This is the fifth and final book in the Blue Orchid Society series. Dahlia awaits that announcement of her engagement at a ball, but when the announcement is made, she is shocked to hear her best friends name instead of her own. A year later finds Dahlia Lancaster aboard a cruise ship that she designed a maiden voyage with her friends and wealthy passengers. When unexpected things begin to happen, Dahlia wonders if she shouldn't cancel the cruise altogether. This book had a ribbon of suspense woven through it and was a great end to the series.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. This is book 5 in the Blue Orchid Society, and it did not disappoint. Each book can be read as a stand-alone novel. This book follow Dahlia, a young female entrepreneur, and Lord Meredith as they work together to figure out who is out to destroy her steam ship business. This book includes romance, adventure, and mystery. If you love clean historical romances, then this is a must read.

This was a strong fifth entry in the Blue Orchid Society series, it had that historical romance element that I was looking for and enjoyed the overall feel of this. The characters were everything that I was wanting and enjoyed the overall feel of them in this world. I enjoyed the way Jennifer Moore wrote this and it was a beautifully done story and enjoyed the ride.

Discovering Dahlia is the fifth and final book in the Blue Orchid Society series by Jennifer Moore. This book is set in Victorian England in 1873 and includes the full cast of characters from the previous books in this series. It might be hard for readers to grasp all the names in this book if they haven’t read the previous books, so I recommend reading those first for the richest experience.

Miles and Dahlia are both members of elite English societal circles. They have some mutual friends, and have themselves enjoyed friendship in the past. Due to being publicly rejected by one of Miles’ friends, Dahlia keeps her distance from Miles even though she wishes they could be friends again. Miles holds a torch for Dahlia, and will do anything to be near her.

They get their chance at forced proximity when they both embark on a steam ship leisure excursion with their friends. Dahlia owns the ship, so she must manage all the daily ship operations and several mysterious happenings. Miles seizes the opportunity to assist Dahlia and the ease and mutual enjoyment of their former friendship is reinvigorated.

Together they must protect the ship’s patrons from an unknown nefarious person, and also see if they can forge a future together.

I enjoyed this book and the dual POV and of both Miles and Dahlia. If you like clean historical romance with a cozy mystery/suspense vibe and no heavy themes, you’ll love this book. There are a few great tropes too: age gap, he falls first, and friends to more.

This was a gentle story with a few slow parts toward the middle in my opinion, but the friendship and love that developed between Miles and Dahlia was very sweet.

The word usage seems appropriate for the time period, but modern enough that readers can easily comprehend it. I really enjoyed reading the history of early steam ship leisure travel excursions and also early female business owners during the Industrial Revolution.

Historical note: The Victorian game of quoits is mentioned often and worth looking up before you start reading. It’s similar to the game ring toss.

Content: No language, graphic violence, or explicit scenes. Kisses only. Appropriate for any age.

Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for a complementary copy of this book. My review contains my own words and is in no way influenced by the author or publisher.

I pretty much enjoyed this story. I finished it in one evening because it was so good.
Wonderful characters and a great storyline set aboard a cruise ship. S.S. Aurora.
I loved the way the author described the ship to make us readers feel like we are aboard as well.
Dahlia is a cool character in my opinion. I really enjoyed in getting to know her.
5 stars for a wonderful adventure! I highly recommend

I liked this book. It was well written and happened on a cruise ship, which was unique. The mystery aspect of the story was interesting, with a ton of twists and turns. The broken friendships and the emotions were flushed out well. The romance itself was very lukewarm. I did not feel like Dahlia and Miles did not spend as much time with their feelings as much as solving the mystery.

This was a great wrap-up for this series. It involved all the characters we had gotten to know and love from previous books. Dahlia had expected to become engaged to Lord Ruben, but instead he became engaged to her best friend. As a result, she was shunned by the ton. She didn’t let this ruin her life, but instead put her heart and soul into her shipping line. She created a beautiful cruise ship and invited all her friends on her maiden voyage. Right from the start, things begin to happen to sabotage its success, and it was invigorating to figure out the culprit with all her Blue Orchid Society friends and their partners. It was heartwarming to see how her friends fully supported her. I only wish there was more of the romance; it seemed to take a back seat to the intrigue, but was still lovely. Thanks to NetGalley and Covenant Communications I received a complimentary ARC copy with no obligation to post a positive review.

A great read!
This book has it all. Unrequited love, fall from society, a strong woman, secret love, an unknown enemy, unwavering friends, it has it all. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. Dahlia is shocked to discover that her suitor is marrying her friend and with that announcement her whole world changes. Now she is a successful businesswoman and starting a new venture, cruise ships. But someone wants her to fail and they will work their hardest to see it come about. Can Dahlia, her rediscovered friend Miles, and her other supporters find the culprit or culprits in time? Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

DISCOVERING DAHLIA is the fifth novel in the Blue Orchid Society series by JENNIFER MOORE but it can easily stand alone. It is a delightful read with the story taking place in 1874 on a luxury cruise on the SS Aurora of the Paragon Line, which Dahlia Lancaster has inherited from her father. I love the descriptions of the beautiful ship, fitted out for a luxurious voyage, and of the pleasant ports of call. There is also an element of danger when things start going wrong and the thought that someone is willing to go to any extreme to sabotage Dahlia’s plans……..
The guests are divided between those of the ton, the Darling Debutantes of whom Dahlia was a member until she fell from favour when Lord Ruben, to whom she was practically engaged, married her best friend instead, suffering ridicule and expulsion from high society, and her real friends of the Blue Orchid Society……
I like to see how Dahlia has responded by taking on responsibility and making a success of her life.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley and Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Are you ready to set sail in the first luxurious cruise of its type, The Aurora? Come aboard and you will be pulled right into a delectable romance, and an intriguing mystery. The author keeps you guessing who the culprit is, right till the end! Though this is the fifth book in the series, it is a complete story on its own. I have not read the previous books in this series, but look forward to reading them. I was given an advanced copy of the book by NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a sweet story. I have read a couple of the others in the series. You can read this all on it's own and understand that it Dahlia belongs to a group of forward thinking woman who love and support each other. Dahlia was kicked out of high society but gracefully finds her footing in this book. I wished this had more moments between the couple. I felt like the romance took a back seat to the scenery and intrigue going on onboard and off the ship. Why are so many strange things happening. The mystery was well done. I thought I had it all figured out and then a twist was added. This is a proper romance with a couple of sweet kisses.
