This was my first book by Abby Jimenez and I'm currently searching all her other books because I need them all now that's how much I loved this story with Samantha and Xavier.

I laughed so much, I got sad I also got mad for them having to do the whole long distance relationship and not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

I highly recommend this book can't wait to read more by this author.

I actually cannot at this point. To this day I haven't read a single Abby Jimenez book that I haven't immediately become obsessed with the minute I picked it up. I am UNWELL.

Laughing. Sobbing. I really did it all in this book. I will admit, Say You Remember Me is definitely one of Abby's heavier books in terms of themes, and it definitely wouldn't hurt to have a box of tissues near by.....THAT BEING SAID Abby has such a beautiful way of writing the sensitive topics and putting your heart back together after. This book is a rainbow after rain.

I don't even care that I have this book on my kindle, the minute it comes out in paperback, she will be mine....probably on audio too tbh.

Big thank you to NetGalley and Hachette AU for the e-arc!!!

This book was beautiful, enthralling and an emotional roller coaster (or Ferris wheel😉) with its highs and lows.

It’s everything you'd expect from an Abby Jiminez book: swoon-worthy romance, laugh out loud moments, deep emotional themes, complex problems, and a mmc who will raise your standards impossibly high (did I mention he's a hot veterinarian?!!)

I was hooked from the very first page and immediately fell for our brooding mmc, Xavier Rush (who is described as looking like Rhysand from ACOTAR multiple times)

The inside jokes and memories that the two characters make on their dates are so wholesome and perfect I need this as a rom com film yesterday🙌

Without spoiling the plot, here's some of my thoughts:
-The pacing starts really fast and engaging, and slows down in the middle to really sit with the characters and their struggles
- This book is lighter on the romance in order to accurately depict the ups and downs of a long distance relationship
- go there is strong familial themes that take precedence over the romance towards the end
-the romance is super pure and authentic but their time apart only increases the tension the low points in this book have you feeling so sad for the characters.

So if you're wanting a romance book that'll make you laugh, frown, giggle and then tear up, this book is for you!!

Romance books may not be entirely for me but Jimenez does a wonderful job. The characters and plot are wholesome and there's some great character exploration.

I almost considered DNF’ing this book in the early stages of reading. The first few chapters were quite jarring to read after absolutely loving Abby's other recent works, with some insta-love, writing that felt juvenile and overall filled with current social media lingo..there were also a lot of comparing the MMC Xander to Rhys from ACOTAR (4 times!). However, I'm glad I kept reading because the romance eventually developed well, and the other themes and storylines became deeply engaging and emotional. The trials and tribulations this couple went through really pulled at the heartstrings. While the book can't quite reach five stars due to its rough start, I ended up enjoying it overall.

Samantha goes on an epic date with her cat’s vet, Xavier, that lasts until he has to drop her off at the airport for her move to California to care for her mother with early onset dementia. Samantha and Xavier try to forget each other and move on, but no amount of distance can make them forget what they had together. With huge obstacles and distances between them, the couple try to make it work knowing they might not ever have the life that they dream of.

This is another great read from Abby featuring a grumpy vet, a bubbly FMC and their adopted menagerie of pets. Of course, with any Abby book, the happily ever after doesn’t come easily and the main characters are faced with impossible situations. The emotion of this book was definitely there, although I didn’t find myself as impacted as I expected to be (maybe because I just finished A Little Life and I have no more tears left to cry!). This book is about family, creating a life worth remembering, being known others and choosing what is most important, even when that might not look how you want it to.

I sadly didn’t love this one. The romance felt like a secondary storyline, with the main focus on Samantha’s mum’s dementia diagnosis. It didn’t have the sparkle I’ve loved in previous Abby books and felt very dreary and sad

The story follows Samantha and Xavier, whose relationship develops amidst personal struggles, including Xavier's past and the impact of dementia on Samantha's family. Jimenez’s heartfelt writing evokes strong emotions, making readers laugh, cry, and reflect on the characters' journeys. The chemistry between Samantha and Xavier is palpable, and their connection feels genuine. This book is a poignant exploration of love, family, and personal growth, making it a must-read for fans of heartfelt, emotional stories.

Say You’ll Remember Me

Plot:
Xavier Rush is a charming vet with a heart of gold, seems perfect that’s until his words reveal he's not quite the flawless guy Samantha imagined. After a wild night together, Samantha pushes him away due to her family’s crisis, only to realise that their connection is too strong to forget, and now she’s determined to make something lasting out of it.

My Thoughts:
FAVOURITE READ OF 2024! I am so honoured to have had the opportunity to have read this before so many other people. Not to boast. But this was an absolute treat.

Every single page was perfection. I enjoyed reading every single sentence. I continued to think about the plot of the book even when I took a break between chapters. I could have honestly read the whole thing in one day.

The chemistry between Xavier and Sam was so sweet and realistic. The plot felt real and not cheesy at all. The additional of other issues and themes in the book was perfectly balanced with the romance in the book.

I’m obsessed with Abby’s books and I can’t wait to read more of her other books in 2025. Do NOT go without reading this!

Abby Jimenez owes me therapy and I’m glad. I could write a 10,000 word essay on how much this threw me, on how much I loved it. The perfect combination of devastating, witty, and utterly exquisite writing.

A story of right person, wrong time. But it’s so much more than that. It’s about the importance of memory, it’s about filling your world with colour, it’s about sacrifice, it’s about the complexities of life and love. If you’re someone who is sentimental or someone who believes in the power of love - I strongly suggest you read this one and have tissues or you’ll be like me with a very wet sweater.

I was surprised given its insta-attraction that I loved it the way I did. But they didn’t feel disingenuous. It felt horrifyingly, gut-wrenchingly, beautifully real. There were times I was feeling physical hurt and heartache for Samantha & Xavier, her family, their situation, the animals. Not gonna lie, I probably cried for like 60% of the book. Even when it was happy, the eyes were leaking. It hit me deep in the soul and it felt so personal.

I thought Abby handled Lisa’s dementia, the families caregiving and their dynamics and their disappointments, Xavier’s childhood trauma, the reality and financial impact of long distance relationships with so much care. As a health care professional, and as someone who felt seen during parts of the book - I really respect the research and the attentiveness to such sensitive subjects. Abby just doesn’t miss.

A special shout out to my guy, Hank.

I can’t wait for you guys to read this one when it releases in April. Thank you to Net Galley and Hatchette for the early copy!

Abby Jimenez does it again with this phenomenal read. She balances romance with raw and emotional stories that make you root for the characters while seeing them as real people. As a digital marketer I loved that Sam was a marketer and the animals throughout with veterinarian Xavier, this book was perfection. As someone who has witnessed loved ones going through dementia and alzheimers this was an incredibly raw and emotional read for me. I was rooting for everyone from page 1.

Big thank you to NetGalley and Hachette AU for the e-arc of Say You'll Remember Me. This book was a sensational read. I laughed, I cried, I could not put it down. I'll never hear "Come on Eileen" the same way again.

It features dual POV of Xavier - a mysterious, brooding vet (with a description akin to Rhysand) and Sam - a witty, bubbly social media expert., as they forge an unexpected connection and romance. The main characters romance is sweet and funny, while also being heart-aching challenging. It explores the dynamics of long distance relationships in a painstaking accurate way.

Another key component of the story is the role of both Xavier and Sam's complicated family dynamics, in particular with Sam moving back to California to undertake a larger role in caring for a family member with dementia.

Read for:
* Instalove
* Grumpy/sunshine
* Long distance relationship
* Complicated family dynamics

‘Sometimes the challenges we face either break us or they make
us stronger.
And sometimes they do both.’

This was my first Abby Jimenez book and I am thoroughly impressed!
I have heard great things about her work and now I understand why.

Loved the preface of this book. How little things can build up until you reach a breaking point. I also thought that having the mother with dementia and the family dynamics changing throughout the book was done beautifully.

Now of course I enjoyed this book but there was some things that kinda felt off for me personally. Felt that at times random current pop culture moments were placed into the book which I thought was a bit odd and kind of felt forced. Now this next point is on me, I’m not a big insta love girlie and this was very much one.

In saying that, the romance between Xavier and Samantha was so cute. So many heartfelt moments. Loved the long distance relationship and how it impacted their relationship. I felt that their romance was very authentic.

Yes this is a romance, but I will say that the family matters for me was more of the focal point which I actually really enjoyed. We got all the romance with also a solid storyline.

Happy reading 🩶

My review :

A beautifully written love story from the dual perspective of Samantha and Xavier.

How is it that you can meet the love of your life right before you’re meant to move back home ?

This is the first novel I’ve read by Abby and I loved every minute of it! The long distance romance, the hot vet!

Abby handled sensitive topics like dementia with great care and empathy. She was able to navigate the complexities of discussing such a difficult subject with sensitivity and respect. Her approach highlighted the challenges of caring for someone experiencing cognitive decline, emphasizing not only the emotional and mental strain involved but also the importance of patience and understanding. Abby’s thoughtful handling of the topic allowed for a deeper appreciation of the difficulties caregivers face

Abby never fails to write a book that speaks to me on a deep level. This story was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once and I loved every second of it. I sped through it, couldn’t put it down!

The characters are relatable and realistic, but more than that, the love feels so real and the plot itself is all believable.

The book also touched on some really difficult topics, specifically dementia. It was so realistic, so heart-wrenching and I felt for everyone involved.

The long distance relationship was also relatable for me! Not directly, but my best friend recently moved overseas to finally be with her partner and this story hit me in the feels. Again, realistic and relatable.

The other thing I love about Abby’s writing is that I can actually visualise what’s happening. I find I usually can’t, but I could with this book and the others I’ve read of hers. I can really immerse myself in the world!

I loved this book from start to finish and can’t wait to read more from her. 💗

OH MY GOD!?

This book? I laughed I cried, it was so deeply emotional in a way I wasn’t expecting.

I haven’t read a good long distance romance in a really long time and this impacted me in a way I can’t describe. This book is more than a romcom and I could not put this down. The Diaz family was so emotional and raw that they felt real and I was hooked from moment one.

“The universe doesn’t just hand out true love.”

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This book was everything. Pure perfection. Chefs kiss! One of the best romance novels I’ve ever read. It is the most beautiful love story ever!

It was genuine love, it wasn’t corny and didn’t make you cringe. The story was just perfect, it wasn’t trying too hard to throw in every topic under the sun throughout the book. It was real. Real love, real family situations, real pain, real loss. This book made me so emotional, it’s been a while since a book has made me feel like this.

I absolutely adored the characters, the family dynamics was not all smooth sailing but in a family crisis I loved how they all pitched in. This is a difficult situation that is faced by many families and was written exceptionally well, my heart hurt for them.

I could talk about this book all day, I loved every page. So many beautiful moments as well as some difficult ones too. I must read more Abby Jimenez, I forgot how good her books were!

I will be recommending this book to EVERYONE! It’s a must read, do not leave it on the TBR for too long, read it asap!

Thanks a million @hachetteaus and @netgalley for sending me this early copy. So grateful.

Let's get straight to the point: When the MMC is described as a human version of Rhysand, you know you're going to get my attention.
This was my first Abby Jimenez book and I thought it was a cute romance with some really nice moments. What I liked about this book was that you have the main romantic plotline going on, but there were also the subplots of different family dynamics which really brought a lot more depth to the story. My only complaint was I felt like there was a lot of getting-to-know-you chat, it seemed to drag on...but...as a former Vet Nurse I really respected how much research had gone into Veterinary life (MMC is a Vet) and I hadn't read a book with a Veterinary setting before so that was interesting.
What to expect:
Forced proximity
Veterinarian
Cute Escape Room Date
Long Distance Relationship
Complicated Family Dynamics (on both sides)
Parent with Dementia.
Dual POV

Thank you so much to Hachette and Netgalley for my EARC.

2.5/5 ⭐️
1.5/5 🌶️

I just want to preface this review by saying that this book wasn’t horrible, I just didn’t LOVE it. and in comparison to Abby’s other books, I feel like it fell short.

On that note, let’s start with what I didn’t love:

Insta love.
If you like the insta love trope, you may just love this book. The MCs start off on rocky footing but once they sort themselves out, they fall quick and they fall hard. Not necessarily an issue but I found it frustratingly unrealistic.

Xavier, the high-lord of cats and dogs.
Abby repeatedly makes a reference to Xavier having an eerily similar appearance to Rhysand from ACOTAR. I’m not saying this book is just one big AU ACOTAR fan fic… but I’m not, NOT saying it. She also relies on this reference to do the heavy lifting when it comes to describing Xavier’s appearance, so good luck if you haven’t read ACOTAR.

Long Distance.
Anyone who’s ever been through a long distance relationship knows just how challenging it is, what a toll it can take on a relationship, how much effort it takes to maintain something healthy, how easy it is for miscommunication to occur etc. but Xavier and Sam’s only challenges seem to be the financial burden the visits create and that they miss each other. That’s it. They never argue, they are always available to answer the phone (which is highly unrealistic) and they never get upset over their miscommunication/noncommunications, of which there were many. It’s just so shallow which is sad because I think this kind of relationship isn’t often represented in romance, and this could’ve been the perfect opportunity to explore it.

Chemistry.
In that, it’s virtually non existent. There is so much happening in the plot that the romance feels a bit like an afterthought. Granted, there’s some cute moments, but I didn’t feel that tension us romance readers know and love. There was just no fire.

Show DON’T tell.
I really don’t understand this one because Abby has historically written books sticking to this rule. She is usually careful to show her readers what the characters are doing and feeling, but this book is heavy on the tell. As a result I consistently felt distant to the story, and really struggled to get into it a lot of the time.

It wasn’t all bad though.
Here are some of the things that I really loved:

- I loved Sam as a character. I loved her feisty, witty, and loyal personality as well as her creative protectiveness over the people and creatures she loves.
- I felt that the discussion around early onset dementia & the representation was pretty spot on.
- I giggled at all the witty Instagram captions
- And lastly, I adored Xavier’s general kindness and gentleness towards Sam and her family.

Overall, I don’t think this book was necessarily bad, it just wasn’t for me.

Thank you to Net Galley and Hatchet AUS & NZ for supplying me with this eARC.
