While the initial idea of this book was kind of new and interesting, it was one that I just couldn't connect with.
The smut starts way too quickly (like almost immediately) and is kind of like getting punched in the face rather than falling for the characters and rooting for their relationship.
The audience is told, rather than shown, the innermost secrets of the main characters and there felt like there was little to no needed discovery for the audience - we didn't get to play with all the pieces and toy around with the idea of getting to know the main characters because it was spelled out to you like someone spilling their guts: A sudden, heavy, messy, plop of slop.
Maybe it's for those times of desperate loneliness, but I don't think it would go over with most average readers.
Again, not for me, but maybe for someone else.
Side note: the narrators for the audiobook are fantastic - it's the content that needs work.

This had a perfect balance of spice and intriguing storyline. I liked the raw emotions Lucy showed and how she was trying to overcome them. Gideon was a little too good to be true, but I'll take it. IThis was a quick read that kept me interested and wanting to move on to the next book in the series. Although I hope the ex gets what's coming to him soon.

If you’re a fan of Katee Robert, Make Me Want is the perfect quick and steamy read. This story follows a high-powered attorney who’s ready to settle down and get married—but she doesn’t have time to search for a husband herself. Enter her friend, a headhunter, who she hires to find her the perfect match. But as the search unfolds, sparks fly between them, and they realize the person they really want has been right in front of them all along.
The story is predictable in the best way, delivering all the steam and chemistry you’d expect from a Katee Robert romance. It’s a fun, light, and satisfying read that hits all the right notes for fans of contemporary romance. If you’re looking for a quick escape with all the heat and heart you love, Make Me Want won’t disappoint!

I usually enjoy Katee Robert's books, but this one wasn't my favorite. I'm not sure if it was the narrator or the story, but it didn't grab me as a reader. I'm usually the person who will marathon a series, but this one isn't for me. I'm looking forward to other books by this author and will still generally recommend her books.

Super hot and spicy!
I think this is my first time starting a series by Katee Robert (I usually go in and read a random interconnected stand alone) So starting this series makes me excited for what is next.
Lots of her classic writing plots and styles of writing made it in here. They find ways to make the story very inclusive, enough dark and intensity, but all while feeling safe!

Robert has always been a thrilling storyteller. From the fire of temptation to the ice of heartache, she puts emotions completely on the line. Make Me Want is no exception. There's a darkness at the heart of sultry Love story that spins out of control. Gideon and Lucy are an ever evolving dance with destiny. Elmy breathes life into a romance unlike any other.
The fantasy comes to life. Katee Robert has a knack for allowing readers to live vicariously through her imagination. Whether naughty, dangerous or heartbreaking, her characters call to the little voice inside yearning to escape. Make Me Want is a passionate tango of lust, love and liberation. One woman's quest to unlock her inner vixen, brings her heart's desire. HOT!

A woman is seeking for a husband because she wants to be considered for a promotion. And before she finds said husband, she wants bedroom lessons because it has been too long and she was only ever with one guy. All smut, and the little plot that this contains makes no sense. If you are looking for not-so-spicy spice, go for it, but I'm still looking for the story...
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When I saw Katee had a new series coming, I had to be the firs to read it!!!! Now, I will say. this was not my favorite. However, I think this was supposed to be exactly what it was... unserious, a little cringe, but definitely unputdownable! Would I say this is a literary masterpiece? Absolutely not. But it did keep me entertained and even though I knew how it was to end, i had to finish it to find out.

Make me want
Lucy is recovering from divorce with her ex. She is working to regain self confidence, but is nervous to throw herself in the dating game. She gets with a friend to help her find a new boyfriend, and to give her other lessons as well…. In the bedroom.
Gideon is hesitant, but agrees and is surprised by their chemistry. It reminds him of when they first met and he wanted her, but his friend got her first. This is the first in a series, and I would definitely read more.
In this quick romance, it was right to the point. Plot was okay, characters were okay, spicy scenes were excellent ! Narration was great!
It must be being republished in audio. Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review. Release on 1/14/25.

This was a short and okay listen. But it would've benefited from a dual narration. The male voice the narrator used was not good. It made it hard to focus. I also wish there was more substance to the story.

A decent and short friends to lovers story. I wish there was more meat to the story overall, maybe being a little longer would have allowed for that. I really liked Gideon's character being almost grumpy sunshine ish. I feel like I might have enjoyed the audiobook more if it was narrated by 2 different people.

I was so excited about this audiobook because I have really enjoyed the O’Malley series by Katee Roberts. This however was way below that in terms of writing and quality. In a book like this that’s so heavy with intimacy I feel like you need a male and female narrator to make it sound good. This narrator did not have a good male voice which made it very hard to get into. The narrators voice was very perky which I didn’t feel matched a lot of the book especially the males role.

This book is really good, almost done and i feel confident to give my opinion. The plot and the story is great, i love the banter. The narrator is good as the woman, but not as the man. I wish there was a male narrator for the guy. The female character did act a little juvenile being she is a woman and she was searching for a husband, but yet when it came to sex she acts like she is completely inexperienced versus traumatized by her last boyfriend. Other than that the book is very addictive.

If you’re looking for a quick, spicy, and sweet listen, Make Me Want by Katee Robert might be a good choice for your next pick! This audiobook delivers on the heat, with plenty of chemistry between the characters to keep you hooked.
Lucy Baudin, a lawyer aiming to make partner, enlists her friend and headhunter, Gideon Novak, for an unconventional task - finding her a husband. But as sparks fly between them, their professional arrangement becomes deliciously complicated. Gideon and Lucy’s chemistry is undeniable, making their steamy moments as satisfying as their sweeter ones.
The narration was enjoyable, though I would have loved a dual narration to better capture both perspectives. While the matchmaking headhunter concept felt a bit cheesy and far-fetched at times, it didn’t take away from the story’s charm or the emotional connection between the leads.
Overall, this audiobook is a light, entertaining listen perfect for fans of contemporary romance who enjoy a mix of spice and sweetness.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for this ALC in exchange for my honest review!

This is definitely a book from Katee's early days as an Indie Author. This was short, sexy and easy listen that can easily be done in one sitting. Overall, I enjoyed this, but I wish Gideon and Lily talked to each other more and didn't rely on their pre conceived notions of each other and how they might be feeling. But then the book would be a lot shorter.
I enjoyed this overall and am glad to try out some of Katee's backlist.
Thank Netgalley for the ALC

Holy spice, Batman! This was my first Katee Robert book, and it definitely won’t be my last. The spice is well-written, engaging, and keeps things interesting from start to finish. My only gripe was the ending. It wraps up a key plot point but felt a bit disingenuous compared to the rest of the book's tone.
That aside, I absolutely loved the characters and their rich backstories. They brought so much life and energy to the story, making it a fun and immersive read. The plot drops you right into the action, which I enjoyed, though I did momentarily wonder if it was a sequel. (It’s not!) It’s a second-chance romance, one of my favorite tropes, and the chemistry was palpable.
Lucy’s experiences reflected the aftermath many women face with overly critical partners in the bedroom, portrayed with accuracy and sensitivity. Meanwhile, Gideon shines as a supportive partner in the bedroom but struggles a bit with emotional vulnerability outside of it, adding depth to his character.
The storyline holds your attention, and the narrator does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. Definitely recommend!

This was pretty good, but not my favorite. It felt a little like I was missing something at the beginning because ~3 minutes in, Lucy was asking Gideon to be her sex practice partner with virtually no background into who they were. I did like Gideon’s long-time pining for Lucy, but even with that he still doubted his feelings for her. And Lucy doubted her feelings even more than Gideon, although her past relationship trauma most explained that.
The spice was good - there were quite a few scenes packed in for being a relatively short book.
Audiobook narration by Alexa Elmy was good for Lucy, but not very good for Gideon. Her male voices sounded overly nasally.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the audio ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was a fun forbidden romance that was fun to read. I will read anything by Katee Robert, it never disappoints.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Good story, new spin on marriage of convenience. The narrator was great.

Quick Summary: A FWB, second shot at more
My Review: Make Me Want by Katee Robert was originally released in 2018. An audiobook edition from Harlequin Audio is being released in January 2025.
About the Book: "She’s taking control. And it’s driving him wild!"
In My Own Words: Two friends with a passing attraction of old enter into a friends with benefits situationship. Although the deal is to keep things platonic while working together on a special project of sorts, pretty soon strong feelings become to difficult to hide.
About the Characters:
"Lucy Baudin’s ex did a number on her self-esteem, but it’s time for her to regain control...she needs inspiration to reawaken her inner seductress. Asking her friend Gideon Novak for help seems wrong…yet so deliciously right!"
"Headhunter Gideon Novak is shocked when Lucy hires him…to hunt her future husband!...the more time they spend together, the more Gideon wants to be there for Lucy—not just for hire but full-time, forever."
About the Narration: This novel was narrated by Alexa Elmy. The tonal expressions between the male and female characters were notably different. I jived well with the lower register, yet I had difficulty with the higher register vocals. I had to experiment with the speed to find a just right level.
Unfortunately, I must note that I could hear the sound of swallows in numerous places; I didn't care for that. Overall, however, I liked the audiobook experience, once I found what worked for my listening ear.
My Final Say: Lucy and Gideon's story was a mix between simple and complex. The journey to their HEA was filled with exploration, self-discovery, pain, vulnerability, and insecurities.
It was interesting seeing such accomplished people relying so heavily on the opinions and guidance of their friends/family. It was unexpected.
Other: Readers who enjoy fast-paced, second chance, friends with benefits stories should enjoy this book.
