I’m giving this book a solid 3.5 stars. It was enjoyable overall, but it dragged a bit in the beginning and middle, and I felt like some of the spark between the characters faded compared to the first book.

I was really into the first book in this duology—the dynamic between Valen and Keltania totally pulled me in. Their story does carry over into this second installment, but the pacing in Book 2 just didn’t work for me as well. It felt noticeably slower, and I found myself struggling to stay engaged. I get that certain plot elements and characters needed to align to set up the ending, but a few of those storylines felt like filler because they didn’t end up playing a meaningful role later on.

Once I hit the last third of the book, though, things really picked up. The pacing shifted dramatically and there was a lot more tension and action. That’s where most of the reveals and major plot developments landed, though it did come off a bit info-dumpy. Personally, I would’ve liked to see those pieces spread more evenly throughout the story rather than packed into the final stretch. Still, that last 30% was easily my favorite part.

I still adore Valen and Keltania as characters, and Keltania’s arc especially stood out to me here. Her growth really took center stage in the final chapters, with a few hints earlier on. That said, the back-and-forth between her and Valen started to feel repetitive. Their banter, which I loved in book one, didn’t quite hit the same this time around—it just felt like they kept circling the same ground.

The writing itself is pretty accessible and easy to follow, though I did notice a lot of repetition—especially in character dialogue and emotional beats. But I do like Jus Accardo’s style overall, and I’d definitely check out more of her work.

So, while this second book didn’t quite live up to the first for me, it still delivers a satisfying ending to the duology. If you read and liked book one, I’d still recommend picking this one up to see how the story wraps.

I absolutely loved the first book and was so hopeful about this one. That being said, there were parts of the story that I felt were too rushed. We’d get information about things but I was still left with questions. It kinda felt like they wanted to fit a little bit about everything in this book to be able to finish the duet off, but I think the story could’ve benefitted from a novella maybe so the information didn’t feel to squished in. Even still, I LOVED this one just as much as the first. The World building was just as fantastic in this one as the first, the slow burn romance had my heart all twisted in a good way, and the storyline continued to hold my attention as hard as book 1. I don’t read a lot of YA but this was definitely one that I added to my shelf.

I have been waiting for this book for yearsss. I am so excited to have had the chance to read it. This was an action packed ride that lead to such a satisfying conclusion! Tania and Valen are in denial about their feelings. I love how there is a different dynamic in this story, where she is protector. Definitely recommend this duology!!

Mini Review: Nature of Frost by Jus Accardo

This book picks up right where Omen of Ice left off, with Keltania and Valen still bound together. The character development in this sequel is fantastic—both characters grow in unexpected ways, making their journey even more compelling. You’ll get plenty of action, unexpected twists, and sizzling chemistry that keeps the pages turning. While the middle slowed down a bit, the ending was satisfying and well worth the ride.

• My Reading Experience: Really Good!
• Book Spice: None
The is book 2 in the series!
I enjoyed the flow of the story. While I did think that some parts were too easily resolved, the journey was still intriguing. The challenges and tension between the main characters enhanced the overall story.
I would read this again in the future!

"Nature of Frost" is a captivating conclusion to the Omen of Ice duology, with Keltania Tunne standing out as a strong and amazing main female character. Her character development is exceptional, showcasing her strength and determination. Despite societal perceptions that often villainize women, Keltania's loyalty to the king and her efforts to rectify past mistakes make her a compelling and admirable protagonist. The world-building is vivid and immersive, with a well-balanced blend of action and character development. The dynamic between Keltania and Valen is emotionally complex, adding depth to the story. Overall, this book is a must-read for fans of fae lore and intricate fantasy worlds.

I really enjoyed Nature of Frost. Picking up where Omen of Ice left off, the entire cast is back and the perils they find themselves facing are just as treacherous. The prophecy lingers over their heads as they travel the world building an alliance to take down Aphelian before she can destroy everything they cherish. Unbeknownst to any but Valen he's made a deal with her to spare Tania's life and that must also be dealt with. So many troubles face our small force as they attempt to save and, hopefully, restore their world.

To fight Aphelian, Valen and Tania need help. With a plan to restore magic to the other fae courts they set out to find any remaining fae colonies. They spend weeks fighting one life threatening opponent after another, including the other fae at times, but finally convince each leader to come to the winter court for the magic transfer with assisting in the war with Aphelian the price. The thirty day deal Valen made with Aphelian doesn't mean she's leaving them alone. She sends multiple threats at them that tax their resources and slow their progress. Poor Tania struggles constantly with her roles.

The book is full of twists and turns, characters (both good and evil) and constant danger. Eventually, the other court leaders receive their magic and it's tested before they even manager to master their new skills. Tania fears her connection with Valen. What can befall them through this link. She can't risk his life. She can't let anyone know she can wield his magic. So many stressors, external and internal.

It's fun to watch our hero, heroine and others work through harrowing circumstances. Can they earn their happily ever after and save their races? I truly enjoyed turning the pages of this book to find those answers. You will too.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

“Nature of Frost” by Jus Accardo is an absolute masterpiece that effortlessly blends romance, magic, and mystery in a way that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. From the very first page, Accardo's captivating writing pulls you into a world brimming with vivid descriptions, intriguing characters, and a plot that twists and turns in all the right places.

The protagonist, Frost, is a beautifully complex character who navigates a world of supernatural creatures and personal struggles. Her journey of self-discovery is as heart-wrenching as it is empowering, and you can't help but root for her every step of the way. Accardo has a unique ability to make you feel connected to Frost, making her triumphs feel like your own and her challenges deeply personal.

The world-building in “Nature of Frost” is simply stunning. Accardo crafts a rich, immersive universe filled with chilling magic, mysterious beings, and intricate dynamics that make the world feel alive and real. Every detail adds to the depth of the narrative, from the atmospheric setting to the tension that crackles between the characters.

The romance is equally well-crafted. It's a slow-burn, intense connection that builds organically, full of chemistry and emotional weight. You can feel the pull between Frost and her love interest, and the relationship adds a layer of warmth and heart to the otherwise frostbitten world they inhabit.

But it's not just the romance or the magic that makes this book stand out—it's the emotion. Accardo's writing is full of depth, and you can't help but be moved by the characters' personal growth, the sacrifices they make, and the way they find strength in the face of darkness. *Nature of Frost* is a story that will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between.

In short, “Nature of Frost” is a phenomenal read that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page. Jus Accardo has crafted a story that's thrilling, heartfelt, and utterly unforgettable. If you're a fan of magical realism, romance, and powerful storytelling, this book is an absolute must-read. Five stars all the way!

Big Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I was highly anticipating Nature Of Frost. I was able to Omen of Ice thanks to Owlcrate last year and really fell in love with it. So when I got the email that I got approved for an arc I was ecstatic. But after finishing I kinda feel meh about the series as a whole. The first book was such a fast paced journey and the characters had so much charisma and chemistry. But it’s sequel Nature of Frost was snail pace slow and then ending felt like it wrapped up way too quickly. There were multiple moments where I debated DNFing. In the end I’m glad I pushed through but some of the events that transpired within definitely could’ve been cut out. Even with all that said I still love Valen & Keltania. Watching their characters journey and development over the course of these two books was a fun ride that I think any fellow YA reader will also love. Plus the banter between these two will always be top notch for me.

Overall, even though I didn’t love the sequel as much as book one. I still highly recommend the duology. The conclusion will leave every YA fantasy reader extremely satisfied.

After the events in Omen of Ice, I was really looking forward to the sequel and more of Keltania and Valen — especially a major growth in their relationship. Alas, Nature of Frost left me feeling disappointed over how Keltania’s character evolved, or rather, devolved, I should say.

In direct contrast, Valen was a delight. I liked his character growth even as he stayed the charming rascal. He actually dealt with his issues and persevered.

Keltania, throughout the entirety of the book, was plagued by doubts and insecurities and it was frustrating when she was supposed to be strong and a badass but except for the last few pages, she just kept giving into her insecurities instead of growing past them.

The romantic tension and chemistry was also sadly missing.

That said, I enjoyed the new characters a lot and the plot-line was a good one with plot twists that kept me turning the page.

I've loved this duology. Keltania and Valen have their work cut out for them as they figure out how to defeat Aphelion. They're also trying not to let on that they're completely in love with each other.

With the addition of a child with winter magic, they're working to find a way to protect the people of their courts and keep Aphelion at bay. But she seems to keep finding a way in, and surprises them at her ability to infiltrate with her magic. Tania is containing far more magic than any one being should in order to save them all. But can she save herself?

I am not ready to be done with these characters!. Great job wrapping up the duology but I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. The two MC relationship grew so much in this and the superb mythic background that plays throughout the book makes it hard to put down. Great world building and conclusion to the story.

I just finished Nature of Frost by Jus Accardo, and I’m absolutely mesmerized! This book is a dazzling blend of heart-pounding action, intricate world-building, and unforgettable characters.

Jus Accardo has crafted a story that feels both epic and deeply personal. The icy landscapes are so vividly described that I felt the chill in my bones, and the tension throughout kept me glued to the pages. The protagonist’s journey is full of courage and vulnerability, making them incredibly relatable and easy to root for.

What sets this book apart is its perfect balance of high-stakes adventure and emotional depth. Every twist and turn hit hard, and the story lingered with me long after I turned the last page. If you love fantasy that’s immersive, thrilling, and packed with heart, Nature of Frost is a must-read!

With the twists from the end of book 1 I knew I would be hooking right from the beginning of this one. Our two main characters are Valen and Tania and they start off right back in the action by trying to untie the fae kingdoms to fight against Alphenia. This is a true YA fantasy (no marketing towards ya and it actually has mature adult sexual scenes). It’s full of adventure, humor (great side characters!!), and romance. Great duology.

Imagery, details, and plot were skillful with a rich take of Fae Kingdoms and court politics.
The author’s style of storytelling is not my favorite, often telling instead of showing with actions.
3.4/5 stars

This is the fun conclusion to Omen Of Ice, and follows the continued adventures of Keltania and Valen as Valen takes his place as Lord Winter.
I read this in one sitting, staying up way past my bedtime to finish the story. I loved the dual perspectives and the introduction of some amazing side characters from the Autumn, Spring , and Summer courts. The twists and turns were fun to see happening.

What you’ll find in this:
- Fae being fickle
- A hilarious Kelpie
- Quest to save the Winter fae
- Druid
- Prophecies that aren’t fully explained
- Dying lands

Recommend for those seeking a completed fae duology, closed door romance (the characters are 19), young adult.
