To start, I need to give Webb major kudos. The amount of emotion and rage she had me feeling for these characters is impressive. I also felt like Webb’s writing was incredible throughout the story. I also really appreciated Webb’s spin on mythology and approach to world building. This was a unique and fresh take on stories that are already well known. This is truly not just another Greek mythology retelling, which was one of the main elements I found so exciting. Danae’s character development and growth felt natural and believable even if I struggled with her at times. For the plot as a whole, I did find the pacing inconsistent at times where it went from full throttle action to feeling like nothing happening, and I wish it was a little more balanced. I do think the action was well depicted without being over the top. The audiobook narration was well performed. Lucy Walker-Evans did well to moderate her narration to match the pacing of the story — speeding up during intense moments to heighten the emotional response. Walker-Evans was able to keep my attention from start to finish on the story.

This was a fun take on Greek mythology. It was action packed and I enjoyed seeing the Greek gods and goddesses thrown together throughout the story. I did find myself losing interest in the story at times and did not connect super well with the FMC. That being said, if you enjoy Greek mythology (which isn’t always something I gravitate towards), you should definitely give this one a read.
I will note that I listened to the ALC and did enjoy the narration.
Thank you to Harlequin Audio for an ALC in exchange for my honest review!

This was a really enjoyable mythology retelling! Honestly, I go into mythology books with a bit of hesitation, but this one was really entertaining and unique in my opinion. There are several well known characters such as Heracles, Atalanta, plus Jason and the other Argonauts, along with the usual gods of Olympus. However, there's a twist on their stories and I'm excited to see what's next in book two. Danae is the FMC and she has it rough. It was just problem after problem and I felt so bad for her, but so curious about her role in the overall story. I found the book exciting throughout and I was never bored. Even in the parts with less action, I found the story to be engaging and had me brushing up on some of the old mythology stories I read about. If you're into mythology retellings, this is a good one. The audio was also easy to listen to and the narrator did a great job.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job in bringing the characters to life this helped me to keep my mind from wondering and kept my attention on what was being narrated.
What I enjoy most about this book was the world it just so well crafted and well thought through. All the places and creatures I could see them vividly in my mind. One thing also that I enjoyed was that it was action packed, there was always something happening and didn’t gave you time to get bored.
But this fact was like a double edge blade yes it was action pack but at the end or almost at the end everything didn’t seem as exciting as the beginning too much was happening
And when the climax was reach it was just meh since the book was a constant of things happening left and right. Also the ending felt rushed, I didn’t even know that the audiobook was about to end until it did.
The one thing I didn’t like the most was the MFC, yeah she was trying to protect her sister at the beginning but later on she seemed to care for no one and was willing to sacrifice anything and any one to get to where she wanted to go.
One last thing this book has barely any romance so if this is what you’re looking for in this book then this is not the book for you.

The beginning really does hook you in !!
I’m a big greek mythology fan! And it did not disappoint.
From the struggles that the fmc she had to go thru in the beginning to her adventurous journey, the fmc did not give up seeking the truth.

WHY DID I GO INTO THIS THINKING IT WAS A STANDALONE! THE CLIFFHANGER WHY?!?
Okay, first, huge thank you to @harlequinbooks and @harlequin_audio because this is one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. @lyvansker did a wonderful job of enveloping me into the story! There were so many characters in this book and Lucy did a phenomenal job of differentiating between each one. She really was the perfect fit for this story!
This was the Greek mythology retelling that I was craving. The prose of @webbandpen is absolutely phenomenal and cannot be compared to anything that I have read since Odysseus in high school. In fact, there are a lot of comparisons between Odysseus and Daughter of Chaos. You follow the story of Danae who lives in a small town that is cursed by the gods. Her sister falls pregnant by a mysterious being and Danae is thrust into a chaotic, prophecy fulfilling story of travel, disaster, love, and ultimately a story about finding yourself. Danae encounters such fantastical creatures and that is one of my absolute favorite things in writing. The creativity you must have to come up with such unique characters and animals is incomprehensible. This is the type of story I imagine being studied in new high School classrooms for its amazing plot, character development and writing style. I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. I highly recommend this read to anyone who likes Greek mythology, Odysseus, and just all around amazing writing.

I didn’t expect to love Daughter of Chaos as much as I did, Greek mythology isn’t usually my thing, but this story was so fresh and action-packed that I couldn’t put it down. Following Danae, a fisherman’s daughter with a wild destiny, the book is full of gods, monsters, and intense quests. Seeing familiar names like Heracles woven into the story was such a treat, and the twists kept it feeling unique.
Danae wasn’t always easy to root for, but her struggles and growth made her feel real, and I couldn’t help but get invested in her journey. The worldbuilding was rich, and the action scenes were everything I wanted. If you love mythology or just need an exciting fantasy escape, I’d definitely recommend this one. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

I love mythology books so this was so up my alley and I was very hooked in the beginning! The main character is interesting, dynamic and relatable even though she was naive at times it was never annoying - I was immediately interested in the story. The world building was fantastic and such a unique take on Greek Mythology. The ending was a bit rushed and not what I expected but still really enjoyed. I thought the audio was done very well and enjoyed the narration.
Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing, NetGalley and The Hive for the ALC of Daughter of Chaos.

I find I almost always enjoy books inspired by Greek mythology, and Daughter of Chaos was no exception. I think I actually enjoyed the beginning of the book more than the rest, despite it being a little more slow moving. The characters were interesting, and I enjoyed the depiction of life in this small Greek village. Danae was likable and easy to sympathize with. I really enjoyed seeing the way she loved her sister as well as her interactions with other family members and villagers.
I did find the ending of the book to be a bit odd. It felt a bit disconnected from the rest of the book as a whole despite being the culmination of everything Danae had gone through up until that point. The jump in pace and even tone just ended up feeling a little abrupt, particularly some of the bits with Heracles. Overall though, I did really enjoy the book and will definitely be looking forward to the next one!
I switched back and forth between the eARC and the ALC for Daughter of Chaos, and I did want to say that while I found the narration overall to be good, some of the accent choices were odd. This is true for the male accents in particular. It kind of took me out of the story whenever I heard dialogue in a sort of Cockney accent (I’m not an accent expert so it’s possible it’s not exactly Cockney, but it sounded similar enough to throw me off). I wasn’t expecting heavy Greek accents or anything, but I definitely wasn’t expecting to be transported to London’s East End either. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the audiobook well enough.
Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing, Mira, and The Hive for both the eARC and ALC of Daughter of Chaos. All opinions are my own!

Thank you Harlequin Audio and NetGalley for the advanced electronic audio review copy of this book. This is a Greek Mythology retelling and a start of a new Parthenon Series. In this book we are following Danae who is investigating the disappearance of her sister and in the process finds out her own destiny as well. The pacing felt uneven, rushed in some places and dragging in others. It was difficult for me to stay engaged from about the middle of the book, thus I most likely would not continue with this series.
