book two of the Omen of Ice duology
the ending to this epic adventure was done so beautifully. I really enjoyed book one and was thrilled to read book 2 it did fall a little flat for me however it was a great end to the over arching storyline.
things I really enjoyed:
well paced, plot development, character development,
I've loved this duology. Keltania and Valen have their work cut out for them as they figure out how to defeat Aphelion. They're also trying not to let on that they're completely in love with each other.
With the addition of a child with winter magic, they're working to find a way to protect the people of their courts and keep Aphelion at bay. But she seems to keep finding a way in, and surprises them at her ability to infiltrate with her magic. Tania is containing far more magic than any one being should in order to save them all. But can she save herself?
I am not ready to be done with these characters!. Great job wrapping up the duology but I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. The two MC relationship grew so much in this and the superb mythic background that plays throughout the book makes it hard to put down. Great world building and conclusion to the story.
I just finished Nature of Frost by Jus Accardo, and I’m absolutely mesmerized! This book is a dazzling blend of heart-pounding action, intricate world-building, and unforgettable characters.
Jus Accardo has crafted a story that feels both epic and deeply personal. The icy landscapes are so vividly described that I felt the chill in my bones, and the tension throughout kept me glued to the pages. The protagonist’s journey is full of courage and vulnerability, making them incredibly relatable and easy to root for.
What sets this book apart is its perfect balance of high-stakes adventure and emotional depth. Every twist and turn hit hard, and the story lingered with me long after I turned the last page. If you love fantasy that’s immersive, thrilling, and packed with heart, Nature of Frost is a must-read!
With the twists from the end of book 1 I knew I would be hooking right from the beginning of this one. Our two main characters are Valen and Tania and they start off right back in the action by trying to untie the fae kingdoms to fight against Alphenia. This is a true YA fantasy (no marketing towards ya and it actually has mature adult sexual scenes). It’s full of adventure, humor (great side characters!!), and romance. Great duology.
Imagery, details, and plot were skillful with a rich take of Fae Kingdoms and court politics.
The author’s style of storytelling is not my favorite, often telling instead of showing with actions.
3.4/5 stars
This is the fun conclusion to Omen Of Ice, and follows the continued adventures of Keltania and Valen as Valen takes his place as Lord Winter.
I read this in one sitting, staying up way past my bedtime to finish the story. I loved the dual perspectives and the introduction of some amazing side characters from the Autumn, Spring , and Summer courts. The twists and turns were fun to see happening.
What you’ll find in this:
- Fae being fickle
- A hilarious Kelpie
- Quest to save the Winter fae
- Druid
- Prophecies that aren’t fully explained
- Dying lands
Recommend for those seeking a completed fae duology, closed door romance (the characters are 19), young adult.
Ugh this was sooo good. What a way to end the duology. Thank you Entangled for sending me an early copy and allowing me to fall back in love with Valen and Tania. This was soooo fucking cute and I’m so glad they got their HEA.
The sequel of Omen of Ice takes you on a complete whirlwind of adventure. Tania and Valen continue down the path of no peace as they take a stand against Aphelian who is on a mission to destroy the fae while executing her revenge. The world-building continues in this book and the descriptions make it so easy to visualize everything. It may be a YA novel, but it was a pleasure to read and an author I will be following.
This was a strong sequel in the Omen of Ice series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the first book. The characters were everything that I was looking for and thought it continued the story perfectly. Jus Accardo continued the story perfectly and was engaged with what was happening with the characters. It was everything that I was looking for and enjoyed how it was used in the genre. I can't wait to read more from the world and from Jus Accardo.
Nature of Frost is an adventure-filled conclusion that picks up where Omen of Ice left off. Incredibly captivating and hard to put down!
Accardo does a great job of wrapping up the story with a satisfying conclusion. Valen and Tania's relationship is prominent in the story without overshadowing the plot. I loved them in the first book and even more in this one!
This book begins with seeking out the other Fae courts to form alliances against Aphelian and introduces many new characters. Gensted is such a funny character and might be my favorite of the new people we meet in this book. I feel like Wren had potential, but faded into the background the more the story went on.
The writing and pacing were both well done. I enjoyed that the pace stayed steady throughout the entire book. The writing is detailed yet easy to read. Overall, this was a great read. I liked it more than the first one and will look into Accardo's other work!
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Teen for the arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love a good duology! I enjoyed the development of the characters in Nature of Frost and the elements of found family pieced together on a quest. This book kept me rooting for Tania and Valen and their love story, but I also fell in love with several of the side characters and their quirky personalities. This was definitely a fun read and I would recommend!
Thank you Entangled Teen for the ARC!
This is a good conclusion to the duology. Keltania and Valen face escalating threats as they attempt to unite the fae courts and harness the returning magic that could save or destroy their world. The tension of their hidden connection and the kingdom’s looming peril kept me hooked. Accardo’s rich world-building and fast-paced storytelling shine, while the snarky banter and emotional depth between Keltania and Valen add charm. The twists and surprises kept me guessing, and the elemental magic brought a unique touch to the story. This book is perfect for fantasy fans who love adventure, intrigue, and slow-burn romance. It is a gripping, unforgettable read.
This is the second book in the duology and starts back up where Omen of Ice ended. Keltania and Valen still share a bond but have made a deal with Alphenia that will ultimately be the demise of the fae unless they can unite the Kingdoms to fight back against her.
Some of the same same characters from book one make a reappearance, but we are introduced to many new characters as well. I feel like there is so much more character development with Keltania and Valen in this story.
There are quite a few plot twists introduced and plenty of action throughout this story. The ending brings closure to everything that has happened. I really enjoyed reading this duology and would love to see a spin-off story for some of the new characters introduced!
Nature of Frost is the second and final installment in author Jus Accardo's Omen of Ice duology. This story focuses on two main characters: Valen Frostreaver and Keltania Tunne. Keltania spent her whole life training to be an Aphelian, one of the few druids left descended from the nearly mythical Aphelian who helped save everyone by giving up most of her magic to a fae she loved. Tania is one of the more skilled fighters to come along. Her ability and cunning make her the ideal candidate to become a Fae protector.
Valen is the heir because of who his mother was, and the fact that he is likely the only one in the entire court who was born with magic. Magic is slowly drained from him to keep up the lies built upon for generations. Not so long ago, Keltania thought she knew the world—and her place in it. Magic was all but dead, and the kingdom was torn apart. Then, she was sent to the court of the Winter Fae and charged with the protection of Valen, the icily arrogant prince who some believed would bring about the destruction of them all. Instead, he brought magic.
The greed for magic nearly destroyed their world, and its return could plunge them all back into chaos—or unite the estranged fae courts if they move quickly. Now, Keltania and Valen must navigate the temperamental fae, their insidious secrets, and an enemy who would cleave the kingdom in two in the name of vengeance while hiding the truth of their connection. It's magic. It has remarkable power. And its ability to crush their hearts in two. But no one knows that Valen struck a secret bargain with their enemy...and soon, everyone in the land will face the consequences.
The story is told from both Keltania and Valen's points-of-view, and they each have the knowledge and folklore of their people to draw from. The druid and fae histories are linked but with disparate histories passed down, particularly since the fae are basically immortal and some witnessed the Great Drain and the war or are only a couple generations removed from it, while the druids are many, many generations removed. There are definitely quite a few unexpected twists in the story.
While some elements seemed easy to guess, many left me completely shocked. The banter between Tania and Valen is so incredible. Valen and Keltania are very good for each other as they are opposites and balance each other. Tania is persistent, courageous, strong, and fierce. Valen has a lot of secrets and an unfortunate childhood, which explains a lot about why he tries to be cocky, charming, and glib about what happens around him. I would definitely recommend this series from the beginning.
Rating: 4.5/5
I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
This is book two of the duology, and I liked that it picked up right where book one left off. I liked that in this book you will see a lot of action, showing us more about the magic system and how the druids use it, the plot was well developed but I did feel as though it was rushed at times, and you will see some romance in the book but it's more of a true YA fantasy and I loved that. I found the author’s world building was done well, and as I said I think we could have gotten to know more if this was split into three books instead of two, but other than that I think it was well done. I liked that the author took right off in the beginning of the book and it didn’t slow down at all until you get to about the middle. I loved all the action and drama that was taking place in the book, it really added a layer of high tension when reading it, and I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I liked that we got to know more about the characters in this book and that the author threw in clues that were finally answered at the end of the book, that really made me say “oh that makes sense now”. The ending was wrapped up nicely and in a satisfying way and I found the twists that the author did to be revealed at the right time and one I didn’t see coming. I liked the fact that we got to see how the characters were handling everything that happened in book one and how they were going to take care of the problem that arose.
I really liked that we got to see Keltania come more out of her shell in this book, and you can see how she truly understands more about herself at the end of it. I liked that we got to see how she was handling the high stakes moments and trying to wrap her head around everything that is going on, but she is still true to her order of making sure that Valen is safe, even though she should be worried about herself more. I loved the banter between Keltania and Valen in this book, and how they're still trying to hide what they mean to each other even though they’re not doing that great at it. I still found Keltania to be fierce and determined even when everything is not looking great for them. With Valen, I found his character to be more developed in this book and you can see that he takes charge in this book. I liked that he was determined in this book and was more possessive of Keltania but he still made sure that he was handling the threat to the fae and the world. I found romance to be a true YA book because it’s there and you will get all the feelings from it but it’s not the focus of the book, it’s more in the background. I still found myself able to connect with the characters in this book easily and I liked that it was a fast-paced book.
I can’t wait to see what other books this author will put out.
I want to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review!
Overall, this novel places at a 3 stars for me. Enjoyable but had a slow pace in the beginning and middle and I felt some of the chemistry was lost between the characters between the first book, and this final novel of the series.
I loved the first book of this duology, and the story between Valen and Keltania. Though that story continues in this book, Book 2 of the duology, the pace felt much slower and I had a harder time reading through this book. I understand that certain things and people had to come together in order to give us the push for the ending of the book, but even parts of that felt unnecessary to me while reading as they didn’t seem to fully tie in at the end. I felt as though the circumstances in the first part and middle parts of the book were at a pace that was too slow. The last 30% of the novel really sped up and was a lot more action packed. Much of the information and mystery was revealed in that portion of the book, and it had the effect of feeling slight info-dumpy quality. I wish these elements would have been better woven into the plot over the full course of the book. Though the last 30% or so was my favorite portion of the book and I really did enjoy it.
I still loved Valen and Keltania, and felt that Keltania has such an interesting character journey. Keltania’s growth and personal journey was much more in focus in the last 40% with some hints in the beginning parts of the novel - but again, the more interesting parts to me were in the last portion of this novel. Valen’s banter and needs from Keltania got repetitive throughout the novel. I didn’t enjoy the banter this time around as much due to the repetitive quality as well.
The writing was fairly straightforward, though repetitive at times in terms of conversation and topics between characters/worries/feelings etc. However, I do enjoy Jus Accardo’s writing and would definitely continue to read her books.
Though I didn’t enjoy this second book as much as the first, if you’ve read the first one this is a good conclusion to the story and still recommend reading it to be able to enjoy the whole series!
This book is full of adventure and magical moments. Even though I didn't really liked the shaky romance, I did like the storyline. To stop the prohecy from coming true, the omen of ice must embrace its fire. This book is a quest through the other courts, with the mission of giving the magic back to it's rightfull owners. I really enjoyed this search.
I really enjoyed reading Nature of Frost. The twists were really awesome. In addition the good pace of the story made it an easy read. I would highly recommend reading this 4 star duology!
Wow! I really loved this second book. I thought the characters were amazing and the banter and interactions between Tania and Valen were perfect. I loved this unique story that takes you through elemental Fae kingdoms with a dash of druids along the way
This book is a captivating conclusion to the Omen of Ice duology. This sequel takes readers deeper into the enchanting and perilous world of the fae, where magic and danger intertwine.
The story follows druid Keltania Tunne and the enigmatic Winter Fae prince, Valen, as they navigate a kingdom on the brink of chaos. The return of magic, once thought lost, brings both hope and peril. Keltania and Valen must confront insidious secrets and a vengeful enemy threatening to tear the kingdom apart. Their journey is fraught with tension, as they hide the truth of their powerful connection and the devastating consequences of Valen's secret bargain.
Jus Accardo's world-building is exceptional, painting a vivid and immersive picture of the fae realms. The new lands and characters introduced in this book add depth and richness to the story. The dynamic between Keltania and Valen is compelling, filled with emotional complexity and a palpable sense of urgency.
Overall, Nature of Frost is a fantastic read for fans of romantasy. It delivers a satisfying conclusion to the series, leaving readers with a sense of wonder and anticipation for what Jus Accardo will create next. If you enjoy stories with strong character development, intricate plots, and a touch of magic, this book is definitely worth picking up.
