Wow! I really did not expect to love this as much as I did!

I loved Scottie and Nico. I was so pleased that secrets and miscommunication didnโ€™t overshadow this story. There was a lot of open and honest communication which is sometimes hard to find in romance books. Love, love, love that there was no third act break up!!! The support Scottie and Nico showed towards each other was so refreshing.

I know nothing about tennis, but this book shone light on so many important topics, including pressure that female athletes feel and the way they are portrayed in the media. There was also good discussion about the hidden abuse that occurs towards players at the hands of their coaches.

The audio narration was excellent! Mary Jane Wells and Patrick Zeller, really brought the story to life.

The emotional depth that this book went into was so unexpected, but oh so good! I would highly recommend this book, especially the audio version for an extra touch of magic.

This may be my new favorite sports romance book! I loved the enemies to lovers vibes of the relationship between Scottie and Nico! The banter between them was great and the spice was spicer than I expected!

The dual POVs for Nico and Scottie was great and I loved that their POVs overlapped several times so you could really get the full story of events happening.

What I really loved about this book was that the tennis world was the real focus of this book. There was lots of discussion about game play and the pressure that female athletes feel. There was also a really good discussion about the hidden abuse that occurs to players sometimes at the hands of their coaches. This book felt a lot like Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reed expect with more romance.

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrators performances.

First off, thank you to HarperAudio and NetGalley for the ALC! Now the good stuff right?!

Clean Point is the first tennis romance Iโ€™ve ever read and yeahโ€ฆ I get it now. Scottie had the whole tennis world at her fingertips when itโ€™s all brought down by scandal. Nico had it all until he got injured. Both trying to get back into the game. Scottie and Nico are thrust into a partnership that neither wants but they need. Like if the one bed trope was a contractual agreement instead of said bed. Heโ€™s her fatherโ€™s enemy and I guess in the end, the enemy of my enemy is really my friend right?! You get watch the slow burn between these two which is just freakin delicious. But most importantly, you get to read how they heal each other. How Nico shows Scottie that people can be trusted. Scottieโ€™s trauma in this book was both heartbreaking and infuriating. The way sheโ€™s treated in comparison to her male counterpart was too realistic in todayโ€™s world. This book was beautifully written and definitely a good listen!

Mary Jane Wells, her voice is smooth as butter and the emotions come thru so strong. Patrick Zeller, amazing! Both narrators did an amazing job showing all of the emotions their characters were going thru. They absolutely sucked you in and delivered an amazing audio experience!

Not a sports fan but I loved this! There is a movie about ice skaters called The Cutting Edge from the 90โ€™s that I LOVED and this totally had those vibes. Scottie is a disgraced tennis player (because of her father giving her performance enhancing drugs without her consent), who pairs up (to piss her dad off), with Nico an older tennis player who was her fatherโ€™s rival.

The narrators were perfection. The chemistry between the characters was hot. I loved that there was some depth to the story and that Scottie and Nicoโ€™s chemistry wasnโ€™t just from hotness and lust. They developed respect for each other and had real friendship. I donโ€™t know anything about the tennis world but the author did a great job of pulling me into it.

Iโ€™ll definitely be on the lookout for other books by Meg Jones!

Tennis romances should be the new sports romance go to! I really got into this story and couldnโ€™t stop listening and finished it in a day.
The story was very gripping from the beginning and stayed good and fun.
It was romantic and spicy, but also caring and grounded for what it was. Iโ€™m excited to discover there are going to be more in the series and will eagerly be awaiting them!
Also, the two narrators were incredible. They did so well switching with their main characters, but also the abilities to switch dialects/accents/etc. was impeccable.

This book was wonderful. Iโ€™ve never read a tennis romance, but I generally love sports romances and adore enemies-to-lovers, so I thought Iโ€™d give it a chance. I am so glad I did. A solid 4-star read. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

First of all I loved the audio! The duel point narrating was on point. I enjoyed the female narrator a lot!

First time reading/listening to a tennis centered book and Iโ€™m obsessed. I am such a sports romance girly but I need more tennis. The main characters Scottie and Nico were spot on and their chemistry was great!

Audio format

This book is described as: a spicy enemies-to-lovers romance about a disgraced tennis player who partners with her fatherโ€™s rival for a chance at redemptionโ€”perfect for fans of Carrie Soto Is Back and Icebreaker. More on this later.....

As I love a good sports romance (and a tennis one at that) I was happy to receive a copy of this one to listen to. The story follows tennis prodigy Scottie Sinclair who wins the Wimbledon tennis title only to be banned from tennis for use of an illegal substance which was unknowingly given to her by her father and coach. Scottie decides to make a comeback after her ban and pairs up with her father's former tennis nemesis Nico Kotas. I don't know if it's a coincidence but the main male character gave off Nick Kyrgios vibes (also a Greek pro tennis player). Of course romance ensues as they make their comeback and attempt to win the Wimbledon mixed doubles tennis title.

Overall it was a decent book but definitely didn't give me Carrie Soto vibes as promised.. It did deliver on the spice factor but that didn't develop until about the half way part of the book (which I was fine with but actually the book was completely fine without it IMO). I did feel the book lacked and was a little weak in the tennis content for me but did deliver on the chemistry between the two main characters.

The audio narration was excellent! In fact so excellent it left me blushing during some of the spicy scenes as the acting/narration was pretty intense. Lastly this book was about 100 page too long for me and was a bit draggy. It did pick up towards the end but I think the book would have been stronger if it was shorter.

I give this book an above average rating of 3.5/5. I bumped up the rating by 1 whole point for the narration; without that I would have given it an average rating of 2.5/5 as it just fell a little flat for me.

Loved the chapter song titles and Stevie referencesโ€”such a fun, unique, and enjoyable read (or listen)!

Overall this was a fun read. I enjoyed the build up plot wise and how it all developed. I don't know I like a comeback story especially when it's a woman one uponing her successful dad that fucked her over.

It was a tiny bit long, the narration was great. Just a great sport romance over all.

I got an alc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4 Stars! ๐ŸŽพโœจ Huge thanks to HarperAudio and NetGalley for the ALC! ๐Ÿ’– Clean Point by Meg Jones is dropping on December 31, 2024, and trust meโ€”you do NOT want to miss this spicy, enemies-to-lovers sports romance! With a solid 11-hour and 34-minute runtime, I was completely hooked! ๐Ÿ“š

โœจ Tropes Galore! โœจ
โœง Enemies-to-lovers ๐Ÿ’˜
โœง Sports romance ๐ŸŽพ
โœง Forced proximity ๐Ÿ’—
โœง Slow burn ๐Ÿ’“
โœง Second chances ๐Ÿ’ซ
โœง Hidden trauma ๐Ÿ’”
โœง Age gap (sort of!) ๐Ÿ’•
โœง Healing through love ๐Ÿ’–

Okay, okayโ€”Clean Point hit ALL the right notes! ๐Ÿ˜ This wasnโ€™t just your average tennis romance; it was a feels rollercoaster! The drama, the character growth, the chemistry between Scottie and Nicoโ€”UGH, they were EVERYTHING. Their hate-to-love journey had me hooked from the start, and donโ€™t even get me started on the slow burn that turned into a connection so undeniable, I was living for it! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Not gonna lie, I was kinda craving more tennis actionโ€”sweaty matches, tournaments, the full sports experienceโ€”but honestly, the emotional depth of the story made up for it. The banter? So good. The secret pining? Chefโ€™s kiss. And the forced proximity made everything feel so much more personal and intense. I was even lowkey wishing for a third-act breakup for the drama, but nope! Thank goodness we were spared that cliche! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ

Scottieโ€™s trauma? Handled with such care. ๐Ÿฅบ The way she and Nico helped each other heal was so emotional, and I just loved seeing them grow together. Nico? Total softie under all that tough-guy exterior. And Jon? Seriously, he stole my heart. ๐Ÿ’ž Canโ€™t wait to see more of Oliver (and Dylanโ€”their story is coming, right?!).

The narrators, Mary Jane Wells and Patrick Zeller, really brought the story to life. Mary Jane's voice perfectly captured Scottieโ€™s emotional depth, and Patrickโ€™s delivery of Nicoโ€™s internal struggles was spot-on. The way they switched between the characters added so much richness to the experience. Highly recommend the audiobook for that extra touch of magic. โœจ

So yeah, if youโ€™re a sucker for enemies-to-lovers and sports romances with all the heart and heat, Clean Point is your next go-to. Iโ€™m already counting down the days until the next one in the series! ๐Ÿ™Œ

- Emotional trauma

Thanks to NetGalley and HarperAudio for the advancer audio book.

This was a fun and spicy romance set in the world of professional tennis. Scottie Sinclair comes out as a cheater, after winning Wimbledon, and spends the next two years blowing up her image. It isn't until her former coach comes to her with a proposition to both help her make a comeback and get revenge on her father (her former manager): partner up with Nico Kotas, the bad boy of tennis, who's also trying to make a comeback after a knee injury. Getting a peek behind the curtain was fun and provided some good reminders about the issues around power imbalances and gender dynamics in the tennis world. A fun listen!

Clean Point will be out December 31, 2024

I really liked this one. I liked the main character, found them very cute and sweet with each other, and wanted to keep listening to their relationship unfold. It was a slow burn, which I don't always like, but it didn't bother me in this book. It was more realistic of a relationship and the characters really were a good match. I don't know much about tennis but liked that aspect of the story as well. Both main characters are looking for redemption in the sport and support each other to become better athletes. While I liked the ending, I would have liked to see it go just a little further...

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Audio for the audiobook for review.

This is an excellent romcom. I know nothing about tennis but the story really drew me in. I am a huge fan of Mary Jane Wells so she is what brought me to the audiobook but the storyline was amazing and the love hate relationship between Scottie and Nico was ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I love that this is no helpless FMC, she can take care of herself but Nico understands that and doesnโ€™t try and control her, unless she asks him to ๐Ÿ˜‰. Donโ€™t miss out on this story!!

I am forever a sucker for a tennis story. I loved the underlying story in this - as well as the nods to all things tennis.

This was better than I anticipated! I don't know that I had any real expectations going in, but I was pleasantly surprised at it not being a women in sports fluff piece. I'm the first to admit that I'm the worst for judging a book by its cover, and as much as I love a lighthearted sports romance, I love that this wasn't that. It actually tackled a lot of very real issues women in sports are facing and the grueling pressure professional athletes put their bodies through. It also tackled difficult topics like abuse, doping, and coping with injury in professional sports in a way that felt realistic.

The growth of our two main characters was very well crafted. They were each working through a trauma whether physical or mental, directly related to their shared sport and came together to overcome their challenges no matter how reluctantly in the beginning.

I was taken by surprise by the spice - I don't know why the cover made me think it would be closed door, but I was pleasantly surprised when the MMC had a filthy mouth on him!

I listened to the audiobook, and Mary Jane Wells and Patrick Zeller did a great job. Wells' performance stood out to me as she was able to quickly navigate back and forth between accents effortlessly bringing the story to life.

Thank you to NetGalley, Meg Jones and Harper Audio for the advanced copy audiobook.

Wow I was truly so impressed with this book. The narrators did fantastic and kept me immersed in the story the entire time. They truly brought the characters to life with their voices. The song titles at the beginning of every chapter was honestly the cherry on top of an already amazing book. It was so fun to get an almost sneak peak of what the chapter would be about based on the song the author chose. Iโ€™ve never seen that done before (Iโ€™ve seen playlists authors put out, but nothing actually within the book itself) and it definitely elevated the experience for me. We will definitely be purchasing this for our library for patrons to enjoy.

Super interesting set-up here with tennis player Scottie being banned from the sport after confirmed use of performance enhancing drugs. Her father/coach/mentor was the one who drugged her without her consent, and when she finds out, she turns herself in and quits tennis altogether. Two years later, a former coach wants her back in the game and paired with her fatherโ€™s former rival, Nico. He has his own issues with a slow recovery after knee surgery and it seems like playing as mixed doubles partners with shake things up. We start with being misunderstood arrogant enemies and slowly work up towards friendship, partnership, and more. Itโ€™s steamy and emotional all in one, especially as Scottie opens up about what happened with her father. Loved it. Would definitely read more from this author.
