 multiple (three-ish) open-door spice scene
🎾 “good girl”
🎾 music recs at the beginning of each chapter
🎾 dual POV
🎾 daddy issues
Check triggers! They are listed at the beginning of the book.
This was kinda everything I wanted from this book. While it has the essence of a romance books, the plots were pretty deep and a little twisted. (I mean WTF DAD!) The spice GAVE, but I could’ve used a little more.
My main complaints?
1. The audiobook wasn’t perfect. The male narrator whispered/mumbled about 30% of his lines before popping back to normal volume… my volume buttons saw a lot of action and my ear drums are busted.
2. I firmly believe contemporary romance books shouldn’t be more than 350-ish pages. This one is a longer book. With that said, it kept me entertained so it wasn’t too bad.

A new to me author, I found Jones writing style to be very readable. A solid sports romance between two tennis stars on a comeback- one from scandal and one from injury/aging. I enjoyed the overall story with great relationship development from friendship to romance. The chemistry was good and the spice was hot. I did feel like their story was missing emotional depth but was probably fitting for their characters and ages. (25 and 33) The commentary regarding sexism in sports felt well done. I loved that the FMC really took control of her own story, in her own way. Her father was terrible and I love that the FMC was not afraid to cut lies with his toxicity.
My uneven enjoyment may also have been influenced by the modes of reading I used. As a dual narration, Mary Jane Wells did well for the FMC - though her performance was over the top at times, but I had to really strain my ears to hear the male narrator who whispered his lines many times and yet yelled at times? Very inconsistent. I switched to the eyeballs on Hoopla app which is never a user friendly reading experience.

Tennis prodigy Scottie has been suspended for two years after her coach father doped her without her knowledge. She gets a chance at redemption when she partners for mixed doubles with her father’s nemesis, former champion Nico, who’s recovering from an injury. When attraction sparks between them, will a growing scandal derail their chance at a comeback?
I loved this book. It’s got high stakes, a strong plot, and a ton of romantic chemistry. The main characters are likable, believable, and well-developed. The story is engaging and fun to read.
The narration by Mary Jane Wells was divine as always. I had trouble with the sections by the male narrator because he whispered a lot, and if I turned up the volume so I could hear, then the louder parts were so loud they hurt my ears. I don’t know if that’s something an editor or producer can fix, but I haven’t encountered it in audiobooks before.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Baby’s first sports romance!! This was cute, there was a little bit of that overdone “rivals to lovers” at the start, but honestly, the overall plot was really solid.
Scotty and Nico both had dimension to their characters, and real skeletons in their closet that justified their inability to understand or open up to each other at first. Their motivations and flaws made it easy to root for both independently, and the together.
The plot itself, training for a big competition that meant something to each of them, was ramped up by tension as truths and histories were revealed; family drama, sports rivalries, and insecurities added to the intrigue of the story.
There was, of course, much of the overly masculine and borderline violently defensive mmc that now gets nothing more an eye roll from me. However, this story seemed to be aware of the fallbacks of suck a trope, and refreshingly called it out.
Finally, I have to give the narrators of this audiobook their flowers. Both were performers, not simply readers, and rent. was. due!! I had to laugh at how intense their voices got sometimes because I was just so impressed by their dedication to breaking voices, cracks of vulnerability and um,,, other things on the book.
It was very fun to listen to, definitely recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperAudio for this ARC. I listened to Clean Point and I really enjoyed it! 4 Stars!
The two main characters in this story are fire together. Whether they rage at each other from their first meeting to the heat they bring into the bedroom, it's all fire! The tension between Scottie and Nico is perfect. The way the characters develop throughout the book is great. You will root for these characters to win their tennis matches (even if you have no real concepts of the sport). It is a bit of a slow-burn romance in the best way!
I listened to this book and I can say that the sex scenes were the perfect amount without being "too much" that I had to fast forward. Also, I really enjoyed the male narrator's voice (Patrick Zeller).
Just because I'm focusing on the love aspect doesn't mean this book's plot is bad. The plotline and story are very intriguing. You'll want Scottie to get her revenge on her father and win everything!
Each chapter opens with a song title. I can't wait to check out these songs and add another layer to this novel.
Lastly, I really enjoyed the banter of these two characters and I'm so excited to see there will be a second book with a side character getting their love story.

I don’t speak tennis so I can’t really comment on that, but the evolution of the main characters and their relationship was good. The spice was well done, well timed, good tension and build up. My biggest dislike was when the male voice would voice the female dialogue during his chapters, it was awkward, especially with the accent. Solid read.
Thanks to Net Galley and HarperAudio for the audiobook!

I absolutely loved this book. The romance intertwined with the plot beautifully. I definitely want to read more from this author. If you’re a fan of sports romance this is a big recommendation from me!
The narrators were also great, the different accents were really well done.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperAudio for the ALC!

It's not often that I read a sports romance. When I get around to doing so, I am always wondering why I don't read more of it. "Clean Point" was pretty good. There was drama and romance but not too much. I did listen to the audiobook, so the sex scenes were a bit cringe. Despite this the voice actors were actually decent. I am happy that Jones provided great imagery when describing the tennis matches. This was an enjoyable read.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc!

I really enjoy Meg Jones and her writing, but I just could not get in to this one and did not end up finishing it completely. I didn't connect with the characters or the storyline, and it wasn't compelling enough of a story to keep me reading.

4 Stars
I truly enjoyed this sports romance, and the conversation around sexism, intrusive PR, and lack of bodily autonomy in sports! The romance itself was the perfect enemies-to-reluctant-partners-to-dubious-fake-dating-to-friends-to-lovers and once we got there, OH DID WE GET THERE. It’s a bit of an age gap (24/33 I think?) and honestly it truly works well. And the author starts each chapter with a song for the chapter, so I cannot wait to listen to the playlist later!
I also had the privilege of listening to the audiobook and the dual narrators did an amazing job with all the accents and emotions and I just truly got lost in their narration!

This was great and an original plot I have not read yet in a sports romance. Very refreshing. I really enjoyed her journey through the scandal and I’m glad her dad got what he deserved.
This was a slow burn- just how I like it. You don’t have to be a tennis fan to enjoy this one!

Not bad definitely made me crave challengers even though they're not the same at all. It's good and chapter 44 was great. But at times I felt myself wishing for a little more game play if that makes sense. Still good and worth the listen. Will recommend for any tennis readers out there. The relationship was sweet and compelling and the conflicts were so gripping with her father and Dylan. Hope to see a little more about it from Dylan in her book

A sweet and spicy romance with unexpected depths! The premise of an estranged daughter teaming up with her father’s rival to win the title was enough to make me quite eager to pick this one up and it did not disappoint. Niko and Scottie had great chemistry and there was a good balance personality wise. I was surprised by how strong of a plot there was - I was invested not only in the romance between Niko and Scottie but in what was going on around them! I am excited to see where this story goes. The mix of banter and fluff was top-notch and you could really feel the character’s relationship growing deeper as the plot unfolded.
I read this via audiobook. I was apprehensive because my past experiences reading contemporary romances via audio have not been so positive. Often, I find that the “relatable” humor, that I can tolerate via print, is unbearably cringeworthy when listening to them. I am pleased to say, however, that was not the case this time! I would really recommend the audiobook. The narrators are engaging and charming.
Thanks to HarperAudio and Netgalley for providing an ALC in exchange for an honest review!
Rating: 4 stars

Not my favorite read! I think the audiobook itself was bland and hard to listen to.
Thank you Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

What to expect:
- a disgraced tennis star who has to take a two-year ban after her father (a.k.a her coach) DRUGS her!
- a comeback and revenge plot that involves her father's old rival
- enemies to lovers
- age gap (he's older)
- a dash of spice (dick-tionary included 🤭)
- great narration!

I've read hockey and football romances, but I didn't think tennis romances were a thing. So when I saw this one, of course I jumped on it!
Scottie Rossi had her greatest moment in the sport. She won the women's single title at Wimbledon, but she's brought crashing down right after. She gets home from an after party to find her father and coach arguing, and her father attempting to drug her food. After an injury, apparently, he thought she needed an extra boost, and unbeknownst to her, had been dosing her with performance enhancing drugs for awhile. Scottie comes clean immediately, her title revoked and a two-year ban placed on her.
She has no intention of returning to tennis, or her overbearing father. Immediately following the break, she stopped going by Rossi, taking up her mother's last name of Sinclair. Scottie's been doing whatever she wants, where ever she wants. She's traveled, actually seeing the places she goes to instead of focusing on tournaments and training. She's taken home whoever caught her eye, and she's broken her strict dietary rules, savoring being able to eat whatever she wants simply because she feels like it.
The press have had a field day with her. After being labeled a cheat, an oh-so-clever tabloid journalist dubs her "Slutty Scottie". It's fine. She doesn't let it get to her. For once, she's living how she wants to, not following the rules of her overbearing father who viewed her as nothing more than a legacy.
When her old trainer approaches her with an idea, she's ready to turn him down. She's turned her back on tennis and doesn't need to go back. But when John offers her the opportunity to tie her comeback with that of Nico Kotas - himself coming back from a nearly career ending injury - her father's long-standing rival, Scottie decides this might just be the chance she needs. She has missed tennis, and being able to come back on her own standards, away from her father's name,
More than just getting back into tennis ready shape, Scottie has many hurdles to overcome. Her partner, Nico, is not a fan of her. He's heavily against doping and is doubtful that Scottie has really changed her ways, especially when she's been playing the role of party girl for the last two years. He's not the only player who's doubtful about her morals, and former competitors make it clear they're not looking forward to her return. The press is following her, wanting to be the first to tell the story of her comeback, and making theories about the true relationship with her upcoming mixed doubles partner. When a false positive test result comes back, Scottie's almost ready to give up. Too much is conspiring against her, is another chance at the title really worth it?
For fellow tennis fans out there, there were many aspects I felt were done right. Both watching, and with reading, not every point is edge of your seat worthy. I thought Meg did a good job of keeping a thrill to the games, picking the right moments to describe points and rallies, and knowing when to give a brief overview. The grueling regiment athletes go through to keep themselves at the top of the game, and the punishment they'll put their bodies through to get results. The unfortunate extreme coaching that can at times go on behind the scenes, and the effect an unfairly biased chair umpire can have on a match. The difference in questions asked to female and male players in the media. I did question some moments, especially why a team would spend months preparing for Wimbledon playing on hard courts instead of grass, since it's such a tricky surface... but the reward of seeing a sport I love turned fictional romance was worth it, and I thought the good points outweighed the "huh" moments.
But what about the spice? I'll admit, I'm still getting used to listening vs reading spice, and oh my. The spicy moments were definitely NSFW, maybe even not suitable for listening to without headphones! Even when I was alone at home.
Altogether, this was a highly enjoyable listen, I thought both narrators did an excellent job at keeping the story moving, keeping things entertaining and drawing you in with the palpable emotions they conveyed. I'll be sure to try out other titles by this author, and I hope there are more stories like this to come!

This was okay, but I felt like there were some plotlines that could have either been removed or fleshed out a little more.
The narrator did an excellent job.
