I have adored every book in Jennifer Moore’s The Blue Orchid Society series, so I was excited to finally read Dahlia’s story in Discovering Dahlia. The story was everything I wanting for Dahlia and more. It was so good.
The story begins with a prologue of the night when Dahlia’s life fell apart and continues with Dahlia’s life a year later. The changes in Dahlia from the prologue to the actual story are subtle, but they show up in little ways throughout the story. I loved how Dahlia grew and changed as she left society behind and took over her father’s steamship company. She was still herself but a bit wiser, and she knew her worth wasn’t tied to her beauty or her place in society. I loved seeing Dahlia’s success
Dahlia and Lord Meredith were so cute together. I loved how their relationship developed and grew, especially when Dahlia starts to really see him. Lord Meredith was so patient with Dahlia.
Things to love:
-friends to more
-working woman in Victorian England
-mystery
-strong female friendships
-he falls first
-swoony kisses
Moore does an incredible job of mixing information on women stepping into careers in the male dominated Victorian era with an engaging romance. It was beautifully done. I adored this book. This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading all of the books in the series. I adored each book, and I loved seeing all of the members of The Blue Orchid Society together in this book.

When the man she expects to marry suddenly and unexpectedly announces his engagement to her friend rather than her, Dahlia withdraws from the ton, who are all mocking her, shuns her former friends and throws herself into work. She does this to such good effect that, only a year later, she finds herself welcoming many members of the ton on a trial cruise on her the family shipping line's new cruise ship - her own special project. Unfortunately, this means facing former friends, including the man who rejected her - as well as Lord Meredith, his best friend, who also used to be a good friend of hers. And while she's successfully avoided him for the past year, it's going to be much harder to do so on board ship. Worse, strange things start going wrong that may torpedo her new venture before it even really starts. Will Lord Meredith be able to convince her to give him a second chance? And can they work out what's going on on the ship before it's too late?

A delightful read, with characters I enjoyed getting to know, an interesting storyline, an unusual setting, a wonderful band of friends, and a touch of mystery thrown in for good measure. I've loved each of the books in this series and this was definitely no exception. I'm not convinced that Lord Meredith's allegiance to his friend based on school days was warranted given the circumstances, but I did appreciate the character that made him stick with his friend when he felt that was the right thing to do. And it was great to see Dahlia's friends rally around when she needed them - including Lord Meredith, whose patience with her was nice to see too. After she'd been through so much, it was great watching her get her happily ever after, even if the road was far from straight. For those who've read previous books, it's nice to see more of old friends, but each is a complete standalone story. All in all, a great read - recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

I feel like I’ve waited so long for Dahlia’s story, and I loved it! I had never thought about how cruise ships got started, and I really liked having the setting of this book on one of the (fictional) early ones. It was such fun and unique setting! I loved the mystery also. I had a few ideas on whodunit, but I wasn’t completely certain until close to the end, which I loved. I’m sad to say goodbye to the Blue Orchid Society, but at least I can-and will!-revisit this world when I reread the series.

While I think you could enjoy this book without having read the rest of the series, I really encourage you to start at the beginning so you can get to know all the Blue Orchid Society ladies and the other characters in this story.

This was a great ending to the series! I liked that there series was building to this ending and hinting at the final couple. I also liked that there was a bit of a mystery in this story. I would recommend reading the books in order as I feel like it's more enjoyable that way. This is a great series for fans of historical fiction!

The novel centers on Dahlia, a strong-willed young woman who, amidst the trials of her time, seeks personal freedom and a deeper understanding of herself. With its blend of romance, personal growth, and intriguing historical context, this book is a captivating read for fans of historical fiction.
One of the standout elements of Discovering Dahlia is the character development. Moore crafts well-rounded characters, particularly Dahlia, whose emotional journey is compelling. Dahlia's transformation from a woman struggling with societal expectations to one who finds her own voice is touching and inspiring. Her personal growth is at the heart of the story, making her a relatable protagonist for readers.
The romance in the story unfolds gradually and naturally, adding depth to the plot without overshadowing the primary themes of self-discovery and personal strength. The chemistry between the lead characters is palpable, though the focus remains on Dahlia's emotional and personal evolution. Moore skillfully balances the romantic elements with Dahlia’s independence, ensuring that the love story complements her journey rather than defining it.

loved this story. A suspenseful romance mystery that takes place on a cruise ship. At the beginning of the story Dahlia thinks she is going to get engaged but in a surprise to her and most everyone else in the room he announces his engagement to someone else. Even though this isn’t her fault she is shunned from high society even all of her closest friends avoid her. She inherits a relative’s cruise line and starts to run that business. For its initial voyage under her ownership, she invites people to enjoy a free cruise including those who shunned her. However, she did not invite the guy who she thought she was going to marry and his wife. Somehow they got an invite. Odd and sometimes dangerous things happen and a few select people are trying to figure out what’s going on. A great story on learning to trust again.

What a book, y'all. What. A. Book.

I have loved every single book in the Blue Orchid Society series and Discovering Dahlia is no exception. This was the best ending to the series!

I'm fairly certain this book has it all - a determined leading lady, a strong, tender hearted hero, a full cast of awesome side characters (including a fantastic group of friends, some sweet older ladies I'd take as my grandmas any day, and some obnoxious villains you just want to kick in the shins), a luxury cruise in the Victorian era, mystery, intrigue, plot twists you didn't see coming, the sweetest romance, the swooniest kisses.....seriously what is there not to love here??

Dahlia and Miles were so perfect for each other. I loved watching their relationship grow as they rekindled their friendship and fell in love. When everything worked out for them in the end I just wanted to cheer for them. If anybody deserves a happily ever after, it's these two.

If this book isn't on your TBR list already, it needs to be. So put it there. Then binge read the other four books in the series if you haven't read them yet in preparation for this one to release on April 1st (totally enough time 😉). #thisistheway

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the early copy; all thoughts are my own.

I love this series. I loved seeing Dahlia change and grow and come into the person she was meant to be. I loved her friendships with the other Blue Orchid Society ladies and their significant others. I loved seeing her forgiveness and kindness to everyone, even those that didn't really deserve it. I loved seeing her relationship with Lord Meredith change and evolve. The mysteries were fun to try and solve. I loved this book.

I have loved the Blue Orchid Society series. I love what Ms. Moore wanted to show about women and supportive relationships. And I loved Discovering Dahlia. It is kind of sad to see the series end but I still enjoyed the book. This one is a mystery as well as a love story. I wasn't surprised by the 'whodunit' since I had my suspicions early on but it was lovely to watch the Blue Orchid society and their spouses/fiancé along with Dahlia's loyal assistant and Lord Meredith work together to solve the mystery. The romance isn't fully resolved except in terms of hope for a happy future since they haven't really worked out how it will all go yet but the hope was strong.
I think Dahlia was a brilliant business woman although perhaps a little too trusting since she didn't believe any of the people on board could be doing the small tricks or big threats. I'd really like to go on a cruise on her ship. It sounded so lovely.
I enjoyed reading this book.

I have loved this series about strong, smart women from the very first book. Although I am sad to see the end of this series, Discovering Dahlia was a wonderful finale.

I love Dahlia's strength and resiliency. She is a fantastic character! I love the friendships between the girls of The Blue Orchid Society.

This book grabbed my attention from the start and held it throughout. Full of mystery and romance, Discovering Dahlia is a book you will stay up way too late reading!

*Thanks to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Absolutely loved the book about Dahlia! Jilted at her engagement but starts a wealthy cruise line. Strives ahead with opposition from both male and female acquaintances. On her maiden voyage she has many challenges along the way. Wonderful mystery story that keeps you up reading it until you finish! Loved the twists at the end trying to figure out who did it. Fabulously written! Loved it!!!

Following a painful public humiliation, Dahlia Lancaster was left heartbroken, friendless, and shunned by London Society. Yet Dahlia decides to turn her attention to her steamship company, and after a year of work, she is ready to launch The Aurora, a luxury ocean liner that promises to revolutionize travel. The invitation list is Dahlia’s closest friends—the Blue Orchid Society—as well as a few influential individuals from her old life, whose presence will ensure the success of her endeavour. Yet Dahlia must try to maintain her calm when her previous suitor, now married, is one of the guests on The Aurora, with his wife. Yet a long-ago friend of hers, Lord Meredith (Miles) also accepts an invitation to sail. He has loved Dahlia since their first meeting, and soon their friendship begins to flourish. However, any chance of a romance is interrupted when things begin to go terribly wrong and it appears that someone is trying to sabotage the voyage. With Lord Meredith at her side, Dahlia is determined to discover the culprit.
I enjoyed the character of Dahlia, who has the ability to rise above the narrow-mindedness of the ton and forges ahead with her business. Miles is such a sweet and kind man who does all that he can to support Dahlia. A sweet and clean romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a wonderful read! From the moment I finished the prologue, I was hooked and had to know what would happen next in Dahlia's story. I struggled to put it down! The suspense, the romance, and the mystery kept me eagerly turning the pages, and I was invested in every twist and turn of the plot.

Discovering Dahlia is the fifth and final book in Jennifer Moore's "Blue Orchid Society" series and wow, it did not disappoint! Dahlia and Miles are both part of high society and once shared a friendship, but after Dahlia was publicly humiliated by one of Miles' friends, she distanced herself from him. The rejection wounded her deeply, making it difficult for her to trust any man, especially Miles, who is connected to the person who caused her so much pain. They both end up on a ship excursion together, Dahlia, as the ship's owner, is in charge of managing the journey. But while on board they are shocked to experience some strange occurrences causing them to have to be on high alert, investigating what or who is behind it all. Miles steps in to help, and as they work together, the old spark between them is rekindled. As they uncover the mystery threatening the ship, they also find themselves facing the chance to build a future together despite the past that still haunts Dahlia. Can Miles restore their friendship and gain her trust again? Most of all, can he convince her that they could have something more? Will Dahlia take the risk of loving again, after all it took to heal from her past rejection? As they work to discover who is sabotaging the ship, they must also uncover the target and the motive behind it... before it's too late!

This story was wonderful, and even though I hadn’t read all the previous books in the series, I didn’t feel I needed to in order to enjoy this one. That said, I do find myself wanting to go back and learn about all the women in the Blue Orchid Society and their love stories. I loved Dahlia’s independence and her strength in rising above such a humiliating experience. I also enjoyed seeing the snippets of the friendship between Miles and Dahlia. I was rooting for them long before I knew how he truly felt. The mystery definitely kept me turning pages, and the forced proximity of everyone aboard the ship made for an interesting story!

I received a complimentary copy, and this review reflects my honest opinion.

Dahlia is such a great character, and Lord Meredith is a gem. After a public humiliation, Dahlia shows her meddle by succeeding in the shipping business, unheard of for a woman in the 1870s. I haven’t read previous books in this series, but that didn’t impede my enjoyment.

I had not read the other books in the series but was able to follow along. All the other ladies of the Blue Orchid Society were on board the first voyage of the SS Aurora, a luxury cruise and you could see the love and support they had for each other. I loved Dahlia, who, after being humiliated by her fiancé and his family at a very public ball, was able to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of her destroyed love life and face society head on once again with her head held high!

There were two mysteries that needed to be solved and both targeted poor Dahlia. I loved that Dahlia was able to be the bigger person and advise Ruben to focus on his lovely wife and not continue to compare her with Dahlia as she was a woman worth loving.

All in a lovely story I thoroughly enjoyed. I plan to read the stories of the other ladies of the Blue Orchid Society as well. I received an ARC from the publishers and NetGalley and submit my honest review voluntarily.

Oh the mystery! I thoroughly enjoyed the ship adventures, the mystery and plot twist, and the amazing romance.

I loved Dahlia’s friendship with the Blue Orchid Society girls. I enjoyed all of the interactions of the larger friend group too. Dahlia was such an intelligent, determined woman. I loved seeing her realize she needs someone to confide in and lean on during all the ship troubles. Lord Meredith, Miles, I loved how determined he was to rekindle his friendship (and maybe more) with Dahlia. I loved seeing him stand beside her and lend a hand without taking over. Theirs was a sweet romance!

This is my first book by Jennifer Moore. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series. (This is the 5th book but it stands on its own too.)

This ARC was provided by NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review, rating and opinions are my own.

Perfect ending to a wonderful series!!

After being publicly jilted a year ago, Dahlia has turned her frustration and heartache into a new luxury ocean liner in her father's steamship company and has invited friends and influential members of society to be part of the maiden voyage.

Lord Meredith has been in love with Dahlia for a long time and is hoping to rekindle their friendship - and perhaps more - during the voyage. But when it becomes apparent that someone on the ship is intent on not only causing mischief but hurting Dahlia, the two must discover the identity of the culprit before it's too late.

What you'll love:
Victorian era
forced proximity
friends to lovers
dual pov
intelligent, driven FMC
protective hero
Blue Orchid ladies & their SO
he falls first
the castle
fast paced
mystery and suspense
sweet, slow burn romance!

I have been anticipating Dahlia's story since I read the very first book in the series and it did not disappoint!! I love each of the Blue Orchid ladies and their drive to learn and contribute to society and pave the way for women to break out of the mold.

Dahlia and Lord Meredith's romance was sooooo sweet! I love that he has been carrying a torch for her and that they were able to rekindle their friendship. Loved the honest communication between them - so refreshing - and the way they grew to trust and confide in each other. Loved the suspenseful moments and the mystery (it took me awhile to sort it all out!) and of course, who doesn't love a protective hero?

This is the fifth and final book in the series. It an be read as a standalone but I think the series is best enjoyed read in order as you see cameos of the characters in each book and there are definitely spoilers for earlier books! This is such a favorite series for me and I will definitely be re-reading each and every one!

Content: kissing only, kisses only, attempted murder

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

“Discovering Dahlia” by Jennifer Moore

“Discovering Dahlia” is the fifth and final book in Jennifer Moore’s Blue Orchid Society series. I have read the other books in this series and enjoyed them so I was excited to read this final one!

"Discovering Dahlia" is about a promising heiress, whose broken engagement and humiliation All its members ended up finding their match in the next couple of years, and as this story begins, Dahlia feels a little lonely.

One year ago Dahlia suffered a blow she didn't see coming. She was a society darling and almost engaged until her intended Lord Ruben announced his engagement to another, Dahlia's good friend. Embarrassed, ashamed and shunned from high society, Dahlia found herself alone and lost. And worst of all, she lost her good friend, Lord Meredith, a close friend of Lord Ruben.
This scandal led to the creation of the Blue Orchid society with similar-minded ladies. After the scandal, and with her father ill, Dahlia, inherits his shipping company and with the help of her new friends and allies, she ventures into making luxury cruises and becoming an accomplished business woman. One year after her shunning, she invites her friends on the maiden voyage, however, lord Ruben and her former friends secure invites also. All is well until someone tries to sabotage the voyage. Finding herself confiding in Lord Meredith is comforting and a little exciting. Maybe she can find love on this voyage also but first they need to discover who is trying to ruin it.

I was excited to get to read Dalia’s story and see her growth, how she overcome her history and build her confidence and become an independent risk-taking woman. Her Love interest, Lord Meredith, was also a great character. They were a great couple. I also enjoyed seeing the characters from the other books in this wonderful series.

“Discovering Dahlia” is the 5th and final book in the Blue Orchid Society series written by Jennifer Moore. It was a great conclusion to this series. I totally recommend this sweet clean book to all fans of historical romance with some elements of suspense and mystery. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the entire series for more enjoyment.

It has been such a treat to read The Blue Orchid Society and experience these beautiful stories as an ARC reader. I have absolutely loved getting to know these five best friends and seeing them fall in love and become pioneering women in their respective fields.

I have been anticipating Dahlia's story since the beginning of the series and loved getting to know her. In many ways, Dahlia is the reason the Blue Orchid Society comes into existence. When a public announcement of a betrothal does not go as planned, she seeks solitude but finds life altering friendship. Now, she is the president of her family shipping business and has orchestrated a first of it's kind pleasure cruise on the SS Aurora with her friends and members of the ton. I loved seeing Dahlia thrive as the leader of her company and seeing how she connects with her crew and guests. She has a gift for connection and that is on full display in this novel. I admire her strength, patience, and loyalty. Seeing her let Miles back into her life was also beautiful.

Miles has loved Dahlia longer than anyone has known and I loved the support he is able to give her. He sees her more clearly than Ruben or the Darling Debs or even the Blue Orchid Society sees her. To Miles, Dahlia is capable, independent, beautiful, and inspiring. I loved seeing how he seeks to reconnect with her and understand how to help her. While their romance feels impossible at times, Miles and Dahlia are truly right for each other. I loved their first kiss on the castle tower, their embrace in the cave, and how their love shines through when things go unexpectedly and repeatably wrong.

One of my favorite elements in this series is the unique time period that allows for such fascinating stories of women in new roles and careers. The Victorian Era offered so many new opportunities for women and I love seeing those on display in this story. Dahlia is the new president of her company because of a new law that allowed women to inherit such titles. I loved seeing her thrive in this role and see her dear Blue Orchid friends on the cruise. Their skills are needed from medical care to investigative journalism. This story (like the others in this series) is exciting and surprising. The mystery surrounding the mishaps on the cruise is engaging; I felt very invested in the story and in figuring out who was sabotaging the cruise. The twists and turns that reveal who is responsible are well developed and surprising. Just when I thought I figured it all out, a new twist surprised me!

Overall, a beautiful novel to finish a beautiful series about achieving big dreams and the power of true friendship.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own
