Anne Penketh’s The Baguette Murders is a charming and fun cozy mystery set in the picturesque village of Louennec in Brittany. The story follows Pippa, a former banker turned baker, whose peaceful life takes a shocking turn when she discovers the body of fitness instructor Derek—murdered with a baguette.

The book is full of humor, twists, and small-town charm. Pippa teams up with her fellow Brit and friend, Jennifer, to solve the crime, uncovering secrets and navigating the quirks of rural French life. Their sleuthing is relatable and entertaining, and the backdrop of Brittany adds a delightful atmosphere.

The mystery keeps you guessing with clever clues and red herrings, while the characters bring warmth and personality to the story. Penketh’s writing is light, engaging, and perfect for fans of cozy mysteries.

The Baguette Murders is an enjoyable read for anyone who loves amateur sleuth stories, a touch of humor, and a vivid setting. A must-read for cozy mystery fans!

Meet Pippa. She’s feisty, forty-something — and living her best life in the charming little town of Louennec, Brittany! God book! This was sort of a cozy mystery thriller! It had suspense, great mystery, murder, a great who done it, even funny at times! The story was interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! I love this delightful quirky series which is set in Brittany. There's plenty of drama and dark secrets exposed in everyday rural life. I like how it is set in the present day with references to modern day issues. In all a thoroughly enjoyable read.
