As a person who has been obsessed with tennis her entire life, I had scoured the internet for a tennis romance book. So, I would like to personally thank Meg for feeding us this masterpiece of a book. I read this a few months ago adn when I saw the audiobook was out, I just had to apply for the ALC!
The story follows Scottie Sinclair, who recently discovered she was betrayed by her coach—her own father, a former professional tennis player. He had unknowingly given Scottie performance-enhancing drugs, and being betrayed by a parent is a unique kind of pain—like a knife to the heart. When the news broke and Scottie's name was dragged through the mud, she spiraled, becoming the ultimate party girl, losing herself in the European club scene. But two years later, she’s given a shot at redemption. To make her comeback, she needs the right doubles partner—enter Nico Kotas, her father’s former rival. Nico dominated the tennis world for nearly a decade before a knee injury took him out. Now, both Scottie and Nico need each other to return to the game they love.
I’m obsessed with enemies-to-lovers stories, and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve found one that hit the mark like this. Scottie was conditioned to despise Nico because of her father’s rivalry with him—but the heart wants what it wants. Their initial tension, compounded by brand endorsement photoshoots that fueled dating rumors, escalates into delicious banter, secret pining, and undeniable yearning. I AM OBSESSED!
I also loved the author’s writing style. This was an engaging, fast-paced, and fun read, and the little article clippings between chapters added a unique touch. The book sensitively addresses the issue of parental abuse, showing the complexity of Scottie’s experience being drugged by her father.
Meg Jones has quickly become one of my go-to authors. Whatever she writes, I’ll read—and most likely love. I am soooo excited for Oliver and Dylan's book!!! Highly recommend this to everyone!
This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a slow-burning romance with a healthy dose of humor, emotional depth, and a thrilling sports backdrop, particularly those who enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope and are looking for a story that serves up a satisfying blend of competition, passion, and personal growth.
This was my first read by Meg Jones and I loved it! I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrators, Mary Jane Wells; Patrick Zeller, they did a fantastic job at bringing Scottie and Nico to life!
Don’t let this cute cover fool you, this book definitely has so much emotional baggage and some hot spice!
Thank you so much to Meg Jones and HarperAudio for the ALC!
I really enjoyed this book! There are very few stories centered around tennis. The banter here was fun and I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. The situation with her father was glanced over a little at the end but it didn’t take away from the book.
I also really enjoyed the narrators voice for the MMC.
Overall this was a fun romance audio book!
I’ve been dying for another tennis book since loving Carrie Soto is Back. I felt that the premise of Scottie and Nico playing doubles together was a little odd but obviously necessary for the plot. I liked their connection and how the book addressed their personal traumas from being professional athletes. I felt like some parts of the book dragged on and there was not enough tennis for me. I felt like the beginning was just a little too much build up. I appreciated all the news and fun extra stuff included in between some chapters. I liked the narrators and the dual narrators I just wish the volume was a little more consistent as I had to change my volume a few times. Overall, I enjoyed the book and how everything resolved with the drama.
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me an audiobook ARC of this book.
This audiobook was such a good listen. I really enjoyed both narrators. I initially took the ARC because I've never read a tennis romance and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
High quality tension + banter mixed with a high quality storyline will thrill me every. single. time. Admittedly, I know very little about tennis outside of playing Wii Sports as a kid, but I was *invested* in this story!
Also I was able to listen to the audio version, and wow, I loved the narrators!
Thank you to NetGalley + the author for my advance copy!
First I would like to thank NetGalley for this audio arc!
The story was great! I loved the different plots and rivalries going on throughout the book. I loved watching to slow progression from rivals to lovers!
The one thing I will say is it was a little drawn out in parts, but overall I enjoyed this book.
As for the narration, I really liked the female narrator. She did a great job at changing the emotion in her voice so you can tell when she was making a joke or something. She had a very pleasant voice. I struggle with the male narrator though. He has a very nice voice! Don’t get me wrong, but I struggled listening to him with headphones because of how deep his voice is. I know that sounds silly, but I would have to turn the volume all the way up for his chapters. Also, his British accent wasn’t that great when he was reading Stevie’s lines. But, honestly, that’s not on the narrator at all.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book to people looking for a vindicating story against an enemy and a good rivals to lovers plot!!
Thoroughly enjoyable! I have followed the author on social media for a few years and had a sense of their humor, and I was very curious about this book.
First off, LOVE Mary Jane Wells and Patrick Zeller’s narration. MJW in particular does such an amazing job bringing the story to life.
Also loved to see a fresh sports romance focused on tennis. In Clean Point, the sport really shines through. I loved all the moments of quiet shared intimacy and vulnerability between Scottie and Niko as they worked through the challenges of becoming mixed doubles teammates. That strong buildup of emotional connection between MCs added a great layer of tension that carried over into the second phase of the book - the competition. Will they, won’t they succumb to their attraction? Will Scottie get the revenge she’s seeking? How will the intensity of the press coverage impact them? Scottie is a great FMC. She’s dealing with a lifetime of tennis training from her self serving and manipulative tennis pro father, working to rebuild her career on her own terms, seeking her own happiness for once, and rebuilding a relationship with her mother. Niko? Oh man he was a GONER for Scottie. I love a MMC that’s steadfast in standing by his lady during the tough times in order to lift her up. He’s grumpy, sure. But he’s also trying to make his own tennis comeback as an older player whose body isn’t what it used to be. Jones takes their time to really build up a believable relationship between Scottie and Niko and ensures that they stay a United front through the main plot conflicts towards the end of the story.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and HarperAudio for the audiobook.
Reeling from a cheating scandal, star tennis player Scottie Sinclair spends the next two years partying across Europe and getting as far away as possible from the tennis world and her despicable father. With her doping ban nearing an end, she gets an unexpected offer: pair up with dear old dad’s biggest rival for the Wimbledon mixed doubles tournament for the ultimate revenge and career comeback.
Nico’s been sidelined by injury and is one step away from being out of tennis. He needs some media attention and some wins to become relevant again. But he has no interest in teaming up with a spoiled cheater like Scottie.
Loved it! I’m a huge tennis fan and sports romance fan, so this was a perfect combo for me! But even if you’re not a tennis fan, it’s such a fun roller coaster of a ride—love, revenge, competitive spirit, personality—you’ll find it all. Scottie has been suffering big time for two years and had an interesting (and sometimes frustrating) way of handling her father’s betrayal. Nico helps bring her out of it, and steps in as such an ally and protective force when he sees how people treat her. This book had so many beautiful moments and it was so worth it to see these enemies become the best of friends and lovers!
The dual point of view really brought the story and characters together, and the narrators really brought the characters and emotions to life.
This was my first time reading sports romance and I didn’t really have high hopes, now I’m eager to read more. I absolutely love the characters, especially Scottie and the way the author really conveys her voice in the writing. I thought the pacing was perfect and was very satisfied by how everything ended.
This was well-written, fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat with the competition. If you’re a tennis fan this one is for you. Romance with a forced proximity trope as two tennis players currently not in the game get matched up to train for Wimbledon as doubles partners.
The author takes the time to point out some topics she covers that may be difficult for some readers- but I didn’t find anything particularly hard to read or offensive. She also specifies which chapters have some spice- and she’s not wrong. It’s by no means the whole of the book, but she definitely includes some spicy scenes.
I really enjoyed the audio narration. The novel has dual narration and the audio provided a male narrator and a female narrator which I love. They did a great job with the male American accent and female British accent. I thought they each portrayed their characters well and it made the novel so captivating and easy to follow along.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
I so enjoyed this audiobook edition of Clean Point by Meg Jones! The narrators felt authentic and were perfect for the roles. I would recommend for fans of Carrie Soto and Challengers, but also like Tessa Bailey-style sports romance/smut.
Added bonus: the suggested playlist to go along with the chapters was full of bangers like Maisie Peters and Wolf Alice.
I found myself really rooting for and wanting #JusticeForScottie. The gaslighting of her situation and as a female athlete in general was infuriating!
The open door scenes felt additive to the plot and narrative of Scottie and Nico’s relationship which was a plus. I’m definitely looking forward to more from Meg.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperAudio for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I was lucky enough to get the ALC and I loved the narrators. I do wish it was done as a duet but it was still good.
The story itself is great, it has the drama and the romance.
Loved getting to learn a little more about tennis.
Overall it’s a good story, quick to get into and even though it’s pretty long it’s fast paced.
A solid sports romance, scratching the itch I didn't realize I had after watching Challengers. Scottie and Nico are both strongly drawn with nuanced personal issues, and the enemies to lovers arc on top of it all makes their professional partnership very interesting to follow. My favorite aspect here is how tennis is so thoroughly incorporated into the story and plot; too many sports romances barely feature gameplay if any at all, and this one definitely isn't lacking in that department, giving me the impression that Jones either is a fellow fan of tennis or did a good job of educating herself about it through research. The book felt a little too long, but otherwise I found it entertaining and fun. Both narrators do a nice job bringing these characters to life, although Patrick Zeller's voice got much quieter when he wasn't delivering dialogue, which made me need to adjust the volume often to hear properly. Duet narration would have been wonderful, especially since there are multiple accents at play.
3.75 stars. I thought the storyline for this book was super unique and I'm always a sucker for a teammates to lovers romance. Scottie Sinclair is a pariah in the tennis world, and believed to be a cheater after her unknown drugging by her father resulted in her Wimbledon title being taken from her and at the end of a 2 year suspension from the sport. Nico Kotas was once a top star in men's tennis. But with frequent injuries, he's in his mid-thirties reaching the end of his career with a Wimbledon title being the only prize he hasn't won. Nico's rise in tennis years ago marked the beginning of the end of Scottie's fathers career, which is why Nico and Scottie's mutual friend and former coach thinks they'd make perfect doubles partners to get back at Scottie's father and help them both advance individually.
There's so much snarky banter in the beginning since Nico along with the rest of the world doesn't know the truth about Scottie and her father. So getting to see his evolving feelings for Scottie before and then after he learns the truth was one of my favorite parts of the book. I loved the ending of the story where we see the fallout of their respective attempts in their singles competitions and how they have to come together for one last chance in victory in the mixed doubles.
This probably would be a 4 star if eyeball reading the book, but I had some struggles with the audiobook at points. The sound at times was super inconsistent where in a chapter the verbal dialogue would be super quiet but the characters narration/inner dialog would be at a normal volume. I found myself going back and forth with the volume trying to get it set at a decent level. I've listened to books narrated by Mary Jane Wells before and enjoy her, but this was the first one where when speaking the male lines she also had to do an american accent. It wasn't too much of an issue until it got to the sex scenes and the monotone flat delivery sounded more like a command for a pet more than a lover.
I enjoyed this book and will recommend it to people it will probably be with the disclaimer to read it rather than listen to it. Thank you HarperAudio and NetGalley for an ALC of Clean Point!
Scottie has gone through a lot in her tennis career. From failing a drug test to firing her coach, just to start all over again. Nico is fresh off a knee replacement surgery and ready to get back in the game. Will the two of them be able to set aside their differences to make their dreams of winning at Wimbledon come true?
I thought this book was very well written and formatted for even those who know nothing about tennis, like myself.
This was pretty cute, but wasn't totally for me. I love sports romance, especially when the FMC is also an athlete. But I think I was expecting her to be feisty and sassy and aggressive - think Carrie Soto or Sal from Kulti. That expectation hurt my enjoyment because Scottie was fine here, but not like that. And so I found her and Nico to be kind of boring. This was also not an enemies-to-lovers storyline, but some of their interactions were still amusing. I think I enjoyed the beginning and the end of the book, but the middle was a bit of a slog to get through.
Also, maybe this feedback isn't necessary but I felt like quite a few character actions were made for the sake of a plot point or punchline and didn't actually make sense. Like how in one chapter Scottie is having a very public threesome and then in the next she's uber embarrassed for accidentally grazing someone's crotch. Also, her rationale for why she handled the secret doping the way she did makes no sense. And Nico being Scottie's father's competitive enemy is a bit of a stretch when considering the various ages.
As for the narrators, they were also okay. They did a decent job with the different genders and accents. The female narrator was neutral for the material - she didn't detract nor add any value to the story. I didn't like the male narrator. He had some weird whispering tendencies and also sounded like a mustachioed man from the 80s.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC.
Sport romance novels aren’t usually my top choice of romance novels, however, I had a good time reading this book. Maybe it was the nostalgia of spending a few summers playing tennis, but I really enjoyed the mix of romance and tennis content. This book does deal with some HEAVY topics, but I think Meg Jones overall dealt with the topics with care. I also appreciated her content warnings at the top of the book.
Romance tropes:
-Enemies to lovers
-Sports romance
-Forced proximity
-Slow burn (almost too slow at some points)
-Age gap
-Family drama/trauma
Content warnings:
-disordered eating
-parental betrayal/abuse
-substance abuse
Thank you to HarperAudio and Netgalley for the audio ARC in exchange for a honest review
Clean Point by Meg Jones
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.75 stars
Ok, this book is CUTE cute!! I love a sports romance, and I loveeee a tennis trope even more 🎾 This is easily my favorite romance I’ve read in awhile. The tension, the angst, the banter … chef’s kiss 🤌🏼 All wrapped up with a cutesy little bow.
My 0.25 off is based solely on the audiobook narration. The female narrator was fantastic, but I had a some trouble with the male narration. His inner monologue and dialogue were at two different volume levels, and I was constantly toggling the volume trying to hear what was being said. Whenever he was speaking to another character, I could hear him clearly, but whenever he was just reading text it sounded like a whisper. That is my single and only complaint with this book, and it’s only with the audiobook. The book alone holds a solid five stars for me.
The pacing was strong and consistent. I never got bored and was always excited to get back into it. Both main characters are dynamic and interesting to learn about. I loved the playlist that went with every chapter. The songs were always spot on (and full of T-swift)!
There was quite a lot of spice in this, but I wasn’t overwhelmed by it.
The writing was funny and witty. There was a strong supporting cast, and I’m super stoked to read about them again in the next 3 books in this interconnected standalone series.
Clean Point was a great start to my 2025. I would highly recommend it to any rom-com lover, and I will definitely be looking into some of Meg Jones’s other novels and reading the others in this series when they come out.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the audiobook ARC!
