CATHERINE DOES IT AGAIN!!! WOW the suspense had me on the edge of my seat! I can never guess who the bad guy is! The romance was so swoony too! I thought the narrator was phenomenal! Thank you so much netgalley for the ALC!
What a wonderful way to close out 2024 with All the Missing Pieces by my favorite author, Catherine Cowles! This book was an absolute page-turner—I devoured it in less than 24 hours.
Catherine Cowles masterfully blends suspense, mystery, and just the right amount of tasteful spice to create a gripping romance that kept me hooked from start to finish. The characters are so vivid and relatable, and the twists had me on the edge of my seat.
This story struck the perfect balance between heart-pounding suspense and heartfelt connection. I’m already counting down the days to dive into the next book in this series. If you love suspenseful romances with a dash of mystery, this is a must-read. Don’t sleep on this one—it’s the perfect book to end your year on a high note!
Catherine Cowles' writing just gets better and better with each book! And I will say right now that Ridley and Colter will go down as one of my top favorite couples she has written. Their story is perfection in every sense.
Things I loved:
The banter. Their chemistry. The enemies-to-lovers push and pull. The never-ending suspense. The small-town vibes, and all-consuming, addictive storyline.
Yes... I loved every.single.thing about this book and will shout it from the rooftops!
BRAVO once again, C Cowles!
This book was addicting. If you love true crime podcast or even small town suspense/mystery you will love this one. I fell in love with the podcast element of this story. I was putting the clues and pieces together as I was listening to the audiobook. Ridley is a true crime podcaster who started her journey after her sister went missing and has since been trying to connect the pieces for various other missing girls.
The audiobook is narrated by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York. These two are two of my top favorite narrators and loved them narrating this story and playing the roles of Ridley and Colt. There was so much tension with these two characters and loved seeing them slowly breakdown their walls and open up to one another. Such a perfect slow burn.
I think there needs to be mention of how much I adored Tater the cat!
“I want to make sure they all get a voice. All the ones who lost theirs.”
Catherine Cowles is only capable of writing and creating pure gold.
Seriously. When I think it can’t get better, she starts a completely new series that blows me out of the water. And every single time, I am never able to figure out the bad guy! HOW DOES SHE DO IT‽?‽
Ridley Sawyer is the kind of person I wish I could be. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wish to experience her past and her traumas, but she knows who she is and isn’t afraid to chase after it. She is proud, sure of herself, and knows that what she does is meant to help others—no matter how much pain it might cause her in the process.
As the story—and the true crime component—unfolded, I fell for both Ridley and Colt, their baggage, and what drives them. I loved watching them try to uncover the truth while simultaneously becoming closer and closer to one another.
And while I love every character Catherine introduced us to, in her truest nature, she also made me question nearly every single one of them.
“You helped me find all the missing pieces.”
I loved every moment, every page, every sentence of this story. It’s a masterpiece and I will be thinking about for a long time to come.
If you haven’t read a Catherine Cowles book yet, you’re missing out. And this is a phenomenal place to start. In all honesty, I blew through this book and then beat myself up for letting it end so quickly.
Tropes:
- Enemies to lovers
- Nicknames
- Romantic suspense
- Only you
- Touch her and die vibes
- True crime
- Podcaster x Police Sheriff

Thankful for being on Catherine Cowles team! This is a beautiful book from the inside plot to the outside foiled cover! Also, thank you NetGalley for linking up to the audiobook! It was so well done!
In true Catherine Cowles form, this gave us suspense, spicy romance and an enjoyable plot! I love a grumpy/sunshine duo with an enemies to lovers trope! Then you have the heartfelt story of the girl trying to bring justice to the disappearance of her sister.
The ending had me on edge, but I was so relived how everything came together! I also loved Emerson's story! I was so happy when she found her voice and spoke up on her experience.
This is my first Catherine Cowles novel, and I think 2025 taught me that I’m a romantic suspense fan and clearly need more.
Short Synopsis:
Ridley Sawyer is host to a popular true crime podcast. When she arrives to Shady Cove to open a cold case, the sheriff is anything but friendly. But don’t worry, he warms up to her.
My Thoughts:
I binged this entire book in a day - and it’s been forever since that happened. (I’d like to thank winter break.) Before I discovered audiobooks, I was a true crime podcast lover and would listen to them all the time. This was such a fun crossover.
I adored Ridley and her bubbly positivity and strength. I struggle a bit with a cop MMC, but even I eventually warmed up to Colt. I adored their banter and relationship and nicknames.
I did this primarily on audio and Andi Arndt and Sebastian York did a lovely job bringing Ridley and Colt to life!

Gah! I LOVE a Catherine Cowles book so much!! She just has the romantic suspense nailed. The mystery is amazing every time. I’m always guessing until the very last minute!
And the romance side is 🤌🏻 Ridley 😭 I love her. She’s so special. She takes her job as a true crime podcaster incredibly seriously and she’s so loving and caring even after everything that’s come at her in her 27 years. And that includes one grumpy Law Man, Sandy Cove’s very own grumpy, hot sheriff. And while Ridley has turned to see the positives after her past, Colt has used it as a shield. And he’s none-too-pleased when Ridley rolls into town pushing at one of the small towns cold cases.
But the way these two push and pull ?! I love it! I need more 🤣😭
Thank you so much Catherine Cowles and Dreamscape Media for an ALC! Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are amazing and some of my favorite auto-buy narrators. They truly bring the story to life and perfectly capture Ridley and Colt! I have my deluxe paperback copies preordered and a spot on my shelf ready for the amazing book!
All thoughts are my own, I really love Catherine Cowles 💕
4.5 stars
After hearing raving things about Catherine Cowles's books from the online bookish community, I knew I had to try her books. I was not disappointed!
The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover. Purple is my favorite color and paired with the pink, I just knew this was the one I would start with. I also love me a good murder/cold case/podcast.
Our first main character Ridley has a popular podcast where she tries to solve cold cases (and has succeeded in a few). Years ago, her twin sister disappeared and was never found, so she now tries to get closure for others. Her next case brings her to a small town where a girl Emmerson had been kidnapped, but got away.
The sheriff of this town, Colt, is our second main character. He is Emmerson's brother and tries to shield her from anything else happening to her.
Ridley and Colt start out on rocky shores. Colt is angry that Ridley has come to stir up things that he would be happy never thinking about again. He wants her gone. But they both have an undeniable pull towards each other that might turn into some steamy chemistry. Ridley was a great character. She's independent and headstrong. She cares so deeply about trying to help others. She also has a demon cat named Tater who was one of my favorite characters. She is also very lonely. She lives in a van and stays wherever her cases take her. She has no roots and no home really. Colt is extremely protective over Emmerson as I mentioned. He is determined to solve her case, but just cannot find any information leading in any new (or old) directions. He is gruff on the exterior, but also cares deeply about the people he loves and his town. I enjoyed the chemistry between Ridley and Colt. Ridley is aware she is only here until she finishes her podcast, so they dance around each other for a believable amount of time before starting anything.
The mystery aspect of this story was great. We find out some similarities between Emmerson's case and Ridley's sister's (but I don't want to spoil anything). A lot of the book is focused on the case and it weaves in well with the romance aspect. I was so interested to find out who the culprit was since we meet so many characters and it really seems like it could be any of them. I thought I had it figured out, but I ended up being way off!
One thing I really enjoyed about this book was that after the attack, Emmerson became agoraphobic. I enjoyed that rep because someone close to me has agoraphobia and it was just nice to see that in a book. It always gives me a little bit of hope and the recognition of how hard something like that is makes me feel seen.
My only critique is that the phrase "pebbled nipples" was used too many times.
The audiobook had 2 narrators, one for Ridley and one for Colt, which I always love. Especially when the characters are different genders. They both did a fantastic job and fit the characters so well. I could picture each of them and the stories they told so vividly.
I know for sure that this will not be my last Catherine Cowles book!
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Every time I read a new Catherine book I say it can’t get any better and every time she says hold my beer and writes something even better. I am in love with this book. All the Missing Pieces felt totally different than what Catherine has written before and I am so here for it. It has more of a mystery/detective/true crime vibe to it with the investigation going on in the story but still has all the same feels and emotions and funny banter you can find in all of her books. The twist was actually spot on (and I didn’t even have a clue of what it was before it happened) and left me shocked. It felt like a breath of fresh air. One of the best part for me was the Characters, Ridley especially. She is so sweet, kind and nurturing. There is a light and tenderness to her but also a fierceness and a burning fire. I loved her view on life and how her character shows a different way of grieving and how something can change you. I loved how the underlying theme of grief was also shown and used in the story. It felt relatable and showed that there is not only one way to grieve or one reason to grieve. This story really brings out all the feelings but has a very good balance and will keep you hook from beginning to end. I thought everything involving Tater was hilarious. Finally the last detail I lived for in this book is the series crossovers! Man do I love them and I got so excited when someone from another series was mentioned. I was lucky to also get the audiobook and thought the voice actors were amazing. The rhythm was good, their voices were perfect (oh hello Sebastien York you can talk to me all day long) and they really manage to bring the story to life.
Synopsis: After the disappearance of her twin sister at a college party, Ridley has made it her mission to investigate cold cases to give families the answers she never got. Her latest case brings her to Shady Cove, where she clashes with Colt, the broody small town sheriff.
Thoughts: BRB, running to grab Catherine’s entire backlist. Seriously, why did I wait so long to read one of her books?! This was SO GOOD. This book really hit the sweet spot for me between true crime podcasts, suspense and romance. The prologue had me immediately hooked, and I was basically on the edge of my seat biting my nails the rest of the book. The suspense and pacing is so well done. Let’s talk characters - I love Ridley and her sass and determination. Colt is the ideal broody, grumpy sheriff. The way these characters butt heads at first and then connect on such a real and deep level is perfection, and I feel like the spice in this book actually reflects/complements that. The depiction of grief and healing is thoughtfully handled and definitely had me tearing up a time or two. Oh and I can’t talk about the characters without a shoutout to Tater the three-legged cat. 🐱 I HIGHLY recommend picking this one up in January! A note on the audio: I love a dual POV book with two narrators and Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are fantastic!

I absolutely loved this story! Being a fellow true crime podcast lover, the whole concept of the book was right up my alley. There were interviews, multiple suspects and logical methodology that are typically included in a good true crime podcast, but put into a romantic suspense story! Basically, many things that I love were incorporated.
Another aspect of the book that I love was the setting and characters. With its stunning lakes and mountain views, I felt like I was right there experiencing the sites. I couldn’t get enough of Ridley’s cat, Tater and her “tooth hugs”! Additionally, the enemies-to-lovers trope was full on between the two MCs. The two’s chemistry was sizzling and I was here for it. The cast of secondary characters deserved an Oscar. They had depth, strategically contributing to the story by keeping the pacing of the story running along and making me want to know them all as friends.
Additionally, the narration by Andi Ardnt and Sebastian York swept me away into Ridley’s and Colt’s world and was a great audiobook to listen to.
Overall, this felt quite different than a lot of Catherine’s stories and she did a spectacular job in crafting this story.

Honestly, everything this woman writes is freaking GOLD. Tater and her “tooth hugs” had me CACKLING! 😂
The narration by 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒊 𝑨𝒓𝒏𝒅𝒕 & 𝑺𝒆𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒀𝒐𝒓𝒌 was literally perfection. It was so well done. It made me feel like I was a part of solving this mystery. I will be listening to the story over and over again.

Our FMC, Ridley Bennett, became a popular true crime podcaster after the disappearance of her twin sister derailed her life 5 years ago. Her latest case hits close to her heart, so she parks her VW bus in Shady Cove and begins her hunt for answers.
I loved everything about Ridley. She’s so strong. She took an event that would break anyone and used it to help others. I loved her banter with hot and broody Sheriff Colter Brooks! That man had me in a chokehold. He is super protective of his town and especially his sister. When Ridley’s life is targeted, this man turned FERAL to protect her! The chemistry between them was so special!

This a slow burn that freaking IGNITES in the last half of the book! Colter. Brooks. 🤤❤️🔥

Per usual, even though I was so attentive with my written suspect list, I FAILED at solving this case. 😅 I truly did not see that ending coming.
I am so excited that Catherine now has traditionally published books! She’s one of my favorite authors and I am so excited to continue seeing her books in bookstores!

I highly recommend the audiobook for this one, with two narrators who bring the characters and this complex suspense story to life perfectly. I admit I was up very late listening because it will captivate you page 1. And twist you inside out.
This is a small town suspense with an enemies to lovers story between two characters who you’ll fall for immediately.
Ridley is a bada$$. She’s determined. She’s empathetic. She’s amazing. Full stop.
Colt is a grumpy protector, sure, but one HOT grump of a man who fiercely protects those he cares about. Just try not to fall for him. Ridley couldn’t resist. Don’t blame her one bit.
There’s that grumpy-sunshine attraction which is absolute fire when they finally give in.
Their snarky banter and perfect nicknames for each other will make you smile if not laugh out loud at times.
And let’s talk about the animals - there are several to capture your heart. Ridley’s 3 legged cat, Tater, who likes to bite with what Ridley calls “Tooth Hugs.” Colt? Not so much a fan of those bites. Tater also rides alongside Ridley on her paddle board. Colt’s dog, Bowser, has eyes especially good for begging. And Colt’s sister, Emerson, has 3 dogs, most notably Bear, a Bernese mountain dog, who you can just picture falling into laps - all 100 pounds of him. No one writes better animal characters than Catherine Cowles.
Without giving away spoilers, as Colt and Ridley grow closer to solving this case, and they catch real feelings for each other, Catherine gives us a LOT to contemplate. There’s a delicious twisty plot. My heart was in my throat until the very end. And yes I want more from the characters of Shady Cove - book 2 please and thank you Catherine. The secondary characters are just . . . “Chef’s Kiss.”
This may well be my very favorite Catherine Cowles book and that’s really saying something since I absolutely love all of her books. But this one? It’s really special. You’ll find yourself totally engrossed in this suspenseful plot as well as in the romance between “lawman” and “chaos”. Be prepared to stay up late like I did. So worth it.
Ridley Sawyer has a true crime podcast and she has just arrived at Shady Cove to cover a failed abduction that happened 10 years ago and she's convinced is linked to a series of crimes - including the disappearance of her own twin sister.
Colter, the sheriff (and big brother of the victim she wants to interview) is not happy. He thinks she'll just stir muddy waters in his town and , especially hurt his sister in the process.
When Ridley indeed steers the murky waters and gets attacked, Colt steps up to protect her and the hate to love tension between them cranks up to 11.
A serial killer is on the loose, feeling are getting thrown in the mix and the walls both Ridley and Colt have erected around their hearts come tumbling down... But someone is dead set on killing the remaining twin
Chaos! That's how Colt calls Ridley and that's exactly what she brings to Shady Cove and his life. Their banter is absolutely amazing and I loved how the gripping suspense was so well intermingled with the swoony romance.
The audiobook is narrated dual style by none other than Andi Arndt and Sebastian York. Andi gives Ridley all the sass and vulnerability of someone who carries the burden she does. We all know Sebastian York can do a grumpy hero like no other and his Colt is grumpy, conflicted, protective. A must listen!
I have to say I am a fan of Catherine's books and this one is perfection! It has more of the suspense in the way she develops the story and it flows perfectly. And you will be shooketh when you find out who the culprit is!
Thanks, Catherine, NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ebook and the audiobook. I can't wait to go back to Shady Cove!
Content notes: mentions of kidnapping, attempted SA, violence, death of a sibling, SA of a minor by an authority figure, death of a chid, grief
A new series by Catherine Cowles means a new favourite place to love and new characters to fall all over, which I am totally here for that!
Ridley is a true crime Podcaster who investigates cold cases long forgotten, she works to find threads that can unravel old mysteries and bring the culprits to justice while giving peace to the victims.
Her next case brings her to Shady Cove where she hopes to find the truth about a series of disappearing that began with the abduction of a teenage girl, the only one to escape.
Colt is the town's Sheriff and he can't allow Ridley to go around town and disturb the peace, especially since people are already hurting because of that case.
But when her case gets attention from the wrong people and Ridley is attacked he can't keep his distance nor from the case nor from her.
How I love a heroine in danger and the man that helps her complete her goal, Colt wants to save her but he is learning that being close by can help just as well, the big protective hero learns a whole more about love especially when he loves an independent woman.
Ridley' part is heartbreaking but her strength and will never let her give up, she doesn't pick the easy way out byt continues to fight for all the right reasons.
The suspense is real and the mystery is amazing, I was equally impressed and surprised by the revelation since I was suspicious of pretty much everyone and that was the magic of it all.
The town and side characters were all amazing, and without giving any spoilers away I have to say I really can't wait for a certain couple to get their own happy ever after.
I listened to the audiobook and both narrators managed to capture exactly the book and bring it to life.
* I want to thank the author for providing me with an ARC.
Another fantastic story from Catherine Cowles. I listened to the audiobook and it’s fantastic! Andi Arndt and Sebastian York deliver an amazing performance. Their voices are so strong, vulnerable and loving. They give each character perfect voice, personality and emotions.
Catherine takes us on an adventures…the perfect amount of suspense, great investigating and amazing characters who are determined to discover the truth.
Ridley is determined to find answers about her sister’s death. She’s not afraid to ask the questions, do the work or not run from the truth. She needs to find closure.
Coulter has his own baggage and he does not give Ridley the warmest welcome. He is very protective of his town and its people.
Love how their relationship grows and develops once they are vulnerable with one another and begin to earn each others trust. They are a great team and will stop at nothing to protect one another and get answers.

I really really enjoy Catherine's books. I know I'm going to get 2 MCs I'll enjoy reading, vivid descriptions of the locations to the point I want to visit, romance and suspense, and a
a 'holy cow, I didn't see that coming' twist!
In this book, Catherine gives us a traveling podcast host searching for justice for victims and their loved ones and a small town sheriff who don't get along initially.
My favorite Sebyo ( Sebastian York ) narrates with Andi Arndt. I do love this narrator pairing and as always Sebyo brings his A game.
My new favorite book by Catherine! I loved the enemies to lovers plot and how Ridley shared her/others stories through her podcast! It was a very unique plot and I really enjoyed it!
I already read an early ebook copy of this, but doing a reread with this audio, I was just as captivated with this story - if not more!
The story itself is so good. The characters and plot had me hooked from the start the first time through. With the narration this time, the story really came to life! These are 2 of my favorite narrators ever and this audiobook was no exception.
They really embodied the characters and emotions of the story so perfectly!
